  1. It was a Taurus that failed after a decade of service and thousands of rounds. Yep two is one and several is better. That's why I traded out to my Saturday goin dancin pistol. If it fails I'll have to break out my Sunday go to meetin pistol. Lol
  2. Awesome offer. Wish I could get out tomorrow. I may take you up another weekend though. I'll give a heads up. Thanks!!!
  3. So the wife [fairly certain] is fixin' to buy me another handgun. But what to get? I need/want another 9mm and my initial choice was another XD, but I wonder what I wouldn't rather buy my first Glock? Probably a 19 as they are closer to the XD I am already comfortable with than the 17. With the failure of another pistol of mine today, I'm in serious want of a pistol that I can buy extra's of EVERY moving part EASILY. Even my beloved XD cannot do that. I see the booths at the gunshow for Glocks. It doesn't appear as though there is a part I can't buy there. They are certainly supported more than any other handgun. I'm close to the edge on this. The main thing holding me back is that no matter HOW good a deal I get, it's going to cost me an extra C note for every Glock I end up owning for a new cut rifled barrel. [see my name;)] Think a G19 would be an easy transition from an XD? Here's a beggars question to boot: Anyone own a G17 & a G19 that happen to shoot at CHMR on sundays AND wouldn't mind sharing? I'll be happy to go buy factory ammo to feed 'em. I'll thinka sumthin' to make it worth your while. One thing I have come to the point of in the last few years: I'm sick of mediocrity and settlement. I'm going to find something suits me and buy it, then axe everything else. Thanks for opinions:)
  4. I carry the XD everywhere but work. At work I am up and down, standing kneeling wallering around on cars. The XD pinches the fire out of me when I squat just right and honestly I don't want it all scuffed up:) Other than that...nothing.
  5. Well after years of bragging and taking up for Taurus when other wouldn't my PT145 has broken down. I stripped it for cleaning and a sliver of metal and two small bits of plastic fell out. After tearing it all the way down, the trigger support holes have broken off and the slide release spring has fractured. Sad part is, it likely won't be fixed under warranty as I have replaced the crummy plastic pins with metal ones I made myself. Since I modified it, the warranty is technically void. Sucks but I wouldn't blame them if they refuse. I'll find out monday morning. It's ten years old and I don't know if the later models will even interchange. Good luck getting parts huh? Midway and Brownells has nothing. Anyone know where I can buy the parts? I don't mind paying for them and I'd heap rather fix it myself than have Taurus do it. THANK GOD I didn't have to pull it out!!! I cary it around the house and work. Think how bad it would be to have the trigger fall out in a defensive situation. Even when/if it's fixed I'll never carry it again. I don't like carrying my XD at work, but that's where I am now. I'm not far from buying a Glock I swear to God. If I could get the wife to buy me a decent used 17 and a Lone Wolf cut rifled barrel, I'd be on it. I'm not sure there's a part in a Glock that can't be bought at a gunshow. Much as I love XD's, can't say the same for them. The real pisser for me is I JUST HAD the same issue with my SP101 [fixed it and sold it]. Spring broke in it and I didn't know it till cleaning day. Two lessons here boys and girls: *Check your EDC OFTEN!!!!!!!!! *Carry weapons that are heavily supported for parts if, like me, you work on your own guns. If anyone needs me I'll be over here starring in this video: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/general-off-topic/66053-sigh-somedays.html
  6. UPS is equally stupid. Tracking my latest Midway order. From Missouri to fairview, guess where the first stop is.....knoxville. *sigh*morons. According to tracking they took 12 hours to truck it to knoxville when they COULD have put in on a nashville bound truck, or better yet to the Cool Springs hub. No, that would have made too much sense.
  7. It wouldn't matter if the guy asked ten thousand dollars for it. He didn't point a gun at anyone or strong arm anyone into buying it. If it's too high, you PM an offer in private OR mind your own stinkin' business. Good riddance.
  8. Well, I hope the best for you, BUT if you decide in the end to give up, give me a shout. I might make you an offer on it. I've always wanted to cast for something in the 6mm family. I'll bet my hat it will shoot well with the proper cast boolit. Finding size and load is half the fun.
  9. Good god, just whoop it against a tree. You'll get to the same destination only faster. I'd say something is loose. Scope base, ring or the scope is crap to begin with. If you were getting wide groups of 6 inches or so it might be more understandable, but if you can't hit an 18 inch target reliably, there's something going on that's not normal at all.
  10. Know exactly where that is, thanks!!!

