How thick are they? THick blocks of lead are troublesome.

Agreed!

May I suggest instead of an actual finish you use some good birch plywood for the top. I used 3/4 cabinet grade birch plywood. Then i rubbed it down with Johnson's Paste Wax. It seals it against liquids, preserves it but doesn't leave a finish that can scratch or flake off like a varnish or ployurethane. I also didn't want to stain my bench top dark, I learned from my last set up that it absorbs light and this new, lighter finish sure helps reflect light in a good way.

Lots of good options for a reloading bench but you will never be as happy as you will be if you design and build it yourself. I used reinforced end table when I was single. A modified school desk when I got married and the wife bought me my own building from one of those Mennonite builders and gave the cash to build the inside to suit me a few years ago. It got the stuff away from the house and designed the inside to suit me. I couldn't be happier.

Ohh cool. See, I knew it was something simple.

What's the little symbol under our names? Actually it's under our location. It looks like a little drivers license. I notice everyone doesn't have one but it's nothing to do with being a benefactor. I'm sure there's an obvious reason and I'm to dumb to see it.

One thing I remember from my hunters safety course (20+ years ago) 1-Stop 2-admit you are lost 3-build a fire That applies to everything. Stop! Admit the situation is bad. Start taking inventory of what you have versus what you need. You need water shelter and heat.

Once upon a time, there was a young Caster who owned several 1911s and loved them and was quite comfortable with them. A negligent discharge awoke him from his slumber. A Colt that would fire when the magazine was inserted was enough to entice the young man to seek his protection elsewhere. He found a world of plastic fantastic and much to his dismay he discovered how inept his shooting skills had been all along. His inability to accurately and quickly engage range targets were not a function of his inability or lack of skill but a direct result of improperly fitted equipment. I have this thing that once a gun fails me, I banish it for life. Many times with all it's constituents. I had a Garand explode in my face once. I guess it makes me a heathen that I don't like them either.

Truth is truth. Crow is dish best served cold.

Yeah but it's down on the list. I got worse than that, we've met, you should know that

My favorite 1911 was the last one I sold. I loved seeing it go.

This is Bob Barker reminding you to have your morons spayed or neutered. Goodnight everybody!

Best lesson she'll ever learn from you, though you may not teach it to her intentionally; NEVER rely on a another human being for anything you can do yourself. Personally I think all good Daddies should teach their little girls to NEVER put all their faith in a MAN. The pussification of america is destroying us as a people. Now more than ever men should be teaching their little girls to be self reliant and be able to survive in this world as well as the one that's coming soon. Awesome job Murg. Get her shooting straight and teach her to start a good fire using only one match and she'll be ready for whatever BS life has planned for her.

Watched the second episode on the DVR. It's losing me fast. I think the show has a lot of potential but they need to kill the stupid girl first. She's a friggin idiot. Too bad she's a main character.

I know people who do. It's been a real struggle to not start casting for .223. It's a proven fact, it can be done, with no leading and no issues with the gas system, but I have cast for 300 BLK in an AR and although there was no leading in the bore or tube, there was some deposits on the rear tail of the bolt and I don't fancy cleaning that again. Also, there's no real performance there. The ONLY thing the 223 has going for it is velocity. Take that away and you've a magnum Hornet. Whoopedy do! You just don't get anything for the effort whereas say, .30 WCF I can get equal performance to any jacketed bullet with my cast loads.

Buying factory ammo is against my religion, but I have reloaded many many of them. It's pretty darn good brass actually.

Nah, you're just tough as nails. Proof is all the licks you take here. Never seen a guy on an internet forum be the butt of so many old jokes and never have rude remark. A reaper will find you some day [a long time I pray] but I think he'll show up with a cold beer and cigar "God almighty I've been chasing you forever, here, you earned it! Let's go fishin' I know a good spot."

Your reasoning is perfectly sound, BUT IMHO it'd be better to have a dedicated blade rather than have it attached to your weapon. As a piercing weapon, you would have an advantage with a bayonet as the added weight and leverage would be good but I still don't think it would replace a good heavy blade like a well built machete or the like. I have a Gerber Parang on the side of my bug out bag. I've heard a good argument here against it as the blade is curved back, robbing you of mechanical advantage so I am thinking about replacing it with a fiskars brush axe. http://www2.fiskars.com/Products/Yard-and-Garden/Axes-and-Striking/Brush-Axe

AND he's still here. Definitive proof Heaven doesn't want him and hell is scared to death he'll take over. J/K

I bought a Jacket from Tractor Supply several years ago. Can't remember the name but it's built like a Carhartt but much alittle darker in color. I have a Carhartt too and I think the TSC one is much better quality. Plus, it doens't have those godaweful scrunchy cuffs I hate those!

I don't want the flu, why would I let them inject it into me? in 35 years, I've never had the flu so I'm not about to change it up and take a chance on getting it.

Well, remember people, the scenario is set in CHICAGO so a lack of guns is plausible. BUT, you'd thing in 15 years, they'd trickle back in. Not enough information yet. In a massive permanent outage, travel will all but stop so if you're in an area where very few weapons are present, they're undoubtedly going to be scarce for a long time coming. If I know us rednecks like I think I do, we'll be hoarding them more than ever here below the Mason/Dixon so like i said, it's plausible that a quality weapon is not to be had in a communist occupied city like Chitcago.

The premise is stupid as was stated. First off, mechanical diesel engines would all work fine. Magneto fired gas engines would work, that means generators and small engines. It would take a SERIOUSLY HUGE EMP to knock out EVERYTHING and I ain't buying it. I have a '66 dodge Monaco with a 383 and a point distributor. It'll be running in the worst of times. I have yet to discover anything in my studies that suggests an EMP will affect breaker point/magneto ignition. There's no silicone technology there so what's there to be hurt?
