Any of the tried and true calibers [45 acp in this instance] mated with Bullseye; It's darn near impossible to go wrong. Bullseye meters well. You'll do well Mike. Interesting to note, the 45 acp is arguably THE best caliber to learn reloading on. Lots of bang for the buck, difficult to get wrong. Not impossible, but you've gotta be a real moron to get it catastrophically wrong. Good results come easily. Excellent results come with a very little work. If you actually put in some hard work [especially with cast] results are very impressive. Not many calibers come so easy.

I'm not trying to stir up anything, but instead of looking all over town spending a bunch of time trying to save a dollar, you'd be much better served finding a store where the people are friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. I've never been to D&T but all I hear is good things about them. The fact that they're cheap is just a bonus. We are all doing ourselves a disservice by not supporting the vendors that do the best job to bend over backwards for us. Not a thing wrong with shopping, but it seems petty to drive across town to save twenty bucks.

Darn right it is! Much to many folks surprise, I use it in my cast .308 loads. My one complaint for Unique is that it does not meter as well as other powders.

I love #5. Use the heck out if. It has never failed to give excellent results. That said, I got 8lb jug of Titegroup from David a few weeks ago on his recommendation. I have been pleasantly surprised at well it does. It's very similar to Bullseye as far as load density and it meters excellent. I have about 1K 45's to size I need to get started on. I plan to load some with Titegroup and see how she goes.

For the eventual evaporation of surplus ammo, let me beseech you to invest in some case lube, a trimming tool of some sort and case neck turner. Take the time to learn to make the brass from 30/06 cases. If you're only going to shoot from THAT rifle, get a neck sizing die too. Even if you don't cast for it, I'm TELLING you; You'll never know what the 7,92x57 is capable of until you load for it. Commercial loadings for the American market are pathetically anemic. They have to be to contend with the idiocy that is the American gun owner. Manufacturers can't risk being sued over someone putting a proper loaded 8mm in an old comission 88 or maybe a .318 bore. This isn't an issue in European countries as people seem to be able to keep the distinction. I fired some Norma ammunition that was made for the Euro market. I'm not sure how it made it's way here stateside but it's noticeably hotter[very much so]. What the cartridge is capable of is amazing. Handloaded it will bang heads with the '06 and 308 any day, any time. The biggest suck-factor for hand loading it is the poor choices for brass and bullets. I used to get really great results with AA2520 and Hornady's 170g Interlocked RN and the 195g SP.

Don't listen to him 'Kid. The voices keep good company. Just don't do everything they tell you to. I don't have to worry about that myself because I can't understand what language they are speaking. I think it's either Sumerian or Akkadian but who knows.

Definitive answer on 9x19 capacity. It was asked how many will fit in a can, well, I'm out of 38 brass for the moment, but when I get back to it, I'll let you know. Loosely tossed in a SAW can, I can get around 2,300-2,350 rounds of 9mm per can. Wrapped in brown paper as I have been doing through out this thread I can get 14 packs of 125 rounds each for a total of 1,750 rounds per can. The loss in can capacity from packaging them like this is an agreeable sacrifice. So much the better for the ammo too. Less likely to damage one another. Besides, you ever picked up an ammo can with 2,300 rounds of 9mm ammo in it? Well, for those of us with compromised spines, it's darn heavy! The next neat little trick I will do for this project is getting the oxygen out. Oxygen is the enemy of all things long term. It is the great destroyer of stored goods. An ammo can is pretty doggone close to being a perfect hermetic seal. So how can we purge the oxygen? I have a great idea that I have already tested and it's perfectly safe. Also, it HAS to be one of the most effective ways to remove oxygen. Fire. A wad of aluminum foil formed into a cup thick enough to protect the contents from the heat and two or three wooden matches. Light them in the foil, set the burning matches in the can, gently shut the lid. When the oxygen is gone, so too will be the flame. Store the can in a cool dry place and forget about it. -

Hipower is right. Reasonably stored, ammo will not go bad in ANY of our lifetimes. After that, who cares. I've shot Turkish 7,92x57 from the late 30's that ran 100% and would leave a nice welt under your cheek and a purple oval in your shoulder pocket after 100 rounds or so. I started this thread and endeavor, NOT for greater shelf life but ease of storage, use and dispensing. I wanted something cheap and repeatable and be OCD compliant. I'm actually working on 9x19 today. Let ya'll know how it turns out. -
Start casting for it.

Not to be anal, but I'm assuming you meant magazine? Load em. Be sure your plastic cap is in place as the cap takes the load off of the feed lips. I load ALL my magazines. You can leave them loaded a long time. Personally, I rotate mine by taking the ones loaded longest to the range with me. I load them when I get home and move them to the back of pile. As far as how to store the magazines themselves, toss them in an ammo can, whatever. Dry and out of extreme temps, you're good to go. -
I spent a lot of time down that way as a kid It's hotter than the 9 planes of hell, sand, pine tees, mosquitos you can saddle and ride. Louisiana, what's not to love? Take in a mud truck race, you can get a paper sack of crawfish to eat like popcorn. Fishin' ain't bad. Squirrels taste like turpentine. Just rednecks of a different flavor.

Mediocrity mates with junk. WooHoo! -
It'nit strange how they seem to transcend generations?

You know that's true because so many of the other rap cråp groups of the world steal and sample ALL their music. Not many actually play their own, let alone write AND play it.
-
I hate rap with a passion but being a child of the 80's and early 90's, the Beastie Boys were a private, guilty pleasure. MCA passed away recently, I just read. Rest in Peace.

People today won't rise up from the couch and walk their fat @22 across the yard. What do you think?

Antique mortar cannon filled with large diameter balls. Super shotgun anyone?
-
I've been mighty close to getting one. They are a touch...well...funny looking, but so I understand outstandingly accurate and very comfortable to shoot. The stock has me fuzzled. I think I'd like it better if the pistol grip was gone.

...well, first you gotta get up off the couch. Then you .............Garufa? Where'd you go?

How long till then?

If you like Iron Maiden, Dio and the like, you owe it to yourself to check out Firewind. Lead guitarist Gus G. also plays for Ozzy nowa days. I've seen him play with Ozzy. His is IN-FRICKIN-CREDIBLE!!! Couple his skills with Apollo Papathansio's voice that can split ear drums and bust glass, they friggin' rock. It's awesome to see younger folk keeping 80/90s metal alive and well. Ever notice most modern bands play mediocre music and vocals are nothing but untalented screaming? Most modern metal sucks donkey. Press play on this video, turn it up loud and try not to bang your head so hard you cause an aneurism!!

If you can afford the space for a feel good item or two, do it. If it serves as a moral booster for you, then it's worth it. Personally, I rather use the space for another roll of toilet paper. They are on equal terms now and when TSHTF the TP will be worth more.