    Romanian PSL

No matter what your load, heat will make groups on these thing open up. On top of barrel whip, that thin barrel doesn't brave the heat well [from an accuracy stand point] I had one for a few years but never could reload for it; It mutilated brass. Accuracy was fair but not great. Hitting clay targets at 100 was easy enough but nothing more. Just like 99% of all designs based on Kalashnikov's work, it was relentlessly and unfailingly reliable. It is what it is; A DMR of less than American quality. Not a bad thing. It will do everything it was meant to do and thats hit a man sized target at medium ranges. Most american DMR's are on the AR platform. One thing the PSL has over ours is brute force. 7,62x54R is no joke.

    Short vs long barrel

The stars at night, are big and bright...........
  13. Oh, you meant running from target to target. I just thought you wanted to get your cardio up before shooting. It will ABSOLUTELY throw off your aim. Me a few guys used to hike about a mile to an open field to shoot. My fat outta shape butt couldn't hit squat. Try it. Hike a mile or two, then jog 100 yards and drop and fire a round cold bore at a minimum of 100 yards. Showed me I was a bone fide couch commando:)
  14. If I weren't so heavily invested in handloaded ammo I can't sell or trade, I'd probably trade off my 308's for another .223 myself.
  15. Willis, if anyone ever wanted to murder you, all they'd have to do is sneak in and replace some of these with a few butter knives and you'd fall over dead of your accord. Yet another cool knife by the way. I'm a little slow I suppose, but a VERY appropriate avatar;)
  16. huh? What's wrong with you man? Whatcha gonna do when the blue helmets arrive and there's all that good 7,62 Nato laying around?
  17. $55 is cheap enough if it's really good. I'm not a big Bourbon man, but the last bottle of J/W Black Label was around that. I guess it depends on what kind of drinker you are. If you like to drink, that's reasonable. If you like to get drunk, it's pretty pricey. Where exactly is this new place in Bellevue? Gonna have to stop in and nose around.
  18. I was just watching a movie with the wife. We like some old movies and the misses just got a new boxed set. We was watching Little Miss Broadway and when I seen Phyllis Brooks I thought of this thread. I stand by my antiquated, bassackward view on things: They Just Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To.
  19. If you're in Middle Tn, CHMR. Charlie would be more than happy to let you run around the open field next to the range provided all your guns are unloaded. You could put loaded mags on the bench, run around the field and run up to the line as long as you're observing all rules for muzzle discipline. I would have to say, knowing some of the usuals there, it might be prudent to reserve the private range for this to avoid ridicule. He's got lots of open space around both ranges. Of course I am not Charlie so asking him first would be mandatory.
  20. If I had to a wager a guess, I would say they are built and or modified by private people. I guess technically they would be criminals though huh? It would be a VERY simple matter for a drug lord to take say 10K dollars [they wipe their butt on more than that] and put a Bridgeport and a lathe in some guys basement/garage. From there, if he's competent [and it ain't hard] he can convert AK's and AR's to full auto. Given complete parts kits, one man could probably crank out a half dozen Stens a day once he got set up. It would be a good investment for the drug lord with a very high return on his money. Snatch up perfectly legal guns stateside either by hook or crook; whittle on them a bit and send them out to the drug lords. It's what kills me about the left wanting to ban all guns. HA! You can't ban a machinist!!

    CHMR Range Fees

Charlie doesn't push the fact, I have talked with him about it before, BUT technically ALL memberships expire at the end of the year. According to him, it's easier that way but he told me that because everyone has been SO honest about it, he doesn't see a need to enforce that at all. That just shows what a relaxed and top notch gentleman he is.
  22. It's alright Baja, swallow two of these and everything'll be just fine;)
  23. Well, I'd hate to see anyone lose their job, but I won't cry over the post office going belly up. Sears and the Post Office, two places even Bill Gates can't get waited on in a timely fashion.
  24. Don't own one, but I had a Dozier in my hands a while back. All I can say is ............WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. I don't know H&K's so I may be WAAAY off on this. Are you sure they are the same mount type? It was my understanding that H&K used a different style rail than a picatinny type. I accidentally bought a pistol light for an H&K and it was really wobbly on a picatinny rail. Looks like you've got the opposite. The accessory clamps are too small. I would check numbers to be sure I had the right model for the H&K. ***Edit, you could just buy a USP to Picatinny adapter like this one from Midway. No machinist is gonna do it for less money. Bet on that. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/460037/lasermax-rail-mount-adapter-picatinny-style-h-and-k-full-size-pistol
