Dolomites right. The cartridge has massive potential. He's also the MAN to listen to when it comes to loading this cartridge. He's been there, done that, got the tshirt autograph and coffee mug. When you're ready, I'll tell you about the perfect cast bullet for that cartridge too. A beautiful little 100g round nose........

Savage is a good choice. My preference is a CZ 527. Look into the varmint model with the single set trigger. Mine is infinitely more accurate than I ever will be. When I miss, it's my fault. Every time.

Step 1: Buy a couple or three reloading manuals. Lee, Speer, Lyman ECT. Step 2: Read them. Step 3: Read them again. Internet forum knowledge champions are a poor substitute for a printed book. You'll thank me later.

For years, I used an old end table. I reinforced it to make it strong enough. I could sit in the floor of the living room with my back against the couch, watch tv and do what I needed to do. When I was done, I could break it down and slide everything into the corner, out of sight/out of mind.

What happens behind the gun counter, stays behind the gun counter. .......or by god it ought to!

Depends on the gun. You'll need to slug the barrel and each cylinder throat to see where you need to be. It will also tell you if you are about to hit a brick wall. Rugers have been known to have SMALLER throats that groove diameter. If that's the case, you're wasting your time until you get that fixed. Ideally the throat will slightly larger than the barrel so that the bullet can obturate and fill the barrel. If its smaller, the cylinder throat will undersized e bullet and you will never see results. You'll also need to take a sharpie and mark you cylinder and KNOW the throat diameters of each one. Finding the largest one and working with that will put in the right direction.....unless they are wildly different. Find the largest one, add .001-.002 to that and record it. Then slug the barrel and measure the slug. If its bigger, you may have troubles. If its not, then the corded number should be your sizing diameter. Find an appropriate sizing die or get lucky and find a mold that drops that diameter. Don't rely on what the book says it SHOULD be, know for a fact. Also know that you are not feasibly going to get a bullet too big. If it will chamber, you should be fine. Another VERY important thing, pull a bullet from a case before you start shooting. Load your bullet in a case you plan to shoot and then pull it with a kinetic hammer. MEASURE that puppy. It happens often tht the case will swage the bullet undersized, so find out. It's a pain getting all your ducks in a row but it IS worth it. Just ask any one I've learned from, or any of my loyal acolytes I've had the pleasure of enlightening.

I slit the sheet, the sheet I slit and on the slitted sheet I sit.

I'd like to add, the realization that soon, I will not be an asset to my family but instead, a burden. A lot of people are abhorred by the idea of "opting out" that has come along lately. Especially the Christian community but as I ponder myself costing more resources than I can provide, I can certainly understand that point of view.

Choosing from your list, I'd pick the S&W M&P...........then carry it to Guns and Leather and trade it in on a Glock 19.

Hippy told me once if you have joint pain....you're doing it wrong. I dunno what hell he was talkin about.

Worst part of getting old is the gift of wisdom, patience and understanding. An increased level of intelligence and often times a greater level of financial ability........and to be left with a broken, tired, nearly useless body with which to enjoy it.

We have a chihuahua who LOVES french fries. She rarely eats them but prefers to guard them against the cats. The cats are never actually interested, but she thinks they are and any time they walk by she growls and snaps up the fry in her mouth to hold it. It's really cute. When I see her doing it I always sing ....."I don't care, I'm still free. You can't take this fry from me." You gotta be a fan to get that joke.

Checka website called Campbell Yard sales dot com. You can get steals from soldiers who quit, upgrade or just hard up for cash. I see Danner boots on there regularly.

Maybe you could contact the JPFO for assistance? In my opinion, the JPFO is a much better organization than the NRA. If they had the financial backing the NRA had, things would be a lot different. They have more spine than the NRA, just not enough weight.

I agree David. Let the man rest in peace.

Im working to restore a very similar M91 Fin. I wonder if you might take some better pictures if and when you have the time. I'd be interested in seeing the barrel bands and the end of the stock. Great score!!

Not to be a grammar or definition nazi here but we do understand there's a distinct difference in a handloader and a reloader. I was a reloader for a long time before I became a handloader. Lots of people follow a recipe and stuff used brass so they can bang away. A handloader on the other hand is an anally retentive, obsessive compulsive, relentless person who is never satisfied with what he produces. There's always something I could do to make them better if only I could discover its secret. It's a never ending burden that we take on with pride.

What ammunition were you using. It's not fair to the rifle to expect great things shooting that comblock surplus filth.
The large pixelated bands in the explosion should be dead giveaway even in grayscale. Looks like a watercolor applied effect it's so bad. - OS
I'm going to go watch it on the desktop computer and see. Lot of difference in my iPad and a two foot wide iMac screen.
