Found one the perfect height and a little shorter too. I did some jerry riggin' [involved duct tape:)] abd set the scope on the same height as this mount and it's right in the sweet spot. Thanks Strick, it'll certainly be more rigid.
-
That is a good idea as long as doesn't get it up too high. I wonder how long the base on that mount is? It'd look kinda dumb with part of it hanging off. I'm sure there's a solution....if I can afford it. Decent mounts ain't cheap.

It's a pistol scope. Much like a long eye relief scope, it's meant to focus far away.

So I was tinkering with different things this evening; Sighting options for my newly completed AR. I have a 2x20 Nikon pistol scope. This AR has a really beefy gasblock held on by 4 set screws. I used an old pair of rings I had laying around and viola! I think I like this! Eye relief is perfect. I will have to buy a set of rings just a touch higher to make it just right for a comfortable cheek weld, but that's a non issue. I just wonder [opinions please] if it will be rigid enough to hold zero??? I was shouldering it over and over and it is FAST and I can see the reticle with both eyes open. I didn't think that was possible, it being a magnified view and all, but I guess 2x is doesn't distort much. I wonder [opinions please] if by holding it only by the front half if it will be susceptible to being knocked off zero easily? I'm not a clutz, but if the least little bump knocks it off well.... Thanks for any thoughts

Messianic Judaism is the epitome of Christ worship. Warmly embracing him as well as his people. He is after all the son of the God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob. It's the antithesis of the replacement theology some churches preach. If I were to ever align myself with a specific church, it would be them. I even keep one of their marks with me

Unclejak, you're pretty dead on except for nomenclature. Spirituality is a very personal experience that can cover Jesus Christ or whatever anyone else wants to put faith in. Religion is an institution that has been used and more often than not, abused to further the interests of men. A defining characteristic of all faiths is the desire to be more like that which one put faith into. Personally, I don't see God being very religious; bound by tradition and rules that can do as much damage as good.

Retarded. Someone is compensating for something. If it makes them happy, then by all means, but other than bragging rights it brings nothing [performancewise] to the table that can't be done a good or better by something else. ...look how silly that scope looks mounted on that water pipe of a barrel!

I did. AND IT WASN'T AS EAASY AS SOME SAY. I made a about a hundred or so before tossing the whole project. I sold the dies and trim tools I modified, almost broke even. It was a cool learning experience for the time and brass I wasted.

$235/thousand if you buy 2K. That's cheap? http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2923270375/advanced-armament-co-aac-brass-300-aac-blackout-762x35mm-primed

Well Leory, not anymore. I was pretty amped but I ended up scrapping the whole project. The logistics for supporting 2 fighting calibers just didn't wasn't there, I have to put my pennies where they give the greatest effect. It didn't make sense for me when I really laid it out. I can do a LOT with the funds I would have tied up in a different caliber.

No, they don't. Let me go ahead and put it in gear There IS a God, He has an incredible sense of humor, but religion is a sham. Atheists in church? Don't doubt it a bit. Hell will be packed with folks who warmed a pew every sunday.

I have a theory. I am putting it to the test right now. When I click safari, I immediately click my history icon and double click on the first TGO item I see. It's faster than typing. I wonder if sometimes I am bringing up a page that has had the "mark forums read" button clicked, and in so doing, it is activating the "mark forums read" function without my actually clicking on it. I made a bookmark (I never use bookmarks, I'm too lazy) to put me at the homepage everytime instead of some random page I recently visited before clicking "new posts" What a complete waste of time typing all that rubbish^ over trivial crap!

I'd kill a man over my little chi'wa'wa:) I know what you mean. They've got some serious hearing. I'm sorry to hear your little friend is getting poor in health. Heartbreaker. You definitely need a large breed. That beagle would do you well running squirrels and rabbits around your property. Go get one and spend a lot of time outside with it.

I think I just peed my my pants I laughed so hard. I'm reminded of the moron who tried to start a fight with Tyson in a bar many years ago. STUPID!! I mean, check out dude's face!!!! Wonder what he was thinking about while he was taking a beating?

...oh yeah. 11 acres??? I'm telling you. If you don't have one, go out this weekend and start shopping the pound....get yourself a good dog. It's amazing what powers they wield.

Well disillusionments are easy when both parties agree and sign the dotted line. It sucks but I'll bet some guys here can tell you; It could be so much worse. It sucks and you have my sympathy. I applaud both of you for being mature about it.

Must be something I'm doing, since no one has chimed in with the same. It's still doing it though. I just went through several threads I have been reading for the last few days and there were new posts on each. Clicked new posts before hand and nada. Stupid interwebz.

I have one of the first ones. My wife bought it for me when she was still my girlfriend. We've been married over 9 years so.... There was a time when it was my primary pistol, not just my EDC. It was IT. I have put beyond 5k through it. Issues I have had were some failure to fire on some 1943 surplus ammo [not the guns fault] and one of the plastic assembly pins broke in two and fell out about 2 years ago. I made some new steel ones and replaced the other plastic one. There's been a few stove pipes, mostly due to my experimenting to find a good load. Using quality ammunition, I have NEVER had a single failure in the whole time I have had it. Not one. Taurus gets a nasty rep and I will admit, a good bit of it they earn. There's entirely too many returns for it to be a customer issue. Personally I like the one I have, it has proven itself, I am carrying it right now and no qualms about trusting my life to it. BUT, I probably wouldn't buy another taurus product due to their poor reputation.

Okay, so there's this store over in franklin called the Woodcraft store. They've got some neat little knife kits and some wicked exotic woods to work with. A question for you knife nutz out there who make your own knife handles: Have any of you ever worked with purple heart? I have a pair of grips I made for a skinning knife. They're getting darker the more I finish them. I hear tale that if you set purple heart out in the sun, the purple will come back. I don't care about that as the look is awesome as is. Kind of a purple burgundy I'm told [red/green colorblind]. I'm using boiled linseed oil on these. I rub in a VERY light coat once per day, I buff it out with 0000 steel wool before each application taking care to only buff, not get in deep. I've been doing this once per day for over a week and they are still soaking up oil. Is that normal? I do it over a wood stove and the linseed oil is pretty warm as is the wood when I do it. I have just finished a knife using Bloodwood [brosimum paraense] and it looks decent. Bloodwood is an awesome looking wood. Going to start making sheaths this weekend. Just got a 12 x 12 x 1/16 sheet of kydex in the other day.

POPO, you're talking about a full wadcutter right, not a semi wad cutter? Yeah, I can see that. I bet a BG would bleed like a fountain from pair of holes left from those.

SUEY! There's a Busse made long blade on Ebay right now for over a grand!!! OUCH! I know you gotta pay to play, but if I'm spending that kind of money it better be forged by Telchar of Nogrod and make me the next king of Gondor!

ESEE? Never heard of it. Googleing:)

So I was at the gunshow the other day, very uncharacteristic of me, but I needed some stuff. My wife bought a Cold Steel walking cane to give as a gift, and so while we was at the table I looked around. There's some wild looking machetes out there! Got me thinking. Who makes a really good machete? Gerber makes the gator machete but it doesn't have a full tang. THey also make a Bear Grylls Parang which looks good all but the loud color. Cold Steel makes some wicked looking ones but they seem a bit gimmicky to me.
