Impressive is the part about 200+ people being laid off due to poor economy but every one of them was offered their job back. Also the comment of going out of business before they leave their Penn facility. You just don't see that ethic in Amerika anymore. I don't smoke, but it makes me want to buy a lighter anyway.

Best piece of advice; Obey all speed limits and traffic laws on the trip down. No one is gonna ask any questions if you don't get pulled over. The hassle of paying a ticket or [God forbid] trying to tell some illinois cop you're not breaking any laws ain't worth any time you make from running too fast.

One of my very best friends had it. He has a few more but won't be parted with them. He's about twice my age and has had a lifetime to accumulate. Not sure how I got the privilege of being welcome to see what he has, but it's cool! I know a couple of gentlemen that are a bit older than me that I have made friends with and trust me enough to show me things. I'm thankful for it and will carry it to my grave. ANYWAY, zgunbear, I'm not sure if I would want to do that or not. It would depend heavily on what shape the guts are in. As far as the barrel goes, yours is in 7,63x25 Mauser correct? There's a place or two that can bore and rifle your existing barrel for 9x19. The problem is that the chambers on the Mauser tend to run a touch deep. You will most likely find that you can chamber a live 9mm in you 7,63x25 pistol. Recipe for disaster should you touch that off. This ain't what you want to hear but I would probably delegate it to parts. If I were you I'd find me another one that's a good shooter and have the one you have now for a parts gun. Parts are very hard to find.

It's cråp. It's just a bandaid fix for a generation of people with no education.

Oh, and as far as the bolt being jacked and the firing pin not moving. In the picture, You have the safety on. It's a three position safety. Fire, safe but the bolt can open and close, and safe with the bolt locked shut. The wing on the bolt shroud will move 180 degrees locking in the 9 o'clock, 12 o'clock & 3 o'clock positions. They rarely break. They are built like a tank. It's the reason it's the most heavily copied rifle ever.

They used very good steels. You'd be shocked at how well it'd clean up. You could bead blast that thing and then spend a few hours in front of a buffing wheel and it'd knock your eyes out. Reblue and put it back the way the Kaiser meant it to be. Also, you do need to be sure of the bore before shooting. Also, don't be quick to write it off if the bore looks sickly. There are several remedies to make it a shooter. Not the least of which......CASTING!

I've been saying for a short while now how my eyes are troubled by large calibers, so I went off last night and traded off some of my .308 stuff and I came home with this. It's chinese. 9x19 It is basically new. The pic looks like if has some bad spots in the finish but that's just grease running out of it. I think the chinese lube these with pork fat! Nasty!!! The grips suck but they will soon be replaced. I'm pondering what wood to use right now. If it runs okay, I'm going to track down a holster/shoulder stock for it. Also trying to decide what to feed it. The rifling is a touch shallow so I may go with a soft lead bullet, or stick to jacketed. I'm going to try to find the lowest pressure load that will reliably cycle. Parts aren't widely available so I don't want to pound it. This one uses a detachable magazine. I got the 10 seen here and a 20 round that hangs down a bit. PLUS, I can still use a charger instead of removing the magazine.

Hike for a 24 hour period with naught to eat or drink but water. You'll change your tune. Some of the swill I eat in the Scouts would turn a pigs nose. It was some of the best chow I ever eat. I remember a trip to Virgin Falls. We walked the whole trail. Dinner consisted of left over breakfast food. The aluminum mess kits SUCK, everything sticks. Eggs - scrambled, pancakes - scrambled, even the dang bacon got scrambled. Dump it in your tray, give it a meager dousing of kayro syrup and by God we were all licking the pans clean. Good times.

I'm gonna leave this vague [intentionally] but this isn't the only time a member has been less than upstanding. There's some damn fine people on this board, and the strays that come in and take advantage of that good nature really piss me off. Thanks to TGO moderator staff for their zero tolerance policy on the matter.

Can't go wrong either way. Personally I'd take the Glock.

While you are right, he ain't exactly a rocket surgeon either. -
Great little rifles for the $$$. They also make great little projects if you are inclined to smooth them out. They can be made to look incredible. 5744 is a great choice for that cartridge too. Wow, you're still burning that!?! You spread it as far as it'll go yeah?

TGO'ers have been saying it a long time: If you play stupid games.....you win stupid prizes.

One thing I envy of the other side. A leader with enough balls to speak. Say what you like about them, they do speak up. Just once I'd like to see a leader rise that would voice our opinions. I would dearly love to hear him say: Greeting fearless leader of Amerikan ghetto trash......Do your worst, for we shall do ours. -
Working in a restaurant about 15 years ago, I cut my finger on a tomato slicer [bad] manager took me to the hospital where I waited an hour for stitches. I bled through my bandage and when we asked the nurse for a little help, she rudely said we'll have to wait our turn. I left her a nice puddle of blood in the floor to clean up.

Budget gunsmithing or finally off the kitchen table

I have used some strange things to get some guns back together. I can see keeping a fork handy. -
