For the money, you just can't beat Nikon. -
Powder quantity question from a reloading noob
Caster replied to subsonic's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I use 3.0g of AA Nitro 100 in my 9x19 load. I buy that powder from David for $23 for a pound. 7000 ÷ 3 = 2333 That's roughly 1¢ per round for a powder charge. -
Spots, I'll tell ya another good one to add here: Super Glue. Put a couple tubes in a ziplock bag incase the get smashed. Maybe double bag it or put them in a plastic bar soap box. You can repair nearly anything with it and, as I just did again today, you can glue flesh back together. I cut my finger below the knuckle joint with a serrated knife. Band aids suck there. Also, as you bend the joint, you break open the wound constantly making healing more difficult and more prone to infection. I doused the cut with alcohol, patted dry and glued the flap of skin back with super glue giving a small coat on the outside too. Keeps water and dirt out, holds fast and strong.

What is a good size for a BOB? recommendations
Caster replied to vontar's topic in Survival and Preparedness
When you are packing a BOB, it will NEVER be big enough.......when you are carrying a BOB it will NEVER be small enough. It's a bit of a conundrum. -
I have a hard time feeling sorry for anyone who is "feeling the pinch" because quite simply, you should have been prepared a long time ago. Living box to box is poor judgement.

I get all mine from Caster Munitions. A super exclusive, low volume, high quality ammunition maker.

Everyone is different but I noticed a dramatic change in recoil. Even with near max loads, there is zero recoil or muzzle flip.

Rifle tube, rifle spring, rifle buffer. Real easy. Tear her down, put the rifle tube on tight. Slip the rifle butt on and it's held in place with the upper screw for the butt pad. You don't need the receiver end plate with a rifle stock. I recently ditched the collapsable stock on my DMR for a rifle stock. I couldn't be happier. I'm long armed to begin with and an A2 stock is INFINITELY more comfortable. The only reason my other AR isn't an A2 stock is because the wife shoots it and the collapsable is better for her.

Yeah, but who cares about them? They're not men. The fact that have a penis certainly doesn't qualify them to be MEN.

If, in an alternate universe, this were a true story; How much would we love this president? What would we give to have a president in office that felt that way? *sigh*

THe 7,62x39 suffers the same anemia that the 7,92x57 does. It's loaded down. Notice military surplus will shoot better than Wolf and Monarch garbage. Careful load development with a quality rifle and components would prove this cartridge has a LOT of potential. 7,92x57 [8mm Mauser] factory loads are pathetic. If one could get factory ammo made for the european market, you'd see a dramatic difference. Properly loaded the 7,92x57 will bang heads with the 30/06 all day long and if MORE quality bullets could be had, it would beat out the .308 Winchester. That Russian trash is cranked out as fast as possible so they can sell as fast and cheap as possible. There is very little if any thought given to quality control. I have seen handloaded Siminov rifles shooting half inch groups at 100 yards. No problem. Even the ole' rattle trap Kalashnikov is VERY accurate if you would feed it better.

It IS important and here's why. You don't wear a uniform. If you were to put a piece of ghetto trash down in the parking lot after he came after your wife, that's perfectly okay, but others don't know who you are, ESPECIALLY the cops. Are you the aggressor or defender? Don't blame them for not knowing and taking you for a threat. SO, IF after you have stopped the threat and you have surveyed the area for more potential threats, you see the area is secure, you NEED to get that weapon out of sight FAST. When the cops show up, be totally forthcoming but get them hands where they can see them and damn sure they are empty. A defender getting shot by a cop because he still had a weapon in his hand would be tragic but I'd be hard pressed to lay blame on the cop. A man is on the ground pouring blood like a beer tap and you have a gun in your hand, what's he supposed to think? YES, deployment is more important but you don't want to be fumbling around trying to get that weapon put away either. Unless you're okay with putting it on the ground, and I am NOT.

East Ridge TN intruder stopped by armed homeowner.

THat was my immediate thought. You beat me to it. -
I think you have that backwards. White males are are NOT allowed to be offended. It's minority groups that have the right to be offended. I don't wanna start a race argument but it's politically incorrect to be a white male and speak out about what bothers you. ...unless of course you are disabled, on welfare and food stamps and a registered democrat.

Closing Gunshow Loopholes/Private Sales [Poll Within]
Caster replied to xRUSTYx's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If they want registration, I've never understood why they don't register the owner, NOT the gun. You get a drivers license to drive a car. No one cares what kind of car you drive. From a yugo to a vette. If you can afford a Bentley go for it. If all you afford is a beat up f150 go for it. If you act like a fool with your car, you lose your license. Drive without a license, go to jail. Explain where the inherent flaws in that process would be for gun ownership. We went through the process for our carry permits. Why not just make a cover all license? Got a license? Then you can go right down to the store and buy a suppressed SBR with selective fire. Or a bolt action 22. Whatever. Do something foolish, lose your license and potentially go to jail. Get caught with a gun without a license, g to jail for a LONG time...even life depending. I know the first knee jerk reaction is "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" but get real. They can, do and will continue to infringe and the only thing we do is make compromises. It'd be nice to make a compromise that actually DOES SOMETHING. If they did this and made the penalties for criminal possession so ungodly brutal and I think we'd see a major shift in gun related violence. Maybe I'm way off. Doesn't matter. There will NEVER be a sensible solution to any problem in this country gun related or not. -
If the NFA was lifted and deemed Unlawfull tomorrow
Caster replied to plank white's topic in General Chat
Couple suppressors. Short barreled rifles maybe. I have a few pistol caliber bolt action ideas I'd like to build with less than a 16" barrel. Not worth the NFA money though. Can't think of anything I really want. Full auto is fun and all but you gotta feed those stupid things. When I think of all the time I spend loading each round of ammo, I gt to where I don't even care for SEMI auto. -
I grant permission to begin lowering prices back to normal
Caster replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
TDR's executive order huh? About as effective other executive orders will be. -
Nope, its a 17 inch barreled Savage 110. I was running 4.0g but there was a few inches of elevation difference between 25 yards and 50. SO, I moved up a grain and point of impact is now the same. Dead on at 25 and 50.
-
You try arguing that with some people and they get almost violent. My MOST accurate loads have all been on the bottom tier of load data. Some have even been lower than that. I shoot a 100g cast bullet out of my blackout over 5.0g of bullseye. It will hold a half inch at 50 yards and that's a ten shot group.
-
Cz75 hands down.
-
That brings up a very good point. A Saiga hunter or even a VEPR if you can afford it would end it all right then and there. There's NO question as to the .308's track record.
-
The accuracy nuts will you that velocity is KING. Well, at long distances for extreme accuracy, maybe so. ...BUT, let me tell you; Inside 100-150 yards a 208g hornady Amax from the .300 BLK is absolutely DEVASTATING. Hold on in your hand. Imagine that sucker traveling sideways through tissue. If I were to go out for a deer this morning, it would be with my 300BLK bolt action and either a 208g Amax or a 235 cast bullet. At ranges you should understand before going hunting, the Blackout is a bad boy. Look at my videos of a 157g Cast bullet traveling supersonic into water. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GogUE66o5Ww Here's a 125g Sierra soft point with a max load of Lil'gun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fjxKY4i3I0

David! How 'bout a little warning next time?
Caster replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Looks to me like the smilies are moving faster. I dunno what you guys see. I've never seen little dude run so fast. Before, he just kinda trotted off. :leaving: :leaving: :leaving: :leaving: -
.300 Blackout is where it's at. You make it tough though, with no AR's. I think if you got into an AR in .300 BLK you'd change your mind.
