From this I am guessing you and I were in agreement when it was previously discussed that closing asylums a few decades back was not a good choice. I would look to finding a way to move back to that model. Obliviously we would need to ensure funding was there for treatment and protection of both staff and patients.

Well, Ive been a member here since Jan 2008*. I attended a couple of HCP court meetings with David once upon a time. I have been to several (more than I can count on two hands) meet and shoots we used to do alot. I've bought and sold guns here. My line of thinking on the availability of casualty producing weapons has changed. Probably when the arm braces first showed up. Las Vegas certainly got me thinking. Of course New Town didnt help either.

This line of thinking is what comes to mind when I hear people talking about more police, more SROs, more armed guards in public places. Who is employing these people? Who is training them? What is their career progression? etc. Seems like adding to the government by bringing in a group who have one purpose, stand around with a gun on their hip. Would they be LEO? Do they need POST certificates? Lots of issues with just throwing armed people at the problem.

And yet for any of those things we could have experts in the field discuss real means to lower those things. Like seat belts, speed limits, dui laws, etc.

You arent hurting anyone by owning firearms. We are hurting others by supporting and campaigning for decreased control of firearms. There are people here who want all restrictions on the ownership of all firearms and related products removed. I am obviously a gun owner. I have not given my firearms away. I have no plans to give my firearms away. I do not advocate for less regulation of the firearm industry. It would take me awhile to give you three things to "fix this" as you have to look at secondary, tertiary, etc effects and that is not my realm. I AM open to looking for some things and enacting them if we (as a country) find some.

Talking about firearms includes talking about firearm ownership. I am here to try and understand the lengths people will go to convince themselves that THEY aren't hurting their fellow Americans. To try and influence people to consider others. To realize that not everything written 250 years ago is infallible. One of the first mods here was a democrat. You all chased him off. I dont intend to leave voluntarily.

I went in many doors first second or third man with no idea who, what, or how many were on the other side. They knew they had one armed kid and many victims. Hard to fathom really.
