  1. Saw this today and thought of this thread.
  2. Guns and Jeeps? Well here ya go! David just started another site specifically for Jeeps. Welcome!
  3. Well, I've had it a decade and put several thousand rounds through it. It's not that big a deal other than Taurus being stupid and not selling me the parts I need.
  4. Well, I just won an auction for a new trigger over on Gunbroker. $21 and some change. Kiss my hairy white ___ Taurus! Just gotta order the slide release spring and it'll be up and running again.
  5. Well, It's over. No more discussion. I told the wife I didn't want to go to the range on christmas day, that I was going today being as I had the day off. SOOOOO, she layed christmas on me early this morning before I left. I had no idea there's been a GLock in my bedroom since before I started this thread. Nickel Boron finish, and I'm so I glad I took the plunge on a Glock. It shoots awesome!!! You goobers complaining about grip and trigger on these are crazy. It's perfect, like it was made just for my hands. Just got back from shooting it and I'm diggin' it, big time! Ohhh, BTW some of ya'll think you got the best wife, but I KNOW I have the best;)
  6. That's AWESOME!!! Now, some preventive measures and some vigilance. Personally, I'd buy your baby girl a new puppy to keep Peyton company. Such as a belgian malinois Strong fast loyal and obedient but are quite adept at tearing off important parts of a bad guy's body Seriously though, that is some great news. That could have destroyed a christmas right there.

    Shotguns at CHMR?

Charlie's a wonderful guy who has the cheapest dues of any range around. I ask people, even though he says nothing, please don't shoot the target backers. I'm serious, he'll never say a word, but he has to pay for that wood out of the dues we pay in. Shoot into the ground, especially with slugs and buck shot. They destroy the plywood really fast. It don't cost us a thing to be considerate like that. Do what you like, I'm nobody and nothing, but I'm asking politely. Toss out some clays on the ground in between the backers or like dbla says, ask to go to the upper range and pound the sky. *EDIT* HAAAAA! Bigwakes beat me to it:)
  8. You don't want to know why.
  9. Oh for love of God don't tell people that man! Don't even hint at it for fear of somebody unknowingly trying it. Google Stibine Gas. That mess can kill a grown man fairly easily. Not to mention they haven't used real lead plates in batteries for a long time. The stuff nowadays looks like a screen with a paste of stuff in it. You're right, It's not really suitable and sure as hell ain't worth the risk. I mean, sure, go ahead and do it if you like, there's headstone company out there that could use the business.
  10. NOT handloading for a rifle like that is heresy, blasphemy, and just plain wrong.
  11. Yep, that's right.
  12. Hornady Tap FPD also. The 75g Amax is a great bullet. They work quite well in my CZ varmint
  13. That's only active duty. If they tool up for war, every physically able male will be made to fight. Unlike here where cowards like me can hide, a chinaman will be forced into service. No need to outfit and keep that many troops in peace time, but watch them if they need to go fight. It'll be like someone opened up the gates of Mordor. They won't need skilled tactics. To be brutally honest, I imgaine the Chinese government would really benefit from it. Imagine a communist society ridding itself of large portions of it's population. It would free them from the great burden they carry.
  14. I was quoting the Bible to be honest. According to Wikipedia Military service is compulsory. At the time of writing there was 318,265,016 men fit for service ages 16-49 with another 10.5 million males reaching service age annually. If anyone wants to get into the math of it, the old saying rings true, NEVER GET IN A LAND WAR IN ASIA. Without weapons of mass destruction a conventional war against china cannot be won. Can you kill 10.5 million people a year just to keep their numbers from increasing? Can you go for a year, killing a million people a day to wipe out their army? I mean come on. The US military knows how to whoopa22 but there's only been about 19-20K deaths in Iraq since '03.
  15. They've been doing this for years. With a standing army of 200 million, what's a few guys lost? The Kings of the East can breed as fast as they lose troops to this.
  16. Some times I kinda miss it. I have a dedicated shop building just for reloading and when I see what a dump it is, I kinda miss the neat, compact, and organized little set up I had....almost.
