  1. Come on Jonnin old buddy, let's get that PM box emptied out:)
  2. Naw, read that again peejman, They would have fixed it until I told them about how I replaced their sorry plastic frame pins with steel ones. If I hadn't have told them, they'd certainly noticed when I sent it to them and I'd be out shipping and time just so they could tell me the same crap. They're gonna fix it, I just have to find a piece of plastic of similar color, texture and shore durometer so I can make a reasonable facsimile of the factory pins. Then I'll send it back, they can fix it and I can reinstall the steel pins. THEN, I can put the pistol back in it's box, lock it up in the safe as an heirloom and it'll likely never see the light of day again.
  3. There's a 40 caliber trigger on gunbroker. I wonder if they are the same? I don't need the trigger bar, just the plastic trigger itself. Anyone own a PT140 and pt 145 and wanna look and see if there's a noticeable difference? I bet they're the same injection molded part. What do you bet?
  4. Did I just hear someone say go buy a Glock? Well I'm going next week I hope. Here's a handgun life lesson: Leave all that oddball crap alone. Stick to a top shelf well known design that YOU can get parts for. Glock or 1911 I shouldn't be as mad as I am right now, I know, but I don't like anyone telling me "Oh you can have this part, but only if we put it in because you're not competent enough to install it and we're all a bunch of cowards in fear of a lawsuit."
  5. SO, being as I didn't give them a name or serial number; I am now looking for some plastic frame pins or a suitable piece of black plastic to make some out of that will pass for factory pins so I can ship it back and get it fixed. Told the wife, if this thing didn't hold sentimental value I'd box it up and mail it to them with a jar of vaseline and a short list of suggestions.
  6. Well Taurus, you just made an enemy for life. My Christmas wish for you is that you go bankrupt and that one night when all your workers have gone home for the day, your factory burns to the ground. *Taurus phone representative - I'm sorry sir, but the trigger is a restricted part and must be installed by a factory trained professional *Caster - HAHAHAHAHA!! Excuse me, so sorry. I just want the part, I don't mind signing a waiver and paying good money for it. *Taurus - We cannot sir. We would be happy to have you return it and we repair it for free. *Caster - I already have it apart. I've replaced the factory crap plastic pins with metal ones and I know what you're going to say when you get it. *Taurus - Oh well sir if it has been modified or repaired with non factory Taurus parts you are right, we cannot fix it. *Caster - Well, if you people weren't so lazy and cheap, you wouldn't half ass a job by using plastic for frame pins, and I wouldn't have had to. *Taurus - __________ I don't know what he said I quit paying attention. *Caster - Well, I used to, in the face of internet opposition, support and defend Taurus, but guess what? No more. Have a Merry Christmas and I hope you never sell another gun. *Click* Taurus Sucks.

  8. The build is finally DONE!!! Woot!!! I still have to put my scope back on, but it's done. Okay, I wasn't going to do this, but I can't help myself. I gotta tell you guys about this J&T upper. First off, let me say the guy on the phone DID agree to take it back, so the fact that I did NOT send it back is totally on me. I accept that. It had many problems. First off, the gas block was not set back against the barrel shoulder and the gas port didn't line up. 6 shots and none cycled. I don't know if the handguard was too long or just that the picatinny gas block was too tall to fit under the carbine length free float rail. The barrel was turned correctly so it wasn't the shoulder set back too far. I don't like sending stuff back; Paranoia I'll never see it again or have to wait six months. I ordered a Troy industries low profile gas block and I already had a Yankee Hill tube, so that fixed that. I also wanted the longer rifle length guard so nows the time. Well the threads were the same but they bottomed out on the new guard before they tightened all the way down, so I pulled the barrel nut. Here's where my jaw hit the floor. It wasn't even close to tight. The pins on my wrench are a snug fit in the holes of the nut so I had to jiggle it a little, and the jiggling turned the nut! That bugger wasn't tight at all, AND my dumb butt had fired it!!!!! Removing the nut showed the threads were not damaged but they were dry. No grease or antiseize. Grrrrr. I pulled the barrel to check the barrel extension. At least it was tight. It only took 40 ft lbs to line up the gas tube holes so it's good now. Minimum 30lbs I didn't see a need in super torquing it. I'll be having a talk with the guys at J&T when I get a chance. I don't want anything tangible from them, but they're gonna get an earful. That could have been a catastrophic failure and you guys could have very well lost your beloved Caster:drama: Seriously guys. Look your stuff over!!! Be safe out there!
