  1. I think most of the more educated Christians understand that Christ was more likely born in early fall, but since no one knows for fact and for certain, why change now?
  2. I guess if I had interaction with any kids I might let it slide. As it is, santa can keep his fat ()() out of my house. I don't know why I have always hated santa, even as a kid. Not much of a christmas and holiday spirit kinda man though. Never have been. My itinerary for dec 25: 7:00 wake up - 7:01 tell Jesus happy birthday - 7:02 try & find something to do until bedtime.
  3. Really? In all my years I have never seen an auto ejecting pump I have a real rare gun here
  4. I picked up a clean little model 120 12g pump at the last gun show. I've had a 20g model 120 since I was 10 yrs old. Great guns. THis one is a touch troubling though. The rotary bolt of the winchesters are known for being fast and smooth but this on may be TOO fast:) The recoil of the gun will cause the slide move and the bolt to open. It locks up tight, slides smooth as butter. I can't see any reason why, but under a normal grip and stance, not expecting the gun to do it, it will actually slide bar far enough to eject. It's not unlocked during ignition, that would be a death trap. Like I said it locks up tight, and the trigger must be pulled or the slide release pushed to take it out of battery. It cycles shells very smooth. It shoots very well too except the slide opening under recoil. Anyone ever have a pump do this? I have no real theories but I an going to break it down and clean it real good and maybe put a little tension on the flat spring strut that rides the left side of the bolt. LOL, most people want to smooth their slide action out, I wish mine was a little less smooth:p
  5. For those of you who've made Kydex sheaths; What kind of rivets do you use? Where'd you get them. The ones I have aren't gonna cut it. Too weak. I was thinking of using chicago screws if I can't find a rivet that suits me. Thanks
  6. Sucks you got scammed. Tell everyone!
  7. Here's a list I found on the interwebz of 173 different powders listed from fastest to slowest. Nitro 100 is a very fast powder I use a bit. It used to give a little flash from 45 acp but not too bad. I wonder how relative burn speed is to flash. According to Lester, I would say they are not necessarily related like I would have thought. 8. You know where Kmart is over by the interstate? Well it's in that shopping plaza about 75-100 yards down.
  9. Lester is right. Other than needing to go to a side loading gate, there is nothing wrong with a Henry. They make really well built guns. I have one Henry, and if lever guns were really my thing, I wouldn't hesitate to get another.
  10. I dunno what to tell you. I don't get much better. 15-16 max and mine's a '07 FJ. Sucks, but at least we can go anywhere.
  11. Is that place posted? I know the stupid mall is. The wife wants to go see the lights. I'm not keen on going without my buddy.
  12. I don't run ethanol if I can keep from it. There's a [very] noticeable difference in my Toyota when running 93 octane ethanol free gasoline.
  13. 460 will certainly do it, but my God! What you can do with that kind of money. For what you pay for the Smith, you can get a Ruger Blackhawk in 44 mag, or 45 colt plus the dies, some brass, bullets, powder and whatever you need to get going. Show me ANYTHING that lives in north america that a stoked Blackhawk cannot take down just as well. BUT, it's all in what you want. Economy and availability mean squat if it ain't what you want.
  14. Injector cleaners that go in the gas tank are a no go for me. Think about it. It's made to clean build up and residue. It's not sentient, it's a chemical. SO, it starts cleaning on contact which means it cleans any crud in the tank and washes it to the filter. Diluted by the cleaner, some of it makes it past the filter and into the injectors. No thanks. You'd be better off with frequent filter changes and knowing your local gas station. By knowing I mean, know when they get gas in. NEVER buy gas on the day the get in fresh. Wonder what gets stirred up when the fill the underground tanks??? If the injectors need cleaning, have it done. They can detach the line from the fuel rail and feed the injectors directly. Had to do it to an old mustang my wife had when were first got together. That tired old 5.0 was running like a 4 cylinder. It made a pretty big difference. IMHO filters as preventive maintenance is where it's at. Change, change change. I change mine every year or every 10K [no, I don't drive much]
  15. I dunno 'bout impressive but thank you. The kits run $20-30 but they had a sale the other day; $10 each. I bought a few. They're really pretty nice blades. They are 6A SS. I'm not a big lover of stainless, but we're not talking a $300 Dozier either. I got less than $30 each in the two above and that's counting the sheet of Kydex i bought.
  16. I agree. The Airforce ought to be beaten for the lack of respect. But I can see this getting really bad. Think riots. Someone forgot to toss them off the boat on the trip back. How the heck did that happen. Wouldn't there have been a ceremony planned for that? So some moron screwed up.
  17. Someone screwed up obviously, but it's not like there were BODIES dumped. It was just ashes. Why didn't the families do anything with them? The landfill is pretty sorry though. It wouldn't cost much to ship the ashes up to Arlington and spread them out in a flower bed or something. I guess because I've already made my own preparations I am galvanized to this. I'll be cremated and the guy operating the oven can sweep me up in a dust pan and toss me in the trash. I'm fairly certain I'm not going to care. One thing I don't like is the idea of being in a pot as a mantle piece somewhere. I can see why some may be outraged but I'm not. I think burial is ridiculous. Clinging on to a corpse or the ashes thereof won't bring anyone back and does nothing to assuage the bereaved. The Airforce should be smacked upside the head for a lack of tact, but this could easily be blown out of proportion.
  18. Pictures are not great from an iPod, and I don't know why photobucket refuses to show the one knife right side up!!
  19. Finished two of my knives up this evening. Getting started making Kydex sheaths tomorrow night. The spear point is mine. Handles are bloodwood. The small skinner is for the wife [shh, christmas gift] handles are purpleheart. I have another skinner to do later. I have some gaboon ebony for that one.
  20. I get all the "osage orange" I need locally. A buddy of mine saves me chunks of bodock [as we call it here in the south]. I LOVE that wood!
  21. I use Lucas "Red and Tacky" on slide rails and pretty much all bearing surfaces except the bolt in my AR. I use Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic for that. I keep some Remoil around for saturating surfaces before a final wipe down.
  22. It took me a long time to get to where I understand this, but there is a MUCh better system than this or any other detector....... ...obey the dang speed limit. If you're running late, well, you should have left earlier. I hate blue haired grandmas driving 30 in a 55 too, but there's never a legitimate reason to speed unless someone is bleeding.
  23. Fort Apache is good. You get a dose of Shirley Temple thrown in there and she doesn't sing about animal crackers this time.
  24. Over half the film length of Blackhawk Down.
  25. I've been saying this for years. Is there anybody listening?!!!!???
