  2. Cleaning out my safe a bit... SN on this 32 hand ejector dates it to around 1906. It's chambered in .32 long. Lockup is good. The grips do have a section missing on the butt end of the gun - tried to capture this in the pics. It is only visible when looking at the butt of the gun. SOLD in the greater Mt. Juliet area. I just need to see a HCP or TN DL flash and confirmation you can legally own a firearm.

  3. I just came in after an hour of riding my wife's quad around in the snow. What a hoot! I'm probably too old for acting like a hooligan (68! How did that happen so quickly?) but I did it anyway. That thing is WAY more fun in 2WD than in 4WD in the snow. And this time of year it's pretty easy to pick a path betweeen the trees, although I did come pretty close to looping it when I found a hole that I couldn't see through the snow. I may have to do that again tomorrow, assuming I can still walk.

  5. Reading this was great entertainment. As always I don't care how you carry, it's about the person. Are you responsible, do you train, do you have proper equipment. I see concealed carriers that do it wrong, as well as open carriers. I shake my head at both. If you are aware, and you should be I'd bet you can guess who's carrying. I do both and yes I have a retention holster(level 2) for open carry, id say 85% I conceal carry. Carry how you want, don't judge those that do it differently then you. Do I recommend someone have an cheap unreliable firearm no, but if that's what they can afford I get it. I hate the way my wife shoots, but it works for her and she hits. Anyone who say their way is the only way, good luck.

  6. Old school German Walther PP for sale. This is chambered in 7.65mm or .380 for us non-metric speaking folks. Proof stamps show this as post-WWII production, as I understand. Well worn but older than I am! Comes with a single Walther magazine. $400 in the greater Mt. Juliet area. I just need to see a HCP or TN DL flash and confirmation you can legally own a handgun in TN.

  7. Can't find the other one I resized of them wrestling. I have zero pics of the pair facing me, can't snap it quick enough. He's about 18 months now and she's 4 years. Matilda outweighs Snoopy by 30 pounds and he can easily knock her on her butt. I'm so happy they have bonded so well, they are both velcro dogs and it can be a challenge to stand up when they greet us returning from work. I wouldn't have it any other way.

  8. I know that you specified shotgun. But, you also said it was for around the property and for varmints (two and four legs). In my part of the woods, 'varmints' usually means coyotes. Coyotes are usually at the max range (or further) for shotgun use. My recommendation would be an AR15. Pick your caliber, but I use 6.5 Grendel. It's instant death on coyotes, and an inexpensive IR sight will allow use in the dark. And, around the house, it's handier and lighter than an 18" barrel shotgun. (Unless you hang all sorts of crap on it). Just my humble opinion!

  9. Or a Shockwave with a pistol grip and brace. The 590A1 is an excellent choice.

  10. I saw 2 guys open carrying over the last couple of months. 1 was at Sams, it was busy and i was not in a hurry so i covertly watched to see how people reacted. Guess what? nothing, no one even looked. No one stared, no one gasp as he walked by, no one went screaming from the store. It was no difference than if he was not carrying at all. Good for him.

  11. Stand by for date, original date won't work. So I want to put together a big event where we can all show off our bbq rigs, eat some good smoked meat, and bang some steel after the meal. I'll smoke ribs, chuck roast and a pig butt on the smoker. Feel free to bring sides and non alcoholic drinks to contribute. Open carry of fancy leather and engraved pistols is encouraged. Bring out your best. After a big meal of smoked meat and sides we can retire to the back field to bang some steel with pistol and rifle. Address will be posted at a later date or sent via PM. It's in Oliver Springs. Please no alcohol or drugs, they have no place around loaded firearms.

  15. Not surprising from people who would complain to Starbucks that their security guards were armed. You know, the guys hired to protect the people complaining. The irony being all law enforcement except for County Sheriffs are hired security.

  16. Selling my Remington 1100, it’s the Sam Walton limited edition 12 gauge. Shot about 250-300 shells through it. Does need a new gas ring which is about $30 on Amazon so taking that into consideration. Asking $800. Thank you

  23. I'm not an OSU fan, but their strength of schedule was #23 out of 134 schools. Not really an "easy" schedule, and they beat some pretty good teams on their way to the playoffs.