  9. See, this is why I miss the message board we used to have under our profile. In the event you wanted to contact a member who has a full inbox, you could post a message. As it is now......well...... If anyone knows Jonnin could you please ask him to make some room in his PM box. Happy Christmas everyone!
  10. I always display my empty holster at the Post Office. They asked me once or twice. Now, none of the employees pay me any attention. Although the last time I was in there a Cop was in line with me. I told him it wasn't fair he could carry and I couldn't. He smiled and said if it were up to him, I could carry anywhere I wanted. It's cops like that, that I will be more than willing to lend and hand in a bad situation. Open holster protests? Sounds great for places you HAVE to go. Court, and other gov buildings. Hospitals and ECT.
  11. Yeah a couple of years ago one broke in half and fell out. Not wanting to see the other do that I replaced them both.
  12. So uhh....Baja. Did your Mosin ever come out of the closet or is it still in there? Lol
  13. CCR Creedence Clearwater Revival????
  14. Well, I've been going on about it incessantly the whole thread:) Parts availability isn't number one on the list, but it's close. Warranties don't mean anything to me because I'm probably going to fix it myself or sell it. I've sent guns back before, I don't like doing it for a few reasons. There will come a day when warranty won't mean anything to anyone....You'll need to be able to handle that yourself. I'm not a smart man so I'm going for simplest and most available. I have spare parts for every gun that really means something to me. Example, for every AR own I keep a complete BCG and even more extra small parts, cam pins firing pins and what not. My XD has the reliability but not the aftermarket support. That's where I am heading. I used to go to great lengths to set myself apart, but there's a comfort in using the same thing as everyone else. It's going to have all the kinks worked out, it's going to be proven more times than anyone wants to read about. It's much like the Snap-on tool users. They don't use them because they are pretty. They use them often and they want to KNOW it'll work when they need it. I'll make an unholy blasphemous confession here. I've kinda lost my taste for refined classy guns; the exotic, rare, unconventional....I just don't care anymore. I love to shoot, and I actually like being a creature of habit.
  15. The HK is a fine pistol but it doesn't meet my criteria. It's an awesome looking gun though.
  16. That whole gun is ugly to me, but I am the weirdo who hates the 1911 remember? I don't fit in well because of it.
  17. I held a few at the last gunshow. Didn't care for them at all. Nice guns, but not for me. I'm a parts nut too. One of the contributing factors to going to the AR platform and abandoning all others was the fact that I could, without effort, put away parts. I have spares for spares of everything. Glock seems to make this very doable and affordable.
  18. HA!!!!!! Good one! Invest. "v" is next to "c" That could have been real bad in a more sensitive situation. LOL!!!!!!!!
  19. I have heard that for years. I have NEVER been witness to it though. Everyone I ever saw was very accurate. There's a video I watched last night the old guy is shooting it at like 80 yards. I can't do that!
  20. Pointy stick give me the heeby jeebies! I wouldn't say to the extent of a phobia, but getting cut or stabbed gives me chills. I'd heap rather be shot (I think:)) Anyone in doubt, unload your carry weapon and check it three times, give it to a friend and have him clear it too, then put it back in your EDC set up. Have your friend stand ten to twelve feet away and pretend to have a knife. Get creative and cut one out of cardboard. Now, Can you get your weapon out and on target before he can cross that ten feet and stab you? Bet he can. I've talked to many cops and any of them who've been in a fight will tell you. That nut with baseball bat will be on top of you swinging a LOT faster than ypu think. That precious gun on our sides is not as much comfort when you consider the reality of this. That's why hitting a target quickly may not be enough.
  21. Well that's a funny thing because my groups tend to be low with my XD. TIGHT, but a touch low. I have had to purposefully force myself to change my point of aim to stay perfectly centered...err uhh perfectly...err as good as my shaky knees would do.
  22. I've wanted a Glcok for a long time, I just stayed away for petty reasons. Didn't want to incest in a slew of new magazines and a new barrel. I have decided for fact and for certain to try them out, I just don't know which one. The 19 is supposedly easier to carry but I don't put very much effort into concealment because I don't care if it's spotted. I find the 17 intriguing with it's sharp angle and higher capacity.
  23. Hmmm, Jonnin do let me know!
  24. I think in some cases Boring is Comforting. Surprises in a duty/service/defensive weapon are rarely welcome.
  25. Oh come on I love my xd9. I'm just thinking I'd love a pistol as well supported as the Glock even more. Thanks for the offer everyone. I'll probably be there the next open weekend after Christmas. Maybe several of us should get together after the holidays and shuffle some pistols around???
