Allow me to bring this thread back from the dead... So, twelve or thirteen years ago I started taking Krav Maga classes. It lasted about 4-5 months and then I quit. Work and other things in life got in the way and I just lost the drive. >>> Fast forward to December 2024 >>> While my brother in law was visiting for Christmas he told us that he and his wife had begun taking Krav Maga classes. They spoke about how much they enjoyed it, how challenging it was, and so forth. Given that several of my friends have been hounding me about coming back to join them at Krav classes, it set a slowly smoldering fire in the wet leaves of my give-a-damn. One of those friends started his Krav Maga journey 12 years or so at around the same time I did and passed his black belt test in mid 2024. Talk about something that catches your attention! Realizing that two of us took wildly diverging paths and one of us ended up with their black belt while the other kept buying progressively larger belts.... Yeah. >>> Fast forward to January 2025 >>> One of those friends told me on New Years Day, quite coyly, about a gift pass that he had for a free month of unlimited Krav Maga classes. It was the proverbial straw that broke the fat camel's back. "Say no more. I'm in.", I said. >>> Fast forward to January 30, 2024 >>> And now here we are at the end of my third week of returning to the art. Three classes a week, more or less. (I had to miss a Saturday due to family commitments) I totally suck at it. I've forgotten most of what I learned previously. I'm nearly 15 years older and probably 75 pounds heavier than I was back then too. BUT... I'm loving it. Clothes are getting looser. Stamina is increasing. I'm allowing myself some grace and mercy and allowing myself to be terrible at it, rather than being the usual maladaptive perfectionist that I normally am. It feels like the journey I am supposed to be on, embracing my limitations and imperfections, and trusting that the process will slowly erode both of those things while it also erodes some of those 75 extra pounds. The point of all of this? I just want to encourage you. You aren't out of the game until you sideline yourself. Life will try to sideline you, but it can't unless you let it. It may slow you down. It may limit you. But you don't have to quit unless quitting sounds like a good way to go out. Get out there and do something that challenges you this year. Six months from now, I hope to be surprised at what I've accomplished.5 points

Now that last week’s misunderstanding over the Tuskegee Airmen is water under the bridge, I feel compelled to share my interactions with one of America’s greatest unknown heroes. His name is Dr. Linkwood Williams. By the time I met him, we all just called him Doc, because he was a gynecologist. Doc was best friends with one of my best friend’s dad. The dad was Colonel E.G. Douglass. If you served in the Memphis Air National Guard in the 80’s or very early 90’s, you might know Mr. Douglass. Also, if you lived in the Raleigh Bartlett area around that time, you may have known them as co-owners of Douglass BBQ at the intersection of Stage and Covington Pike. What made Doc a great hero? Doc dropped out of college to become a civilian flight instructor for the world famous 332nd Fighter Group, also known as the Tuskegee Airmen. I’m certain that most of you know that even in the segregated military, where these men were expected to fail, they NEVER lost a bomber they were escorting, and were routinely requested as escorts by bomber crews. Amazing! IMO, outside of being a hero, he was just an inspirational man with a great sense of humor. He had every reason in the world to walk around like the sun rose and set with him, but he was more likely to just tell you a joke, and more importantly to me, he always remembered my name. Doc passed about fifteen years ago, but anyone interested in his story can watch this film about him that sits in the Library of Congress. It’s a little over an hour long, but well worth the time to learn about this history changing American! Reporter- “What the Tuskegee Airmen achieved was pretty hard to ignore.” Doc- “Yeah, I mean, you have to be totally oblivious to do so.” Here’s the link to Doc’s story, along with some screenshots I took from the documentary. The video flickers for about ten seconds before starting. https://www.loc.gov/item/afc2001001.62131/4 points

I have an FMK Firearms polymer lower receiver and a Chiappa M4-22 complete upper. The lower was built out with a PSA buffer kit and lower parts kit, if I recall correctly. Also included is an inexpensive red dot, and two magazines. The upper is an actual 22LR upper and not a conversion kit. It's fun to shoot, but hasn't gotten much action since I built it a few years ago. The barrel is threaded 1/2x28. I do have the rails that attach to the hand guard that will be included, but they are not pictured. Asking $280. I'm happy to meet within about an hour of Maryville. Must show TN DL/HCP and complete a generic bill of sale.3 points

I recently watched Shogun (the new version) and it made me go re-read the book (it’s been 30 or so years). The book took a little longer than the show, but I’ve never been a fast reader. My dad read Shogun and Rise and Fall of the Third Reich in two or three days each. My daughter got his reading DNA. He liked his TV too, though.2 points

Saw a guy once that thought he was CC. When he bent down his shirt rode up and exposed his firearm. It was in the small of his back. An athletic 4th grader could probably taken the gun from him. I saw another guy whose shirt was to tight and his firearm was printing really bad. Pretty sure I could have yanked up his shirt and taken his gun. Most people are not as concealed as they think they are. I work security at my Church and notice a lot of bulges where there should not me. (not sure I like the sound or that) Personally I think everyone is armed. I am working a armed event this weekend. Will be open carrying a G34. I have a good holster with a retention strap with a thumb release. Pretty sure its safe unless I get knocked out or killed. lol wish me luck.2 points

The majority of OCers I see don’t look like much of a challenge. Looks can be deceiving and all that, but most appear to be oblivious and an athletic 4th grader could probably take their gun.2 points

I have been using components bought in the past year to reload coated 9mm/135 for about .15/round (not counting brass). The 115 UMCs from RK would cost me .27 by the time they got to my door.2 points