  17. DLM is on to something. Years ago when my living conditions were neither stable not spacious, I used an old end table. I capped it with a piece of 3/4 plywood; glued and screwed in place. Then on the inside of the legs I beefed up the legs with 2x4's. It was that I could sit in the floor with my back against the couch with my legs under it. Not super comfy but not bad. Turn on a movie and chunk away. The table was symmetrically square and I could turn the table 90 degrees and slide back under it when changing from press to press. Two presses, powder measure and scale all fit in tightly confined harmony. I bought a tupperware storage box that fit under the table to store things in. When I was done, put my stuff in the tub, cap the lid and slide it under the end table. Push the end table in a corner out of the way. Out of sight, out of mind. You're not going to get a Dillion set up very well like that, but I did THOUSANDS of rounds the old fashioned way.
  18. Well, I couldn't fit what I wanted it to say. I wanted to have it say: Hail Mary Mother of GOD, pray for THEIR sins, now in the hour of THEIR death.
  19. Ohhh...get several right?
  20. Deals? Care to elaborate? Where, who, how much? I ain't too far from Clarksville to take a ride northwest.
  21. All I know is moly coating is messy and I have read over and over again that's just not worth it. Never tried it myself.
  22. I've handled a few...I just don't like it. Sad really cause they are darn fine pistols IMO.
  23. As a matter of fact, shooting a properly loaded cast bullet will NEVER wear the barrel out. I say never, we all understand never say never, but copper, brass and nickel jackets do exponentially more damage to the bore than lead ever COULD. Simply put, it's not really possible to wear out a barrel using lead. Normal wear on other parts are the same or slightly less as pressures run close to slightly less depending on the load. As Bigwakes has pointed out, it's not a wear issue at all, but the reaction of a lead bullet in a barrel. Lead will swell upon firing some. The harder the lead the less. I size proper and use a water quenched bullet cast from wheel weights. They are very hard as lead goes. Because of the design of the polygonal rifled barrel, the lead will build in the areas of greatest diameter and cause pressure spikes. Massive pressure spikes cause Kabooms. Cut type rifling doesn't have this issue. Now, this rabbit hole goes MUCH deeper in both theory and application but suffice to say, the numbers say it's bad. Now, that doesn't mean if you fire a magazine of cast bullets through a Glock it'll explode. That's rubbish, but who wants to mine the lead out a heavily fouled barrel every hundered or so rounds? I can shoot 4-5 hundred from my XD EASILY with almost zero leading. Really all I ever see is a faint silver hue in the bore but the lands and grooves are sharp as a razor. Couple of patches on a tight Jag with some Montana Extreme Cowboy Blend and it's gone. I get asked a lot why go to so much effort? It's too much trouble, it ain't worth it.....well, when you can shoot one ragged hole with no failures, and do it for under $60 per thousand, you let me know.
  24. I'm sure it's an AWESOME pistol, but come on guys....despite what some gamblers say, there's too much evidence that polygonal rifling and cast boolits don't play nice with one another. I don't buy bullets or boolits. My lead source is steady and cheap *coughfreecough cough* I roll my own as a point of pride, a source of enjoyment and because I can do it as cheap as anyone out there. HK uses polygonal rifling as does Glock. HK doesn't have the aftermarket support Glock does. IF you can get a cut rifled barrel for a HK, it's be very pricey. Also, I've never seen trays of parts for HK's. You can't swing a dead cat in a gunshow without hitting something with a Circled G on it. If it moves, it will break, so parts availability is a valid concern. I'm not a competition shooter, I'm not even a very good shooter, but I shoot a good bit. Parts wear. 9 pages of this, I didn't expect. I wanted to go shoot some first, but my mind is all but made up. I HAVE shot Glocks before. Never had a single issue with them or the way they felt. Heck with it, the wife says she'll go buy me one in the next week or two, I'm in:)
  25. Well if you take both pins out and claim they fell out, the gun falls apart. I suppose I could. I don't know. I just think it's stupid that I have to take time off work to go to UPS or Fed EX, pay to ship the thing and wait for them to fix it for free when I could PAY THEM, get the parts faster and I could have it back together in 20 minutes. They're just plain ignorant dummies. I don't want their stupid warranty, I just want to buy what I want to buy.
