    Snow

Was at CHMR when it started here. It came down good but didn't stick. Now if it all freezes tonight, tomorrow will be nasty.
  3. Not bad at all. Never been brave enough to try.
  4. Someone with a gun and low/no moral fiber will be much obliged for all their hard work.
  5. I did and I wasn't. I always bring a previous load when trying a new load. I use previously tried loads for control. It wasn't me anyway, these were fired from a rest.
  6. I could push it a little more, but not to the point of getting any real gain. The bullet itself just isn't up to doing a whole lot more at velocities I can safely get in this pistol. I could pick up a couple hundred feet per second, but what good is it? I'd take the accuracy over the speed there. Bear in mind some of the last loads I worked up was a 300g RNFP cast w/ gas check running 1,300FPS. I've been playing around with some of John Linebaugh's load data for the last year or two. Miles of difference. I've run this 200g bullet over 1000FPS with Unique but accuracy was nowhere near as good and I was getting faint hints of leading. I shot 50 of these [Nitro100] loads today and there's not even a trace of lead in the bore. This load is for sure etched in my data book. I'm going to load a few hundred of them and put them away. I just thought it was particularly strange how getting what you're looking for is often found on the other side of where you've been searching. I found it equally strange how this load shot point of aim, dead on. The sights were adjusted for a much heavier load. It's no wonder so many old men who have been reloading for longer than I have been alive are so mental. You learn so much, you find so many things and still, for all the hard data and science, there's still unpredictable things that pop up. I'm happy though. It's for sure cheap to load. The primer costs more than the bullet, lube and powder so it's cheap as heck to shoot. About 7 cents each, you can shoot till you're sick of them. Now if I could only find a higher pressure load that shot so well.......I think I'm going to try some Hornady's leverevolution bullets next. They make a 200g flex tip that I can push a lot faster.
  7. Anyone ever have this problem - I like all handloaders have been looking for the most accurate load for my pistol. It's Ruger Bisley. I have had pretty nice results across the board but nothing to really brag about. I've used everything from 230g - 350g in both jacketed and cast. So I've been been toying with a 200g bullet that I cast for 45acp. Using 7g of Nitro 100 under the little 200g cast bullet makes for a pretty light load by comparison to what its capable of. ......and yet today, amid a nice little snow flurry at CHMR I shot the best group I've ever fired with the pistol. 6 shots, all touching one another. This is a bit aggrevating as its not exactly a load capable of doing what I value the pistol for.I've always liked the idea of it being a heavy hitter, its ironic that the load that it likes the best is no more than the 45acps I load.
  8. Yeah, I have it too......some where. I just didn't realize he took a bump on the noggin' from the hammer of justice. See ya Gun Troll.
  9. So I was refinishing a stock to a gun I was going to have the metal refinished on soon. I supposed to have already done it, but I got side tracked. I get on here to write the guy and he's banned?!!? What the heck happened to Brandon? We never got to see this rifle finished either. What the heck?
  10. I buy ss109's from David and some of them have some pretty heavy pull marks. They will tear one raged hole all day long. The marks mean squat. If the base is uniform and the nose is straight, and the bullet is seated straight, they will fly just fine.
  11. Samoas and a quart of ice cold Purity milk. The best upset stomach you can get.
  12. TGO David once put it best in reference to the kind of holsters: You may as well carry it in a paper sack.
  13. I thought they were all captured rebuilds. So the FN is supposedly a 'new' receiver?
  14. Huh. So if I die and am judged a passing grade, I'm going to Nebraska? I'm strangely happy at the thought.
  15. I wouldn't advocate or condemn any action here, I'm just making a clairvoyant observation: They MUST be planning on flying these at VERY high altitudes. They are crazy idiots but they are not stupid planners. They have to know that rednecks, bored hunters and gun owners of all types will take pop shots at these. It's a sad joke to think you can shoot one down with small arms, but eventually the odds will favor chance...... I don't know what they build the drones out of but I imagine billy bob's deer rifle in .300 win mag wouldn't do it any favors.
  16. There ought to be a cooling off period for pepperoni purchases.
  17. That applies to every politician ever born.
  18. He sees you when you're sleeping....He knows when you're awake.....
  19. I've been jones'n for one of these for years. To me, it's the pinnacle of sweet irony. The waffenamt ground off and a nice big Star of David on top. BEAUTIFUL! I'm VERY jealous.
  20. I was given a pump type pellet gun at age 5. I wasn't allowed to have bb's or pellets unsupervised until I was 7. I got my first .22 for my seventh birthday so the pellet gun was lost to the closet forever. I carried that pellet gun everywhere though. I must have shot (just air) a million times. I got to shoot all the pellets I wanted, but it was loosely supervised. My father would sit ont he patio and read the paper or piddle in the garage while I was shooting. When I got my .22 rifle at 7yrs old, I was allowed to keep it in my room, but I didn't get ammo privileges until i was 10. Looking back, it was all pretty stupid because ammo was never locked up. I just lived under the threat of a beating if I took any without asking. As to the OP's question...it's very difficult to answer. Some kids are mature far beyond their age. Some need a lot of work to get them where they need to be. Others are idiots from birth on into adulthood. If I had a kid, I'd likely experiment. Give them an inch and watch to see if they try to hang themselves or not. I think I'd take them to a private area to shoot, while teaching them the basics of safety, keep mental notes of how well they apply what you're teaching them and how serious they take it. The more serious they take it, the sooner I'd really begin to trust them. As far exactly what age to let them try it the first time with you there to supervise? I'd say as soon as they want. If your kid is six I say let him do it if he's interested. Stand over him like a guard in a maximum security prison. One round at a time. If he doesn't prove himself to your liking, he'll get over it when you don't take him back for a while.
  21. What are the legalities here? If it flew over my property and was not manned by a human, I'd probably be inclined to take it down. If it was interrupting my hunt...It'd be in pieces and my barrel would be warm.
  22. face...palm.....groan.
  23. Sill getting this:
  24. I want to believe you. I don't....but I really want to.
