  1. What would the people do? :panic: What would a CITIZEN [as defined by our founding fathers] do? The thing I find laughable, is all the armchair warriors and couch commandos who can talk [type] big talk while their fat ___ is sitting in their mom's basement. The scene will be bloody for fact and for certain, but the turnout will not be as high as the number of [virtual] fists in the air we see on the interwebz. The sheeple here in the United States of Amerika are a joke. They've shown their worth as a whole in recent years. The idea of tens of thousands of convicted, righteous gun owners rising up in this country is an even bigger joke. Our system is a drug to which there is no methadone and withdrawals are 99% fatal. As disgruntled as the people are as a whole, once they realize that they'll lose internet, cable and fast food they will fall to their knees penitently begging forgiveness. If the "occupy" morons could get a taste of what they are asking for, they'd be living proof. I'm sorry if this hurts feeling, but go into any major city and the people there are not even human anymore. They are parasitic meat droids slaved to the "system" that supports them. Ohh it's true the ensuing chaos will be cataclysmic but I wonder if most people are right in what direction they think it will go. I think not. The hug and hold warm hearted brotherly love everyone displayed after 9/11 won't be on the menu of the day. Katrina, by comparison to a major nationwide collapse, was small and insignificant. The people there showed exactly what the sheeple here will do. Mindless animals. Imagine that playing in a theatre near you, from coast to coast.
  2. I've got several dozen or so 204 cases floating around here somewhere, in and amongst the rest of my loaded ammo. I never knew they were 204's either. I sized them and didn't notice. I noticed when I started trimming. They run fine. Trimmed to length and loaded just like the rest of the 223's they run just fine through any of my AR's
  3. Drinking is fun, shootin' is fun, the two together though....NEVER. It's sad for the family that grieves over him, but I have a hard time feeling sorry for stupidity that should know better. Even North Korean Basic Training will teach you to NOT point the gun at your head. Pitiful.

    Sons 1st rifle

THat's awesome. That's an incredibly great cartridge too. Soft on the shooter, hard on the target. VERY accurate to boot. He'll be hunting deer with that when he's an old man and think fondly of his old man every time. I admit I'm a bit jealous;)
  5. McRad - Weakness. Having a flashback to teen years: Cutting class, my board and a pack of Camel lights. Good times.....God! I forgot how good Ray Barbee was!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sw1goX6AMDg

That's normal. It's been that way all my life.
  7. Roll your own. I loaded for it for years, it's the only cartridge I cut during my caliber consolidation that I actually lament parting with. It is VERY underrated, underestimated, under appreciated. Handloaded proper, it will bang heads with the 308 and 30/06 any day. The achilles heel of the cartridge is the lack selection of jacketed bullets. If you want to cast as DLM suggests, there is a treasure trove of molds out there. The last mold I was tinkering with was a 250g flat point. Yeah, I said 250. 7,92x57 brass can be made from 30/06 [and others] VERY easily. One of our members here has a small pile of Frankford Arsenal Match and Lake City Match brass as well as other stamps, converted to 7,92x57 that I did some time ago.

