Do you reload? If you answered no, then why not? Instead of wasting the $600 on another mouth to feed, why not drop the dime on getting completely tooled to feed what you have??? For $600, you could really get set up. Maybe not full bore Dillon but you could get a really good single stage press and all the accoutrements needed to load pretty much whatever and have enough left to go see David and have him hook you up with powder, primers, bullets and brass. It's your money, do as you wish, but you posted here for opinions and my opinion is that ANYONE that does not reload and has $600 to spend is fool not to at least consider it. It's rewarding in so many ways. *EDIT* Sorry, just read where you already spent some. YOu still need to consider it the next time you have cash to spend.

It wasn't immediately apparent in the first few episodes, but it is now. Daryl Dixon is a god amongst insects in this crowd. He has the tools, he has the talent. THe attitude and mindset is there without searing his conscience completely. Daryl Dixon is the man.

DON'T MESS WITH DARYL DIXON'S DOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Norman Reedus's little buddy.

This whole situation is BS. What the hell do keep Marines for? Why didn't they have a dozen of thm there. I'd like to know how things would have went down then. Do you know what a dozen Marines can do to a crowd of morons? Just 12 men! In the scheme of what we spend, how much does (9) M4's , (2) M16 DMR's and an M249 cost? Chump change and 4 American citizens would still be alive. Can't say the same for a crowd of idiot muzzies.

O's gotta go, that's for sure. I was listening to talk radio today while casting a pile of 45's and they were talking about what obamacare will entail if he gets reelected. I was pretty pissed by the end of the guy's rant. I've found a solution for all our politicians who think they are gods and we are beneath them though

Well, screwdrivers aren't particularly rare Finding a suitable replacement should be fairly straight forward.

Just reviving the thread. The day is nigh. I'm chomping at the bit.

Demos is great every time I've been. Nashville and the ' Boro are both great.

Ted's Montana Grill on West End is a great steak alternative to cow. The bison is very good. You didn't mention a budget. Stoney River is on West End also Probably the best steak you'll eat in Nashville would be at Jimmy Kelly's.

Yeah, you don't see too many Ruger race guns. I'm guessing that can be attributed to the fact that ole Bill never cared enough to build a better trigger. Shame. Their triggers can be made to be VERY nice. It just takes a lot more work.

Smith is a nicer gun "outta the box" but they don't have near as much potential. Smith doesn't get their own page of reloading data like "Ruger & Contender only". Ruger is like a 4 bolt main block with a 2 barrel carburetor. They require a couple of mods and then they usually blow the competition outta the water.

What diameter bullet for Mosin Nagant 1891/59 ?

Are you sure? Pretty sure they are a .311 bore. -
Okay, that's fair.

Oh, I'm playing. Count me in. I DO concur with Dolomite though. We need to know who we are shopping for. I mean, can you imagine what a sad joke it'd be, someone buying a box of small rifle primers for David?

So, before i knew it, I had cast about 500 bullets. Now what?

Well, that's all up to you Alice, the rabbit hole goes deep. Once you step through the looking glass, most never return. I wouldn't if I could. Either way, you're not gonna lose. If you give up, me or someone else will gladly buy the mold from you. -
Well if ain't illegal, it should be. What a butcher job to what should've been a decent little lever rifle. To each his own but I'll never understand people's fascination with making pistols out of things that aren't pistols. THat's gotta be one awkward bugger to shoot and no where near as accurate as a decent blackhawk and not even in the same ballpark as a full length lever rifle or carbine obviously. Seems like the guy is playing with fire even if it is legal. Skirting close to the edge with the feds is a good way to get burned.

Wow, looks like you had to pound the doodoo out of it to get it out. Another question, is this a gas check bullet? Here's what I'd do because the rifling engraving looks pretty deep, SO. Make you up a dummy cartridge. DOn't get scared if the bullet gets hung in the throat the first time you shut the bolt. Happens all the time. Just use a cleaning rod to tap it out, Just don;t CRANK on the bolt handle. If it feels tight, STOP. Play with lengths until you find where it's touching the rifling and the bolt closes. You might kill 2 or three more bullets in the process. Remelt 'em later. Next, once you have a bullet seated in an empty case that'll chamber, do a side by side comparison with another bullet to see how far the bullet extends into the case. If the base extends into the case that's bad. It NEEDS to stay in the neck. Two ways to fix it, throating reamer or try a different bullet. SO, let's say everything is OK to this point. Let's get your feet wet. Here's the quick and easy. Tumble lube a dozen bullets, you don't HAVE to use a gas check though it certainly wouldn; hurt anything. Drop 10.0g of Unique in there and seat to the depth you've already established. THis is a SUPER safe load in just about ANY centerfire. It'll be a bunny fart so don't expect to take elk with it. Just go shoot. Be amazed at how silly the gun feels with such a low power load. BUT, you'll learn a lot. Get it home, DRY PATCH only. Unique will leave some perfectly harmless soot in the barrel. gently wipe it out and then look for leading. Leading: THat silver wash you may or may not see IS NOT leading. Leading will bve readily apparent most of the time as it will be visible build up. The silver washed color that may be present is NOT [this bears repeating] leading and should not be scrubbed away unless you're switching back to jacketed loads. If you don't see any leading, it's time to work up a REAL powder charge and move forward. Like I said, this is what I would do. YMMV, others may disagree. I have found that tinkering with Unique is fun, accurate and educational. -
Firearms confiscation. How would it go down?
Caster replied to timcar86's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It'll start by civilians being asked to turn them in and people will be stupid enough to do it. -
Even a quote "unarmed" attacker can easily kill. If an imminent threat is there and I'm in fear of my life or the life of my wife, I could care less about less lethal methods. I figure if he don't back off quickly when it comes out of the holster, he's intent on killing me and that's what I'll tell the judge.

If I had to leave TN, couldn't shoot or hang out at TGO; damned if I wouldn't be reevaluating my situation and the value of the person(s) and thing(s) involved.

Red's got it. Calm down. Getting PO'd will make things bad. I bought a length of 1/8 brass rod from Lowe's JUST for this. Take a little Remoil or even WD40 and giver her a shot, then be SURE the barss rod is in contact with the bullet so it don't go jumping around. Using a wooden mallet or even a regular hammer if you're easy. Peck the rod. The bullet should move about an 1/8-1/4 inch each peck. Few dozen and it'll come out. Now, let me ask before you get started. Are you ABSOLUTELY certain of the alloy you cast with? Was there any chance it had zinc in it? Not that would be a catastrophe but zinc is harder and it will take more force to engrave the rifling upon the bullet and force it through. For now, focus on removing the bullet so you can start over. You're going to want to push the bullet the shortest distance so the rod is down the barrel furthest. This will help stabilize the rod and allow you to get the most efficient lick on it. WHATEVER you do, don't whoop the piss out of it, don't get angry or lose your patience. I once got a wad of patches stuck on an old Mosin bore. Took me all day to get them out. If I had started beating things, it could have been much worse.
