Wax buildup on bullets causing a problem.
Caster replied to Raoul's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You're tumble lubing, I assume? Well, try a little less lube. You can also think the lube down with a little mineral spirits. For autoloaders, I actually wipe off the lube from the nose of the bullet. It builds up on the feed ramp and makes a mess. It's less of an issue in my rifles and no issue at all in a revolver. There's a great thread over at cast boolits. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=67654 -
Well, if you guys had watched the Talking Dead aftershow you would have seen the director explaining how the flesh from the fingertips are the first to go, how it's been ground down to bone from all the clawing a zombie does. Those boney ends of the fingers are sharp enough to penetrate flesh. Once it gets a hole started, it just starts tearing.

Oh sure, take your chances when you're 900 years old. J/K Seriously, it only takes one. Also, if you go ahead and make it a panic room, you've just moved out ahead of the pack by two steps.

HA! Funny, next she needs a pair of these that she can hook up to her iPod. It's never too soon for the little one start jamming to Sabbath and Zeppelin.

That's actually a good piece of wisdom for everyone in every caliber. Broken shell extractors are cheap. They're even cheaper when need one, you'll feel like it's the best money you've spent in years.

Why do you take it out of the holster to take a ? I suppose with some of the weird holster setups you have to huh? I carry in Galco with a snap/strap retention. I don't even unholster it when I pull it off for the night. Sometimes the gun will go for weeks without coming out. Seems silly to me to ever take it out.

Why do so many prison guards insist on claiming to be part of the LEO crowd? Even calling them correction officers is silly. They ain't correcting anything. I don't mean to demean any of you who do that for a living, it's a very important job and I thank you, but you're not a cop, and you don't correct anything....unless you get an opportunity to correct someone's attitude with a blunt object.

I usually end up buying a printer before ink anyway. They never survive after they give me trouble a few times. I don't deal with paper jams very well. I usually clear them with a hammer.

That's right.

Loads for 30-30 win. lead cast bullets?

You are most welcome. -
Really?? I thought tonight was pretty good. Now, I can stand Shane for his over aggressive macho crap, Dale was the polar opposite. A damn hippie with a rifle. Always wanting to talk & get all feely...nobody wants that tree hugger crap. We have MORE reassurances that Glenn and Maggie will bind themselves together. That's cool. Carl? He needs a trip to the wood shed. BAD. He steals a gun, goes roaming off to where I am SURE mom & dad would say is out of bounds. Then, goofs around and DROPS the gun, doesn't kill the walker that inevitably takes out Dale. Yessir, that little boy ought to have to sleep on his belly for the night. AND, to beat all he's gravitating toward Shane's point of view. Yet another reason Shane needs to go, and take Andrea too.

Well, if the guns in good order it ain't gonna blow up. Now as far as leading, only shooting will tell. Report back after you try a few dozen. If it's leading or accuracy sucks, changes are easily made. -
I don't count my time as worth anything. I LOVE to reload. Most of the time, I'd rather reload as shoot. It's my hobby, no different than restoring some junky old car, or building model airplanes. You never approach a hobby from a savings standpoint. So any cost to labor is out the door for me. As was said before, you're paying too much for components. $35/K for primers at the most. Cheaper if you buy them by the case. What kind of 55g Sierra is that? If you're paying $190/K for a FMJ you REALLY need to see DLM [David] at the next gunshow. Drop $190 at his table and see if he can't send you home with quite a bit more. The last .223 bullets I bought from him was around $100/K and that was for 62g Steel core SS109's. He was selling primed Lake City brass for $100/K last I checked. As to your powder, that CFE is supposed to be pretty good, but if it's about economy, you can save around $10 per jug using WC846 and I have had VERY VERY good results using it in both .223 and .308. In fact, once this last jug of AA2520 is gone, I won't be buying any other type of rifle powder. To save money reloading, you HAVE to love doing it, and you have constantly look for fat to trim. Look at me: I really got into casting because I have a steady source of free lead. I couldn't afford NOT TO!!! BUT, as time went on I absolutely fell in love with it. Well, anything you love doing costs you nothing labor-wise. I still don't actually save any money if you're looking at this from a spouses point of view. I still spend a lot more money on reloading than I should. The one thing I do get; I never leave the gun range wishing I would have had a few more rounds to shoot. I shoot my fill, every time. Wether that's money saved or not is a matter of opinion.

Yeah, it happens. You're not reloading them so don't give it another thought. Those cases have some age on them plus, they weren't made with the finest material on earth. I would pay attention to the primer more. Be certain you have the protrusion set correctly on your firing pin. Unlike many other rifles, the Mosin is easily adjustable. Too much and you get a pierced primer. That's no fun!

Try 8g to start. -
Cheap booze is like drinking out of the toilet. UNLESS you're drinking Vodka. I have had many different types and there's little difference in any of it. In a liquor that prides itself on REMOVING impurities, there's not going to be much by way of distinguishing characteristics. I like scotch, Johnny Walker Black label, BLue Label or Glenlivet. But for Vodka, GO CHEAP. Makes no difference. My Vodka of choice is Skol. Mixed with Tropical Punch Koolaid, it all tastes the same anywho.

*sigh* People give up so easy. It's so worth it, but it takes effort. I just got back from the range today. I shot 100 rounds through my .308 Ishapore. I'm out about....8 bucks. How many times can you shoot your .308 for 7 or 8 dollars? 30/30 is the same way. Neck size only and anneal your brass every 8 or 10 loadings and you'll be amazed at how many times you can load that brass. Especially with Unique powder, the pressures are very low. How do you think the cowboy action shooters afford to shoot so many thousands of rounds? Don't give up. -

Yeah, micro groove barrels can be a real pain sometimes, trying to get them to cooperate is like pulling teeth. I wish they'd quit using them. -
...Plus, it's what all the cool kids are doing.

NO, I would NOT trade. The XD will run and you know it. How many XD's do you read about with problems? No way.

.30 not .357 DOH! #4 next please. It's bugged me the most.
