  3. I don’t have a car for you, but I’ll pass along our story as food for thought. I am a Toyota guy also. When we bought our first kid car in 2015, I looked hard for a suitable Toyota or Honda. Even older/high mileage Toyotas and Hondas seemed overpriced for what they were, even at pre-pandemic prices. I got some great advice from a friend who has a pack of kids that had already been through the learning-to-drive phase. He said to get something inexpensive, put good tires and brakes on it, and mentally write it off as already totaled. The drivers in the high school parking lot have all been driving 2 years or less. Accidents are guaranteed to happen. The chances that the car survives are low. If an airbag deploys on a cheap car, it is almost certainly totaled. We ended up buying a 2008 Mazda 3 with about 70k miles on it. It was 7 years old at the time. Base model hatchback. Nothing fancy. No backup camera, blind spot warning, etc. It came pre-equipped with some dents, dings, and scratches. It has been a terrific car and has since been passed down to 2 younger siblings to learn to drive. Youngest currently has it at college 2 hours away. It is 17 years old now and looks crummy, but still runs great. Our Mazda has been involved in a few minor fender benders plus a deer committed suicide by T-boning the driver’s door at full deer sprint. (Wife happened to be driving the car. She was unharmed Deer was KIA.) It is a miracle our Mazda is still on the road after all it has been through. My friend’s advice was spot on. It reduces stress in your life when you let the kid learn to drive a car that you truly don’t care about. View it as disposable. No need for a car that could go 200k+ miles in this situation. Save the Toyota money for the second car. Upgrade them before college after they have a couple of years driving experience. The second car has a much better chance of survival.

  4. I have a Russian molot vepr ak74 in 5.45 for sale. I have original box (slightly beat up but in tact), it has an ALG trigger, a triangle stock with pad (currently has a magpul folder on it), aftermarket handguard, and a repro sling. I also have 1000rds of Russian surplus (spam can of 7n6) 5.45. I am looking to sell or trade but I do not want cheap builds. I will update pics once I get home from work. This is the configuration I bought it in, but has a black grip of same manufacture now, and a magpul zhukov folding stock. Everything mentioned is included. Asking 2200 for the rifle and 500 for the 7n6. Will separate or bundle. Let me know what you got located in Franklin 828-280-0seven30

  5. This is my first 1911 I bought about 17 years ago, had many rounds through it over the years and the finish was looking pretty bad. Decided to tighten up the frame to slide fit and experiment with laser engraving before refinishing it with parkerizing, figured it was already in bad shape so I couldn't mess it up too much more.

  11. I'm not sure if you are like me, but my favorite handgun I currently have is a Les Baer Mono, beautiful gun in every aspect and it shoots so smoothly. Since I prize this gun so much, I only take it out for special occasions. Not wanting to over use my favorite gun I bought a SpringField TRP and it has now become my second favorite and most used gun for me when I go out shooting. Are there people out there with the same mind set? If so, let us see what it is

  12. Just stay away from those "QUICK LUBE" business or you'll have more than a oil change to pay for. I'd check around for some local garages or ask your neighbors or friends were to take it, if you don't have the necessities to do it your self.

  13. No, they'll take the assembled slide. They will remove the sights, and it's your choice if they put them back on (I think it's like $10?) or you can do it yourself. I should mention their turnaround (keep in mind, I live near Crossville, so it gave USPS a running start, so to speak) was under a week, door-to-door. Job was done cleanly and when I contacted them with a couple questions they were very helpful and nice. Adding a link, in case that helps (and no affiliation, just like their work): Wager Machine Works If you do end up needing a sight pusher for some reason, I have a few and would be glad to help you out if you can make it out my way. 16. Up for your consideration is a Colt 6420 rifle. The serial number dates this one to October 1987 per Colt. This is a transitional model between the SP1 and 6520 and includes parts from both. Some features include a 16" 1/7 barrel, A1 upper with forward assist and dust cover, 2-position receiver extension, slab side lower with standard size trigger pins and no sear block. The BCG is original, C-stamped with MPC on the bolt. I'm including (7) period correct 20rd magazines. 3 Colts, 2 Universal Industries, and 2 Adventure Line. The original box has been misplaced but I did locate the manual. Everything is 100% factory the way it came except for the muzzle device. It was replaced with an A2 somewhere along the way. Asking $1495 - Sorry no trades at this time. I'm available to meet around the Gallatin area. TNDL or HCP flash. Thanks!

  18. I have this identical double barrel cork gun. I bought it off eBay a few years ago. My attention is to put it in a gun rack in the back window of one of my antique pickup. Another one of those "round to it" projects.

  19. The slide aesthetic is very nice. I have an insane gen4 20 that I bought, basically because the factory finish, it's like ATACs. Like it was done with a sponge. Word is that Apollo coatings did them for G-money. I had to buy it. Too weird to pass up. It's not the Megastar but it's almost as cool.

  20. Drone fliyng over house at maybe 50 ft or more, not a problem. Drones looking in windows , maybe scoping out storage buildings, big problem. Will consider them a threat.

  21. Ford quick lane did have a special for oil change and rotation for 69.95. Not sure if valid now. Oil changes are crazy price with synthetic. Local Mobil wants 100.00 for Mobil 1 change plus fee for rotation. Still doing mine on carport using ramps with Mobil 1 with filter for 30.00. Any chance for you to have access to ramps on flat concrete or pavement?

  22. I'll definitely check out Wager Machining, thanks @larry1096. Did you have to strip the slide and remove the sights before sending it in?

  23. Our current setup in the Outer Banks of NC. I've camped in everything from tents under the stars, tents, tag along trailers , fifth wheels and Class A motorhomes. The ease of setup with our diesel pusher and flat towing the Jeep makes it great at this stage of our life. I wouldn't take anything for the experience in all of them. The only thing I know is time is not waiting, if you want to try something, do it now. Stay within a budget and no matter how much you spend, staying on top of maintenance is king.

  25. What a tough question! I'm not sure if I can name my favorite, let alone my second favorite. Lol. I guess it would be my Walther Signature PPK/S for days that I am dressing up. I call it my Tuxedo gun. Lol.
