So, I'm sitting here reading about this and that. Particularly the 6.8 SPC. The 6.8's parent cartridge is a dinosaur called the .30 remington. I've heard of it but have no first hand XP with it. BTW, it's also the parent case to the 10mm Auto. Cool. Well, even though I have no XP with the 6.8 I know it's a pretty good cartridge. Remington is trying to get their .30 AR off the ground too, that looks pretty cool. The .30 Remington though, replicated the 30/30 in every way only rimless. It's only about a 1/4" longer than a .223. With modern powders and bullets that could EASILY be shortened and still get better ballistics than they did with it 50 years ago. Wonder why they didn't try to develop something they had near a century of experience with instead of the .30 remington AR which is based on a .284 winchester case. That fatter case costs capacity and if people will ever wake up and smell coffee, unless you're at looong distances, you don't need anything better than 30/30 ballistics for killing long pigs. [humans] Anyone ever shot a .30 Remington? That model 8 it was chambered in is a super cool looking rifle. They don't make them like that anymore.

Sorry. That SUCKS! I've said it before, It's HARD to find a good commercial cast bullet. They can't get it in their head that it'd be better if a customer had to run them through a sizer than throw them away! I'd be mad if I bought something .450. If I bought some that were .455 though, I wouldn't say a word!

.452 should work just fine. Here's the rub though. Are you sure they're .452 when you fire them? Do you have a kinetic hammer? You need one. Load a dummy just like you were going to shoot it. Seat and crimp (if that's what you do) then pull it carefully and remeasure. Make darn sure your brass and/or crimp is not sizing down your bullet. It happens and it's frustrating because it's so easily missed. Many folks have given up on account of this little gremlin. I have had to discard certain brands/lots of brass for being too tight inside. Set them aside for a jacketed bullet. This problem is prevalent in straight wall cases. It's not an issue with bottle necked cases in a dedicated rifle because we neck size those. Neck sizing allows a good bit of control over inside diameter and neck tension by changing out a bushing or adjusting the collet depending on your die of choice.
