Maybe. It's certainly not the issue it used to be. It's only an issue now because of morons either refusing to let it go or beating a dead horse. Funny anecdote, I know a couple of black guys who will tell anyone, They are sick to death of hearing about slavery, THE MAN and all the other BS nonsense. They will tell you they ain't a slave, no one alive can remember a real slave and the only black slaves alive today in the US are slaves to their own ignorance and bad habits. It brings a smile to my face to hear that. I don't believe there's a REAL race issue in this country anymore. Just deluded people who can't grow up and move on. Everyone has preferences, that doesn't make you a bigot.

I'll go too, roll your own.....and start casting!

Florida senior citizen shoots, kills suspected burglar
Caster replied to BigDaddyx4's topic in General Chat
I don't applaude shooting through a closed door, but I am happy to see another dead thief. -
Well in that case, start here maybe. Be sure to get an A4 with the removable carry handle. So you can strap on some optics later. Then as funds are freed up you can change out the handguards to a freefloat quad rail or sumthin'. Rock River Arms: Standard A2 / A4

Who needs it when you just killed the bad guy and the kodiak bear standing behind him!
-
If you used that in a defensive situation, how would you ever explain the number of people with permanent hearing loss, and seizures induced by concussive force? I mean, can you imagine kicking that off in an elevator?
-
What kind of money can you sink into it. That will narrow it down a great deal. 1K won't go far for a rifle like you described but 2 should get everything on your list.

Yes Froggy's culls will decimate many a Zombie;)

Well, I agree and disagree. As long as things stay the same yes, but if the poop never hits the fan, you really see any one single race remaining pure? They'll be trivial oddities. This country, if it survives long enough will see a new race emerge. It'll be a weird tanned creme color and no one will be able to discern one single point of origin. You already see it here and there. Hardcore racism only survives in pocketed areas. Kids today don't care. To a teenage boy today, he don't care what color she is. If she's hot and good to go, so is he. Kids certainly don't judge as much as we did, or our fathers.

Neat. Yeah that's one way to put it LOL

HEY, he can have a tactical rail on a wheel gun. S&W's M&P line:

No, you would have been dumb had you not asked and went on with an incorrect assumption. There can be no dumb question that cures ignorance.

Be sure and list them for sale here. One of us will finish burning them out if the price is right;)

??? According to your calculations for barrel life, all but two of my guns needed a barrel change a long time ago. Of those two was a Glock I got for christmas and an AR I finished up last month. I may not shoot as much as you, but My most accurate rifle is a CZ in .223 and it has had well over 3K through it and it still manages quarter sized groups or smaller @ 100 yards.
-
That's a unique way of looking at it. Kinda like a top fuel dragster engine only turns about 700-800 revolutions from green light to finish line. Don't see how that knowledge helps any though.
-
uhh really? I worked with a guy who build a 6mm-284 and shot it much more than that. That thing was a bit over the top, but it was seriously accurate. My wife's first rifle, bought it herself, was a used Savage 110 in .243. She shot it better than a 1k the first year she had it. It was still a nice rifle when she sold it 3 years later. Wow. You seem to have some seriously sorry luck Froggy.

No he means the bullet flies along a straighter trajectory which usually equates to a higher level of accuracy. .45's, while very accurate up close, tend to fall like a rock after a while. This usually doesn't mean too much except at greater than normal pistol distances where it means a great deal.

That sounded weird, what kind of loads are you using in that thing?

The manager is a brave idiot. He shot well, but when the B/G went down the cop came around the corner and the manager still had his barrel up. IDIOT. Maybe adrenaline caused his poor judgment but if you're going to play the big boy game, control your muzzle and lower it when a friendly comes into view. Not to mention, how would the cop know friend from foe? That hero crap isn't as cool as some would like to believe. The cops are trained and paid, let them do their job unless they are hit and down. I'd help a LEO any day, but I won't be waving my gun around from distance. Kings to the cop for impressively good judgment. If he had shot the manager, he would not have been in the immediate wrong to do so. To me, this is not a tale of courageous gallantry, but a lesson in life: Leave you superman underoos in the drawer at home. Do not engage an enemy so quickly when law enforcement is on the scene. Chime in any time LEO's, could they not charge teh manager with some form of endangerment to police officer for shooting in his direction? I would hope they wouldn't, but I bet they can. I realize it's easy to criticize from behind my monitor, but this is why God gave you a brain. When you decide to carry, you need to be ever present of mind with this sort of thing..

I challenge anyone to [properly care for and clean mind you!] shoot out a .22LR barrel. Like I said, taking care of it, is it really possible? There are .22's out there, I would bet money have round counts past 100K. If they weren't abused, I bet they still shoot great. Barrel life shouldn't be something you should be focusing on anyway. Recoil springs, extractors & extractor springs, even magazines and magazine springs will likely give you issues before the barrel will. Well, at least in auto loaders. IF barrel life is an issue with you [anyone] there's two things to consider: A> You're doing something wrong or B> You are shooting such a high volume that it should be obvious that barrel replacement is going to be on your list of expenses.

Some rifle barrels may never wear out. Properly cared for, a rifle barrel that only sees lead boolits may never see appreciable wear. I know of older gentlemen who shoot BPCR and have well on past 10K through a bore that looks like it was cut yesterday. AND that's shooting BP that is corrosive. Proper care and quality ingredients. A good high quality barrel, fed clean ammunition, cleaned properly [and not by bubba with a steel bore brush either!] will last a very long time. If not, you are doing something wrong or you are behind either a F/A or a throat burner like a .220 Swift. The last Yugo Mauser I owned was an arsenal refurbished one with a new barrel. I quit counting after about the 8th or 9th case of Turkish ammo [1400 rnds per case] and it was still VERY accurate when I sold it. I have an Ishapore rifle with a pristine bore that I ONLY shoot boolits that I cast. I shoot a couple hundred a month, and it will be here when my ashes have long been scattered.

All very good advice. I have some CBC cases [45 Colt] that are stoked up to +p+ levels. I noticed I get cracked necks in about half of them, and they were once fired [by me]. I didn't know of CBC'c craptastic brass at the time. I toss them all. Cracked or not. I have about 30 rounds left. I'm not overly fond of shooting them either. I just buy new Starline cases from Midway or once fired Federal cases if I can find them. I also keep Win brass for easy loads. Hey Fries, what caliber is this you're dealing with???