  31. I haven't seen one in person obviously, but it looks like a very well thought out mounting process. It should be remarkably durable. One compliant I see/read is "Oh No! Not another mounting system!" LOL I get it. But we truly are still in the development stage of RDS on handguns. And this, for the reasons @TGO David, is, imho, a big step in the right direction of insuring durability. I only have 2 RDS EDC handguns. A G17 with a direct milled RMR and a G19 with a direct milled Holosun 509t. (ATEI) I really appreciate the cross cut mounting done for my 509t. It's rock solid. I do have a 407 Holosun on my Taurus .22 and a 507 on my Shockwave. But that isn't a good comparison to the beating taken by a RDS on a SD handgun slide. And honestly the size of the enclosed emitter of the 509 is not a "mailbox" sized attachment and carries and conceals quite well in my Dale Fricke Archangel AIWB holster. But it has a large enough window that it's remarkably easy to see. This COA looks to be smaller than the ACRO but with what appears to be a similar sized window. The very clever cut mounting looks like it will sink the sight fairly low allowing use of the proprietary Glock sights. And it looks to be strong. We'll see. I have no desire for one at this point in my life for one. But I'm interested in following this evolution. I think it's a pretty unique and clever collaboration. Just my opinion.

  32. I have one, as well as many other items that use watch batteries. I find the batteries unappetizing and expensive for human consumption. No warning label required.

  36. This is what you seek. I have many shotguns, most much more expensive than a Maverick, but the Mavericks are great guns. I like them because I can beat on them and not worry about it and they get the job done. The combo would meet your needs well and is very affordable at just over $300.

  37. The ones that are grip activated work best, sometimes too easy to activate. I’ve got one Shield that came from the factory with a Crimson Trace green laser/weapons light combo on it. It’s on the nightstand, but because I don’t like to inadvertently activate it when I grab it, like in an emergency, I won’t grab that one first, I’ll grab my Sig which has a very easy to reach switch under the barrel that I can touch and it activates the laser/flashlight like touching the bottom switch on a handheld flashlight, or push a little harder and it stays on. For EDC, I’d rather any extra weight I’m lugging around to be ammo.

  41. I've heard a lot of bad stories about buying firearms from BP. Makes me appreciate the pawn shop I use for my transfers. I'm rarely there for more than 15 minutes when I'm picking something up, but I get using your gift cards. There was a guy I know , A couple of years ago I, I mean he, was buying a new shotgun. He had recently moved and though he had updated his address with the state, he had not gotten a new license that reflected his new address. This is totally legal, and you are required to change your address with the state within 30 days of moving, but they do not issue a new license. Though the state doesn't require you to obtain a license reflecting your address change, (supposedly) an FFL can not use your DL for the transaction if the address is not correct. My friend asked if his hunting/fishing license could be used as his ID and the FFL said that it could. My friend then went into the TWRA app, updated his address, and showed the FFL a PDF of the license on his phone and got his shotgun. Gotta love government bureaucracy. Fun fact: a passport can not be used as ID to purchase a firearm because it doesn't list your address. Travel most anywhere in the world? Sure. Just not good enough for ID to buy a gun, unlike a state issued fishing license that can be updated on the fly.

  44. I told my wife that on the day open carry became legal I was going to put my 357 on my belt for everyone to see. I didn't, no one single reason, I just didn't. It's good to know that I can should I wish to. My biggest reason for approving open carry is not having to worry about flashing since I no longer carry IWB. Open carry is quicker if the correct holster is employed. Open carry will desensitize an overly alarmed populace. If everyone who carries were to carry open it wouldn't be an issue. People would see that there are plenty of people who actually go armed every day and understand we are not abnormal. For drawing attention to oneself, I haven't seen it to be an issue. I have seen (men primarily) people open carry both here in Shelbyville and in Murfreesboro and most people don't even notice. If you choose a good holster and pistol that doesn't stand out it would be the same as wearing two different shoes. Most people are so self absorbed they will never see anything. Now, I prefer stainless or hard chrome. I'm currently working on being comfortable with polymer framed black pistol other than my ever present P32 so things may change, but for now, open carry for me would draw some eyes. And I will most likely not open carry on a regular basis. I have also moved toward being "gray" as my hair led the way. I learned in the service to be average, don't draw attention, so there's that. Wasn't always that way. If you study and train, being dis-armed becomes a non issue. For example, in some situations my arm stays glued to my hip. Not hand on pistol, just arm covering it. Just habit when people are close. I have to add that my wife is accustomed to me constantly scanning when we are out. She has learned I'm not looking for another woman but rather keeping the one I have safe. My friends know that my lack of eye contact in conversations isn't lack of interest in what they have to say but interest in us not being a target. Just because one is paranoid does not mean there isn't someone out to get them.

  45. When I first started carrying I was a proponent of open carry for all of the reasons your friends have mentioned. The longer I carried, and the more experience I gained with firearms the less desire I had to open carry. The only benefit of being allowed to open carry at this point is if at the end of the day of range Larping I just want to get home, I can just get in the car and go and not worry about it if I have to stop and get gas or something along the way. Otherwise, there is no benefit to advertising that I have a firearm on me . my view at this point boils down to this. Should you have the right to open carry, yes. Should you open carry, no.
