For what it's worth: Ya can buy a " large caliber " ( 308 ) bolt gun in the 700 to 1200 dollar range that will easily shoot into 1 moa. The Marines fought WW2 with bolt guns, not garands. The 308 size guns are good as far as ya can see if you do your part n know the gun. My pick in this range would be a Tikka 243 light sporter. These guns are accurate, light, n dependable. RE: The AR-15... There has been more BS written about " quality " ars than any other rifle produced. Most of the BS comes from the purveyors of these " quality ars ", and is nothing more than hype and pandering to the " pride in ownership " and " gotta have the best " crowd. A " budget ar " will shoot into about 1.5 to 2 moa... That's 3 to 4 inches at 100 yards. Your head is about 9 or so inches wide. You can homebuild a " quality " ar for between 600 and 800 bucks. The big hitters are the barrel, the trigger, n a good bolt. I like a lighter rifle now that I'm a septuagenarian. My ARs are in the 5.5 ta 6.5 pound range n they shoot very well... Ya can buy a match quality barrel for 250 on up. I use the Faxon ultralites myself, but there are plenty of good barrel makers out there today. I've been shooting rifles about 55 or so years now. I've never had one that could not be tweaked to shoot better than me. If ya want ta learn about shooting rifles, burn lotsa powder thru em. Don't be drawn to the idea that a better rifle means being a better shooter. Being a better shooter begins with shooting. here's hopin this helps a bit . leroy...4 points

I've played with AI a bit and I'm actually starting to find it useful as opposed to a gimmick. Amazingly, just a couple of months ago I asked AI to write a program for work. It spit out a very generic program that would have required a lot of tweaking to be useful. I asked the same of it yesterday and what it produced would really only need vital things like the company name added. The technology is developing so fast that just two months ago it was rather useless, while I could complete what would normally be 4 hours of work in 20 minutes today. For those who use Excel, I used Chat GPT today to modify a very robust formula. The formula in question recognized and performed a function with the character "x", I needed it to perform the same function for "o" as it did for "x". Although it seems that would be simple to modify manually, it was not. I entered the formula into Chat GPT. Chat GPT accurately told me what the formula would do, then I simply instructed it to "modify the formula so that "o" yields the same result as "x". It took all of 3 seconds to return a formula that worked. I would have likely spent most of my workday tomorrow trying (probably unsuccessfully) to modify that formula. AI is quickly becoming part of my arsenal that I use to be more efficient and portray the illusion that I'm intelligent. Don't be scared of this stuff. I can certainly see how it could potentially be harmful. But it doesn't have to be. Use it for good and make your life easier.3 points

You might think about adding alittle more detail to your post. I had to google it just to figure out what it was.3 points

Looking to sell complete Aero Precision M5E1 18" in .308. I have roughly 30 rounds through it. Aero Milspec trigger, Aero BCG, Aero Charging Handle. No Flash hider because because there was a suppressor on it and I misplaced the original Birdcage. It also comes with a Vortex Crossfire II 6-24x50 Scope and (369 Rounds) Federal 7.62x51 149 GR LC XM80 ammo. Can says 200 but I combined 2 cans into 1. The stock is a Magpul STR and it also has a Picatinny section I added on the bottom of the hand guard for a bipod. Comes with (2) 10 Round Magpul Gen 3 mags and (1) 20 Round Magpul Gen 3 mag. Only visible blemish on the gun is near the QD slot on the hand guard. Check photo. It came that way when I purchased. Everything else is in great condition. There's a little visible gun oil on some things but nothing a rag won't clean off. Looking to sell everything as a package for $1200. Open to offers if trying to piece it out. PM if interested. Cash Only. Located in Nolensville.2 points

Assuming I'm in a place where I'm not violating the law (ie not in a properly posted building), Karen can get bent. I'd keep doing whatever I'm doing and I'm the first on the phone with 911 to report an emotionally disturbed person who's making me fear for my safety.2 points

Winchester Model 1903 Rifle for sale. The Model 1903 is the first Semi-auto rifle made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company. They were made from 1903 to 1932. The first 5000 guns were made without a safety (no safety button) and were advertised as "automatics", but were semi-auto design. It is a blowback design with a ten round tube magazine. The serial number and consultation with the Winchester Arms Collector organization indicates this one was made in 1903. I got this from a Winchester collector in Cookeville, TN. It is in excellent condition. Buyer must be legal to own a firearm and willing to show ID for my records. Price is $1200 cash with pick-up in Manchester, TN. Let’s get started! I do not approve of Oklahoma being in the SEC now. Looked up at the TV and I thought Bama was playing Temple. Too many maroons now. I’ve got no problem with Texas except people erroneously think they are “UT” and seriously want to have a discussion about that. Go Vols!1 point

What if you were open carrying in, let's say, a busy mall, and Karen walks up, gets in your face, and begins screaming and acting all crazy about your handgun infringing on her safety? She won't stop, and soon a large crowd gathers to observe the spectacle. How do you handle this? Personally, I handle it by conceal carrying. My nature is to try and go unnoticed all I can.1 point

Marine Infantry were issued M1 Garand from mid-1943-onwards. But the M1903 Springfield served them well during heavy fighting earlier. If you are going to stick with a bolt-action rifle, I'd go with a No4 Lee-Enfield. I have one that will reliably do 2" groups with new PPU ammo. If you can shoot that well, you're doing great! And the Lee-Enfield is still a decent price as far as guns go these days. As far as other out-of-the box ideas: an M1 Garand is still a good option. Ammo is readily available, clips are still reasonable ($1-2 each), and you can get one directly to your door at a decent price from CMP.1 point

It's fairly common for something like this when a different party takes control, even if it's just a memo from the White House Chief of Staff instead of a formal Executive Order. Just a pause to let the new administration get their political appointees in place to guide priorities in policy and regulation enforcement for the various agencies. I'd like to think the Trump administration v2.0 will be good for gun rights, but I don't think it's a high priority. If we escape any bad ideas like the bump stock ban this time around, that would be nice.1 point

I saw 2 guys open carrying over the last couple of months. 1 was at Sams, it was busy and i was not in a hurry so i covertly watched to see how people reacted. Guess what? nothing, no one even looked. No one stared, no one gasp as he walked by, no one went screaming from the store. It was no difference than if he was not carrying at all. Good for him.1 point

My favorite 38 Special target load consists of a 148 grain hollow base wadcutters atop 2.7 grains of Bullseye. That equates to 2592 rounds per can if I don’t spill any. I wish I could get that kind of mileage out of a can of 4350 in 30-06!1 point

Maybe -- just speculating here -- it's because Tennesseans in general are smarter than Floridians. Cheers, Whisper1 point