I have filled it out the form electronically on more than one dealers computer and they were all adamant that I had to complete it myself and that someone else can't be answering the questions for you. If you have a disability and need assistance, I can see the need. If they ask you every question, you answer and they them complete may pass scrutiny but I would think it would be questionable and i would not want to participate in the method.2 points

I've put together several cars and trucks, but never a bike. It's crazy how many people can't change a battery out or drive a manual. The dealer wanted to put batteries in my jeep for the low cost of $980. Lol. It's always cool when someone can build something with their hands. It's even cooler when it's rolling art. When are you going to take it out on the first ride?2 points

I'm in the concealed carry camp. If someone wants to open carry, have at it. I don't want the bad guy knowing I'm armed, and I just feel like open carrying presents too much of an opportunity for the bad guy to want to strike before I get the chance. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.2 points

Here's a nice Smith & Wesson 4th Mod. 32sw Top Break Double Action Only. Orginal Nickel Finish and FactoryGrips, I believe the SS# puts it around 1904 not sure but I can look it up again. This will make a nice display for anyone who collects S&W Revolvers, I don't think you will find another in this good of shape. $365 CASH OBO FTF. I live in the Whitehouse area and can meet locally around Goodlettsville, Hendersonville, Gallatin, and Nashville area but can drive a little to make the deal. If you need more pics or questions please PM me and I'll try to answer them or send you some more pics. No Trades at this Time, Selling do to my Cancer Diagnosis has turned a bit and I need to put up some cash. Thanks.1 point

It seems to be the growing trend. I've done it several times here. 4473 comes up on a laptop, you sit down and fill it out with the keyboard, sign electronically and its submitted with a push of a button. But I did have to fill it out myself. Not sure exactly what's going on in the video. Maybe the girl is entering all the DL info and just asking the buyer questions which she adds to the form.1 point

Yeah I wouldn't trust the used market. I feel like the leap from 4070 to 4090 would be sizable though? Maybe I'm wrong? It would also be a lot cheaper than a 5090 that you likely won't fully utilize with gaming. (Total assumption) Bear in mind it's not all GPU, what CPU are you running? You don't want to bottleneck your performance because the proc can't keep up.1 point

One of these days these shoes might just chomp all over you....... ......dada da dada da.....1 point

I have done many 4473’s via computer at a dealer. That isn’t the issue. They still have to ID you, etc. not sure about if they type it in for you, but just being electronic isn’t an issue.1 point

Thanks for sharing this. The Taylor 700AWE isn't stainless; it's heat-treated white steel. That's a good price, but I'm looking for a stainless version. It will be a great gun for some lucky buyer. Cheers, Whisper1 point

Kind of of a drift from the OP listing... At CURRENT component pricing I recently handloaded 1000 9mm 124 gr fmj using BE-86 and SA primers. The 124 gr fmj were "blems" from American Reloading. They cost me $0.16/rd New non-blemished bullets could run you around $0.18/rd Edited for clarity: the $0.16 - $0.18 includes bullet, brass (range pickup), powder, and primer). The cost savings is most significant in revolver calibers: 148 gr coated WC .38 spl using TG, SA primers, and MBC bullets run me $0.164/rd 98 gr coated .32 H&R Mag using W231, SA primers, and MBC coated bullets are the same as my .38s. The majority of my components are pre-COVID but the above is based on current pricing because we can't do time travel ... yet.1 point

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8976710/ I watched this movie over the weekend. Nutshell: They are all sextuplets but do not know of each other's existence. The movie is about them coming together and meeting each other for the first time. There is one of the siblings that...eh...is really smart and nerdy and intertwined somehow into intelligence but lacks emotional intelligence. At the end of the movie, one of their siblings is sitting on a beach (connected via FaceTime) and says something that gets a rise out of them. The nerdy sibling says something to the extent of "I have drones in the area, do you want me to hit him with a drone strike?". It just...made me think of you keeping an eye on your Wife remotely and taking out threats she never knows about. Actually, that would make a great movie. International traveling wife that travels for fame and fortune but rich nerdy guy stays home all the time. She never understands or appreciates him at all but come to find out he runs a full intelligence operation out of his basement just to keep her safe. He never tells her and she never notices. Shenanigans ensue.1 point

I have had one for a couple weeks, 400rd through it so far. Only thing I changed was mounting an RMR09 on it. It’s not better than a Glock (at least not until there are additional grip modules available) but the ability to direct mount an optic was nice. No malfunctions so far, trigger is ok, accuracy is ok, iron sights are great if you don’t fancy optics, fits in Glock 19 holsters, slide serrations are well done, internal parts fit & finish isn’t as polished as I would like but it’s hard to argue with the price. It’s totally worth a sub-$400 price point.1 point

As stated before there are plenty of reasons not to open carry but being the "first one shot" is not one of them. It does not happen.1 point
-
Wow opinions abound. But like butts they all stink, including mine. Most criminals are cowards and leave if they detect a threat. Open or concealed your chance to fight back doesn't change. As for the argument might get others killed well if someone is willing to kill then either carry method doesn't change that. The video is someone's opinion just because you agree with it doesn't make it so. Train use proper equipment and keep your head on a swivel, how you carry is your choice and no one else's. This isn't a debate it's opinions and everyone has their own. If you want to prove a point come with facts, fortunately or unfortunately their are none, just opinions.1 point

I don’t get the point of the removable trigger module. Everybody thought they were the future when Sig put it in the 320, but they seem kinda gimmicky to me.1 point

I see much good stuff about that SFAR, and I've been impressed with ones I've handled at the gun store. But I already have too many guns that I hardly ever shoot, and I probably don't need more. Probably. Maybe. Gee, what do these cost nowadays.... Whisper1 point
