No, you're not misunderstanding me at all. The only third party I'm actively going to protect is my better half. Not much of an issue since I am rarely if ever in public. BUT, the world needn't ask me to ever choose between a crowd of people and my wife cause it'll be her....every time. I don't care how many fall behind us. If there were a scenario where she was safe and I could take a clean shot at some murdering nut, yeah, I probably would but I'd have to feel VERY confident in her safety first, as well as mine because I'm pretty much all she has and she's CERTAINLY all I have. Wouldn't hesitate to die for her but wouldn't jeopardize myself only to leave her behind and alone.

Yes, I feel that way everyday. Even people that aren't my neighbors, I wish would move away. how happy I would be to wake up and half the people around here had left the planet on a one way ticket on a starship.

Your camera angles make it look longer than it really is. Looks like it's long enough if you miss the shot you could stretch out and bonk 'em on the head. LOL! Looks great. Expecting range report soon.

You avoid this situation by minding your own. You and yours. Sound selfish? Ohh well. My gun's for me and my wife. Everyone else gets a 911 call as I'm redlining the engine in the opposite direction. As with everything in life, that's not set in stone and decisions will be made on a case by case basis as they present themselves. Just a general rule of thumb.

Waste of time? Mostly true, but like most things in life, nothing is black and white. Many rifles with worn or longer than normal throats can benefit as a crimp will allow it to build pressure. The Weatherby shooters out there been going back and forth on that for years as it pertains to the freeborn of a Weatherby chamber. Shooting light for caliber bullets in milsurps is another as they often have worn/generous throats. It's all a part of load development. It's one of the umpteen thousand things that separate a handloader from a reloader. There's only ONE way you will ever know. Find a load that shoots decent and do a side by side comparison with the presence/absence of a crimp being the only difference. Then you will know. I have a several bolt guns and I usually do not crimp but I my .223 bolt action does run several loads that are crimped. Reason being, I tried it that way, they shoot clover leaf patterns and I'm not interested in tinkering with a load I know works very well. Let us know what works for you. There's no such thing as too much data for handloaders.

I wish I could "Apple command, option, escape" when some people are talking too.

Mine was a turd. I only had the Magnum cylinder though. I couldn't hit a barn if I was inside with the door shut.
-
Is it a Mac? If so you can just hit 'Apple command +' until it's clear enough to read. 'Apple command -' brings it right back down. I can't imagine PC's don't do the same thing.
-
Depending on your expectations, you won't be disappointed. Match grade thousand yards...uh no. Feed it right and it'll hit whatever you're pointing at around TN. It's a good solid rifle.

I think I just had an epiphany. I think I'll pick me up a copy of the quran and cut my patches from the pages. Lol!

Something interesting we should be doing here

One of the many reasons my heart broke to watch the BSA turn to :poop:. I learned a lot if not all I know about the matter in the Boy Scouts. First Aid and emergency preparedness was top of the list for my troop's activities as well as being about the only thing I studied at Boxwell. -
Yes we certainly ARE in the end of days. Ohh well. I'm about as bored with this life as I can stand.
-
I gotta go load more ammo.

Lizard bedding

My pile looked like a trash can full of used Smurf toilet paper. There was blue :poop: everywhere. Lol! I just kept patching with Montana Extreme .50BMG until they came out with no blue streaks.

They should have no problem getting the heat to boil their pasta in the afterlife.

I watched, it was pretty cool with some nice choreography. I will go in record as saying, this HAS to have been written by some hippie. Denial of a creator and the complete absence of of firearms? Not a very believable scenario. I can believe everything I've seen on the Walking Dead before I believe I'll see a southern plantation ran by a fella with a Georgian accent and not a single gun on the premises.

Anyone interested in trying it, first step is to pick up a copy of the Paper Jacket by Paul Matthews. He [literally] wrote the book on paper patching.

Just finished up on a project I've been tinkering with. Can't wait to try it out this weekend. It's a Belgian FN Mauser [Columbian Contract] on 30/06. It was sporterized when I got it so I just cleaned it up and ran with it. Changed the firing pin out with a speedlok kit, new pin and spring & added a Bold trigger. The trigger is SWEET! Removed the military rear sight sleeve completely and drilled and tapped it for a receiver sight. Kept the straight bolt handle and the rear sight even allows me to use the charger guide. After nearly a whole pack of patches I got the copper fouling out. It was bad. I will be running a Lyman 311157 cast from air cooled wheel weights. It's a plain base flat nose. Sized them down to .303, just over BORE diameter. Two wraps of 25% cotton paper soaked in water and dried over night, then a very light finger coat of Johnson's Paste wax and final sizing to .311, just over groove diameter. Using jacketed load data for 168g bullet I opted for AA4350 which will give me a 100% case fill for the velocity I aim shooting for, around 2700 fps. Unlike conventional lube/gas check style loading, paper patching will let you push a lead bullet to jacketed velocity. It's just VERY labor intensive. I spent several hours just getting my patch template right. Total time in (20) loaded rounds was a little over 2 hours. I'll get faster eventually. This is my first go 'round with paper patching. This should be quite devastating on large game and even terrorists. I figure they wrap their head in cotton, I will too!

Maybe we can take up a collection for the poor fella so he can get himself a new bible. I think he thumped a hole in his.

Aww come on guys! We never even made it to the gay bashing these threads usually get to.
-
Is it not true though? Do we ever get a tv show or movie where the hero doesn't have to work THAT much harder for dumb decision he made from a lack of physical/mental control? Rarely.

Shotgun Penetration Question? (Not what you think it is)

Bury the trailer and let them shoot over you. Other than that, no way I'd want to be inside. -
I'm thankful for who am I then, because to me, that's not an ultimatum choice. Besides, Abraham is a board certified badass. One walker behind a glass door? pffffttt. Shoulda told Sasha to shove it and secured that room properly. He coulda done it without making a bunch of noise. I worry for Abraham. When you let rational decisions take a back seat and start taking orders from Sgt. Schlong you're asking for trouble.
-
Who in their right mind would choose Sasha over Rosita? Lets see, A girl you already know and trust. Tough as nails & much better in a close range scrap AND has not exhibited the first sign of a mental issue. Abraham is an idiot.
