  1. They would be AWESOME for someone with a 9mm Largo destroyer carbine.
  2. LagerHead, you are absolutely right.  I will say though, that's not exactly in our face day to day, which may be why they get by with SO much.
  3. Yeah, I should have been a little more clear as to the opinions I'm fishing for.     Dog suggestions.  I think [hope] I'll know when the time is right to take on a new padawan.
  4. WHY?  Well for me, my pistol serves one purpose, get me back to the truck alive.  If I get there fast enough, tire smoke and redline.  If not, a rifle beats a pistol in pretty much any fight.  You can argue about anything but NO pistol is as accurate or as much a fight stopper as a rifle of equal quality.  People bark about over penetration and collateral damage but I don't really see that being as much a negative as accurately placed shots are a positive.  If I am being pursued as I flee then I know life can't get much worse, may as well make a LOT of noise because I ain't no fighter.  I'm just too young to die and too old to quietly take an azz whoopin'.
  5. The wife has been on my case pretty hard these last few days.  Time for a new outside dog.  I swore to the world, NO.  My bestest buddy in the whole world passed on a few months ago and it's been a real bitch getting past it.  As is most everything in my life, the woman is probably right.  Not sure I want to really take on the task until spring though.  For a dedicated outside dog, its hard to start the process with winter coming on.  Spring would mean longer days and warn nights to get acclimated to the job.  I'd also rather NOT have to keep a puppy/youngling in the shop next to the wood stove at night [by itself] until it knows what to expect around here.     ANYWAY, as always, I hold ya'll's options in high regard 'round here....well, most of ya'll.  I'm thinking I DON'T want another pitt.  Loyal and fierce, but not a good social critter.  Even though most really ARE the stigma is exhausting.  The wife wants me to get either a Shepherd or a Malinois.  She's even offered to pony up for a trained dog from a breeder but gotdang!!!  Four figures for a dog when SO many need good homes.  I dunno, which is why I ask.     Okay, your turn!
  6. I know this is a pipe dream but if by some miracle it were to actually go through, I was thinking of all of us who have suppressors already.  Would we be able to buy sell and trade amongst ourselves as we do with our privately held firearms?  What of the paper trail for those of us with Trusts or those who own one individually?     It may seem nonsensical to some, but I can see the merit in dispensing with that paper trail.  Could one not sell their suppressors to a dealer, get a receipt and file whatever necessary paper work with the ATF to show the trust is dissolved and the assets legally liquidated?  Would it be shady dealing to ask a dealer to do this and then buy it back for a slight fee?       Just curiosity wandering.
  7. A few minutes experimenting with it and you can get 30 boxes in a .50 cal can for a total of 1500 rounds.  Nice.     I am mildly disappointed with the .308 Win boxes.  No reasonable combination [without crushing the boxes and making it difficult to remove] will let you get more than 480 rounds per can.  It's a fair trade off though to have my ammo in a more user friendly "dispensary" fashion.     Overall, I'm really happy with them, although I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how exhausting it can be after the first couple thousand.
  8. I think we can all agree this guy is a moron.  This is not the way to do things, no matter how much we WANT to.       BUT, things might change if more of us would actually do something instead of grumbling about it like I do all the time.
  9. I'm thinking "Steak is for Taxpayers" should be a bumper sticker.
  10. Lots of profanity. I'm holding my opinion for now, but most of you know how I'll respond. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ye-XEcD8gRo
  11. I used to use factory boxes gathered from the trash at the range but these take up a lot less space. You can only get 1000 rounds of 9mm in a 50 cal can using factory boxes. These let you get 1300.
  12. Finally recieved after those goons at the post office fumbled again The quality is very good. Well packaged, clearly printed. Nice. The guy is also good at communication AND to beat all, he sent me a check for $4 and a free sticker. Wooo, four whole dollars you say. The check says shipping over payment reimbursement. He certainly had NO obligation to do that but I think it says volumes about him. Check these out guys.
  13. Hey kids, this is what arm dope will get ya.
  14. You really want to be the guy running Mos Eisley? Trying to manage a hive of scum and villainy, which is what any trading post will quickly become, certainly ain't for me.
  15. It's in there with other excessively large auto calibers that have limited *true* usefulness. .44 auto mag, 45 win mag, .475 Wildey. If you really need that much gun, one should consider a rifle.
  16. I've wanted to set up something up for long time, every time I start, I give up. Everything affordable sucks. WTSHTF I'm gonna get me a Navajo blanket and start a brush fire.
  17. Please don't be a bunch of white boys. Anything but a group of white men.
  18. No one has addressed the real issue here, without Bill Goodmans, where can a fellow shopping plaza operator (that's mall ninja for you civilians) get his Chinese tacticrap, Pakistani knives and beef jerky?
  19. I'll bet Bill Goodmans had a lot to do with it. His shows sucked and RK just happened to start doing shows there that DONT suck and bam, it's all over. No proof, just conjecture.
  20. Ohh you're abaolutely right. I tell ya, it makes my skin crawl to see 'CNC' on everything nowadays. Like that makes it soooo much better? CNC really shines at high speed production work and complex geometry and kellering. One or two peice jobs are often a waste of programming time. I'm baffled at how people think CNC somehow means better quality. A CNC is stupid. I mean dumb! It will do what you tell it to every time. Program Z -50.000 and see what it does. Yes, it will make a valiant attempt to drive a tool through the floor unless there are soft stops in the parameters. A CNC is only as good as the programmer and the guy setting it up. A machine capable of holding +/- a tenth is still crap with sloppy set ups, poor tooling and improper tool offsets. Anyone who needs proof only need look at a pr 64 winchester or a 50 year old Colt revolver.
  21. Okay, one of the crappiest thing Glock does is that plastic guide rod. I don't fancy much else by way of upgrades, but I've finally gotten off my lazy arse and decided to replace them all. I refuse to buy them though when my lathe is just sitting there. My question. Is there a reason the recoil spring is captive? Other than ease of installation? I guess I'll just use a stainless button headed cap screw and turn the head down appropriately. I was just curious.
  22. Just found out the wife bought me some ammo cans from Academy. $10 each with free shipping. How the hell did they ship me TWENTY ammo cans for free? I thought this was a great deal for NEW 50 cal ammo cans and I didn't have to pay admission and parking to a gunshow to get em.
  23. All legalities aside, I highly doubt any owner of a CNC mill will make time for you. Having run one for many years, I know first hand they stay running all the time. If they aren't making chips, they are costing the company money. Billing out anywhere from $100/hr to over $500/hr depending on the job and complexity, they don't have time for piddly little trifles. One shop I worked had a five axis machine that billed out more in an hour than I made after taxes in a week AND this was over 10 years ago.
  24. Right OhShoot. I was sitting there thinking, Abraham, put on of the RPG rounds you have in the center of the bikers little circle there and move along. Try not to slash a tire on any smoldering debris. Stupid.