Well, he has a point but he can kiss my hairy white butt, I ain't putting down my gun until the strength to carry it leaves me.
  9. What was the propellant used? Composition B????? Yikes!
  10. Well, I don't know what the gun industry does but I know for a fact the the Michelin tire you buy at Walmart and Sam's Club IS NOT the same Michelin you buy at a Michelin retail outlet. I would not use the word "factory seconds" but they are substandard to the regular Michelin line. Reason? Michelin makes the best tires money can buy, no one can argue that. They chew up the road and spit out the miles, but thy are expensive. One of the few times you get what you pay for. BUT, Walmart won't pay wholesale prices Michelin demands. Michelin builds a lower grade tire to keep a very comfortable Walmart contract. They are not junk mind you, but they are inferior to the pureblood line you buy in a Michelin outlet retailer. Likewise Goodyear does this. There are entire lines of Goodyear tires that money cannot buy from anywhere but Wally/Sam's. As far as guns go, I have no proof but I would NOT be surprised to see such things as an 870 with cheaper wood or something similar. NOT junk or seconds, but they cut corners where they can get away with it. The reason is simple, when the marketing juggernaut know as Walmart offers you a contract, there is no negotiating and no company in their right mind would turn it down. I remember several years ago talking to an FFL dealer about a base model 870. Walmart was selling them for pennies more than his wholesale cost was. I asked him this could be and said it's simple. When I order from my distributor, I can get a few dollars worth discount if I buy 4 or 5. Well, when Walmart contracts for several thousand to distribute to all their stores............... BTW, I hate you walmart!
  11. Even toss up between an XD9 or a G19. Either will serve well.
  12. I had one do almost the same thing. Not a catastrophic detonation like the poor gal in the video, but it did shear a locking lug. I don't care what people say, they may be great guns, but they aren't as great as some inflate them to be.
  13. Meh, there's a contractor somewhere that'll rebuild there and be very happy for it.
  14. Well, I hate it but that's what you get for serving crappy food with a greasy spoon.
  15. I buy a good bit from Charlie, he usually sells it at about scrap rate, so it's well worth the money.
  16. I think there's one scripture that even the [intelligent] atheist can agree upon, that applies here. I know we all worry to lesser or greater degrees about calamity, but WHY? Prepare the best you can and let it go. Stop bickering and stressing over something NONE OF YOU HAVE ANY POWER TO CONTROL. The scripture BTW can be found in Matthew; [KJV]Which of you, by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? - [NIV] Can one of you, by worrying add a single hour to your life? If there's nothing you can do about it, then logically all you can do is prepare the best you can, and face it head on or put your head between your legs and kiss your butt goodbye. ...as for me, I can think of nothing more satisfying than grinding it out to the bitter end. It's not a 'cling-on' mentality of one whose morbid fear of death haunts them, it's the defiance in me to never give in.
  17. The only thing I would add to Dolomite there, is, for those of you who are able, a suppressor will be a very valuable tool as well.
  18. 45.0g AA2520, 168g Amax .010 off the lands Hornady match brass fire formed and necksized. Savage model 10pc 5 shot group @ a hundred yards can be coverd with a half dollar. Better than that if it were in the hands of a more competent shooter.
  19. Imagining myself in his boots, I can think of nothing cooler for a story for his grandkids to retell? My grandpa scared the enemy so bad, they put a price on his head!!!!
  20. Marking for future use. I have a well here, no one uses. I hit water at 70 ft, but ran out of line at 150. I have been told that I did not reach the bottom because my line was being carried away by an underground stream. I beg to differ, I had a 5 lb ingot of lead on the end. If there's a stream moving that fast under my property, I'm moving! Back on track, I have been wanting something like a Bison deep well hand pump for years, they are stainless and run several hundred bucks. I could build half a dozen of these pumps and still be ahead, provided they work. Thanks Dolomite; one for reminding me to get bacvk on this VERY important task, and two for taking the time post this as detailed as you have done.
  21. Atlanta sucks for everything except ghetto trash.
  22. Admittedly I don't watch or read much news anymore. I've lost the will to give a crap. Anything of significance, I'm feel comfortable, will be posted here anyway. Having said that, the wife sent me this link; I found it a bit disturbing. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/12/with-reservations-obama-signs-act-to-allow-detention-of-citizens/ I always had a feeling they could that anyway. Ohh well, tighten your tinfoil helmet and brace for the first wave.

    Gun Explodes

Yessir, but the story says he was firing his shotgun in the woods. We can safely assume he was either hunting or shooting recreationally. Do you make a habit of having booze when you out shooting? No Mike, I wouldn't believe you would. My Scotch collection sits right beside my gun cabinet, so the same could be said about me, but there'll never be a time when I would be "in the woods" with both. You're right, there's no way to prove he was drunk. I was merely pointing out that he had it all while on an outing. Sorry, but if any of you guys take alcohol with you on any outing that involves firearms, then I am glad I don't know you personally. There's nothing that can be said that could justify being out in the woods with a gun AND booze on your person. Nothing I would entertain, not that that means anything to anyone but me.

Arguable. The fact that it was present at all speaks volumes for this man's intelligence.....or lack thereof.

    Gun Explodes

....alcohol was present at the scene I would imagine he had a decent buzz going, dobbed his barrel in the ground without realizing, oops, barrel obstruction. Or maybe he was shooting papaw's old wire twist with some fresh late model ammo?? May never know. ......even if alcohol had no play in the incident, the guy was obviously an idiot for mixing the two. They never go together, under any circumstances and anyone who thinks they do is likewise an idiot.
