  1. I need a good shot of whiskey to clear the works. My heads getting a little outta whack. ...but some thieving bastage dank my booze! All that was left was a half liter of ......
  2. I just got my storage batteries.  I have a new battery for the camper, but the old battery is still good.  I also was gifted a NICE battery out of a Blue Bird bus thats only 2 years old.  I'm going to put the new battery in the van.  Using the old battery in parallel circuit to the big bus battery, I'm going to power the whole camper with lights and other goodies.    Any ideas where to mount the batteries?  NOT inside the cabin for sure.  Space is at a premium. I have a cargo rack on the back I could build a weather proof box and go there.  By far the easiest.  I am contemplating using some bed frame rails I have to build a rack UNDER the camper where the spare tire used to be.  It would be a little work but do you guys think it'd be safe under there behind the gas tank?  I can keep it a good foot away from the gas tank.  I could bolt in [not weld] two lengths of angle iron bed rail and the batteries could sit in the trough.  Then I could use some banding material to cinch the batteries down tight.  I might build or buy some battery boxes to keep them dry when driving in wet weather, yeah?   Any thoughts appreciated.

  5. I'll take lead over a fmj for ANYTHING. Even if I were looking for deep penetration, I can get a lead bullet in there as far as any fmj. I can water drop straight wheel weights and get it hard enough it will not expand at all. I'll also take a cast lead bullet over almost any other copper condom out there. There's very little a jacket can do that a PROPERLY PREPARED cast load cannot do. .....cheaper. Over the weekend I shot some 308's I loaded for a friend's hunting rifle. Without boring details, it penetrated 4 gallon jugs of water and mushroomed from .311 to just over .650. The first two jugs were shredded to pieces. This is a light load and recoil is about like a .223. Accuracy was inside 2 inches at fifty yards and that's a ten shot group, btw. ...Ohh yeah, it cost me about $7 for the fifty rounds we fired.

  11. Who's gonna die tonight. These next couple of episodes are reportedly shocking and bloody. We'll see. I can live without Andrea. The governor must die. I'm not overly attached to Rick or Michonne or Merle either. They just better leave Daryl and Carl alone. I'll be pissed if Carol gets it too. I would miss Maggie and Glenn but I wouldn't stop watching the show over it. If Daryl dies,I stop watching the show. Period.

  13. Bought this kit today at Harbor Freight. http://www.harborfreight.com/solar-panel-kit-45-watt-68751.html Going to set it up in in my van/camper. I grabbed an outdoor solar light kit meant for yard illumination I plan to use as well. I plan to set this unit up to keep a 12v tractor battery charged as well as the battery in the van itself. I also picked up one of these for my survival iPhone I posted elsewhere. http://www.harborfreight.com/1-watt-solar-power-pack-68691.html AND, I picked up this one for all my little batteries. http://www.harborfreight.com/portable-household-battery-solar-charger-68690.html I know precisely SQUAT about solar but I'm looking forward to it. Pretty simple I think. Everything pulls power from the 12v storage battery and the solar set up charges the battery. Sticking with 12v makes things work easy in the camper. I do have a couple of inverters to integrate. Please discuss and share ideas. I can see this one getting me very involved. As much as I love casting and reloading I need a break. I'll be moving soon, I hope to learn enough to have a very elaborate set up at my new home. A few questions I have for 12 volt DC, What kind of voltage/amperage/wattage drop can I expect over a given distance? OR, is at even a real concern? A small house, say, 30x40'; If I set a battery bank up in one corner will there be any significant loss going to the extreme other side? I realize that may depend on the quality and size of the wire used. Also, would it be a worthwhile endeavor to build a capacitor on the far side of the house or would spreading out the batteries be a better idea.
  14. A free market capitalist society works by selling high and buying low. Just because the commodity of the day happens to be something we love dearly doesn't give any of us just cause to defame those who .....(wait for it, the word of the day) CAPITALIZE on a ripe market. Who would be complaining right now if the price of Cabbage Patch dolls had quadrupled over night? Who was griping when gold spiked so fast a while back? You might not like it, I certainly don't, but it's not a fair assessment to say there ever has been a 'problem'. There is not and hasn't been a problem for the prepared person. Chance favors the prepared mind and the venture capitalists take big chances in hopes of big returns. Anyone who doesn't support this type of market, doesn't truly support the foundation of this country. We don't have to like it to admit and accept the fact that it's fair and those engaged in it are doing NOTHING wrong.

  19. Saw this on another forum. Looked fun so let's try it here and see where it goes. Please only add short lines to the story and let's see how long we can keepit going without interruption. I'll start. It happened one afternoon when I was out in the shop reloading. I heard a noise and stepped outside...... .
  20. It's a shame we can't charge DUIs with premeditated murder. You dumb sum bitches KNOW before you take that first drink. Stay sober or stay home. Kings to this guy. I'm with TMF. I'd like to see some more dead drunk drivers. I say it again, stay sober or stay home. Every time a drunk driver dies, I smile......but then I find out they took some innocent little fellas like these boys with them and it makes me furious. Sad, so sad.
  21. Don't kid yourself. Even Marines (God bless em all!) have to use what they're issued. It's some desk jockey th makes those decisions. BTW, what plastic fantastic did the Marines use? The M9 is steel and aluminum.
  22. I found a bic lighter a few months ago I had when I was in boy scouts. It still works perfect. That was over twenty years ago. I'm currently 35 years old and don't see myself living much more that twenty more. SO! I buy bic lighters and stick them EVERYWHERE. There's lighters all over the place here, plus I have a box filled with them. Chances are, there'll always be a lighter around for me. Only thing else I do is keep a flint and steel, pitchwood and steel wool in a tinderbox in my BOB.
  23. No it's not legal without an ffl. Can't remember what type but it requires a license. I can't keep up with my own habit, let alone other people.
  24. Congratulations! I'm very happy for ya. I love other people's kids. You're more man than me. No way I have what it takes to do it. Change the world, teach her right. Even if you don't believe, the words of Solomon are golden truth. Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he (errr uh, she) should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
