  1. ***SOLD*** I purchased this knife from our very own TGO member and knife maker Grand Torino 5 or 6 years ago. I hate to let it go, but life happens. Here is information he provided at time of purchase: “11 1/2" OAL beauty with a false edge and hollow grind. The blade is right at 6" long. it has over 500 layers to achieve its look. It's about 3/16" thick at the spine. The handles are new product from Voodoo Resins. They have this unique look with the added aluminum mesh added into the blade. Very cool and different. It has SS pins and lanyard tube and comes with the combo kydex/leather sheath shown.” $175. No trades at the moment. Located in Nashville. Will ship for free at asking price. ***Additional photos in comments

  7. This is what you seek. I have many shotguns, most much more expensive than a Maverick, but the Mavericks are great guns. I like them because I can beat on them and not worry about it and they get the job done. The combo would meet your needs well and is very affordable at just over $300.

  8. ATF doesn't need to be abolished. They actually do serve a purpose. What they need is to redefine their objectives and stop being used as a political weapon for gun control. There are real bad guys out there illegally trafficking in guns. They need to be arrested. But leave the average gun owner and the LGS alone. Most of all, enforce the laws as written. They don't need to be "interpenetrated" to mean whatever you want them to. If ATF were abolished, that would mean their duties would have to be passed to another federal agency. Most likely the FBI. Are you sure you want that?

  9. In case you haven't already seen it, Glock and Aimpoint have collaborated to deliver a new variant of several Glock models this year, each featuring a slide cut with a new Aimpoint optics mounting footprint designed to work with Aimpoint's new COA pistol optic. Before you totally dismiss it as the answer to a problem that no one was asking, it really is worth looking at. Not something I'd rush to replace ANY of my existing Glocks with, but (a.) it designed as a package primarily meant for organizations looking to move to optics-equipped handguns, and (b.) it might be worth considering later in the year (or next) if you are in the market for a new gun and optic. 10. Hey guys, I have for sale or for trade an unfired Mossberg Shockwave in FDE. I have upgraded it with a top picatinny mount and a bolted-in side saddle w/ adjustable tension in each slot to account for varying width rounds. Unfortunately, I will be moving to CA next week and need to get rid of this beforehand. I would prefer an outright trade for another firearm that is CA legal. Also open to trades for ammo (.380, 9mm, .223/5.56). Cash price is $400. Located in downtown Nashville but willing to drive up to an hour or so away for the right deal. EDIT: it's a 12ga. It keeps saying there's an error uploading pics and I need to contact support; will keep trying but in the meantime I think I should still be able to PM pics.

  11. 870s and Mossberg 500 or 590s are the old standby, and a fantastic option. In particular I like the Magpul SGA stock options. The new semi-auto hotness is the Beretta 1300 or A300, but they are 2-3 times more expensive. Some caveats to add: 1) Shotguns are a thinking man’s gun if you want to run it well. Especially a dual use gun like you want. Get training on it and practice ammo management. 2) Put thought into your defensive round. I prefer Federal Flite Control, if you can find it. Contrary to conventional wisdom, you don’t want a wide spread. Pattern your gun at various distances and record your results.

  15. I tend to agree with this. I've had a 500 Cruiser in the bedroom closet for about 25 years. I don't hunt so I don't need the extra barrel but if I were buying today this would be considered. The extended tube on mine is great though. 8+1 00buck is good medicine.

  19. Not certain that will work in all circumstances. Pistol loads may only use 3 - 4 grains of powder. Brass will vary more than that.

  20. One can open carry a semi auto bazooka for all I care. What I will not do is disparaged, make fun of or call people names that may choose to do something different than myself. Seems we have enough attacks from the outside already. I bet if we all watched each other close enough we would find things about what we do with firearms that we do not like. Live and let live. Or maybe carry any way you want to.

  21. Thought I messed up and double charged a 9mm round. Talking on the phone instead of paying attention. I was having a little temporary issue with my LNL reloader but had a system to measure each round…. just did not recall specifically doing so on one case. So I had about 50 rounds to check. Bought a RCBS collet bullet puller. Great product pulling coated flat nose bullets. No damage to bullets, full recovery of all components. As it turned out…no double charge, but better safe than sorry. I’ve always said one can’t save money reloading if you blow your gun up and/or injure yourself and accumulate medical bills along the way.

  22. Guns handed down by family members are some of our most cherished. I’m sure many of you will have examples to show here. I have my Dad’s first rifle, a Stevens single shot.22 and a Remington semi auto.22 given to me by my grandfather. Yesterday my father gave me his Smith and Wesson model 19-4 Combat magnum. I have memories of seeing it safely protected in his bedside table drawer but have never shot it. He said he thinks he only fired it once or twice. Still looks like new.

  25. Agreed. My 500 is mission specific. I've read the staggard loading logic and agree with the principles. So, my house is open with only 3 doorways less than 8 feet wide so no issues with choke points inhibiting the swing. I have it for only inside the house and only loaded with buckshot. If I have to go outside I'll pick up the AR. I have a pistol on the nightstand with the job of getting me to the closet. Both the nightstand pistol and the Mossberg are equipped with lights. I wouldn't want the pistol grip version because of the lowered mag capacity and controllability. I still think the Maverick combo is a good dual purpose choice with proper loads and expectations. And of course, practice. I would like to have an autoloader just because and an old Wingmaster is on my list.

  32. For years, I just learned songs and skipped the theory stuff, but once I started looking into it, everything started making more sense. It’s wild how knowing a bit about scales or the circle of fifths can make things click. The "Guitar Theory for Dummies" book isn’t bad if you’re looking for something simple to follow. I’ve also used online music lessons, and they’re super handy for breaking down theory step by step.

  40. I read that article. I also looked at the stories he used as some of his reasoning. One that I noted was in Mexico where a CONCEALED carry guy had his firearm taken from him and used on him. So I guess the story is do not carry or pull your weapon for any reason because it could be taken and used on you. Another shows someone stealing a guys gun that was CONCEALED. So I guess it can happen both ways. Look just do not carry one at all and nobody will take it. Lol

  41. I told my wife that on the day open carry became legal I was going to put my 357 on my belt for everyone to see. I didn't, no one single reason, I just didn't. It's good to know that I can should I wish to. My biggest reason for approving open carry is not having to worry about flashing since I no longer carry IWB. Open carry is quicker if the correct holster is employed. Open carry will desensitize an overly alarmed populace. If everyone who carries were to carry open it wouldn't be an issue. People would see that there are plenty of people who actually go armed every day and understand we are not abnormal. For drawing attention to oneself, I haven't seen it to be an issue. I have seen (men primarily) people open carry both here in Shelbyville and in Murfreesboro and most people don't even notice. If you choose a good holster and pistol that doesn't stand out it would be the same as wearing two different shoes. Most people are so self absorbed they will never see anything. Now, I prefer stainless or hard chrome. I'm currently working on being comfortable with polymer framed black pistol other than my ever present P32 so things may change, but for now, open carry for me would draw some eyes. And I will most likely not open carry on a regular basis. I have also moved toward being "gray" as my hair led the way. I learned in the service to be average, don't draw attention, so there's that. Wasn't always that way. If you study and train, being dis-armed becomes a non issue. For example, in some situations my arm stays glued to my hip. Not hand on pistol, just arm covering it. Just habit when people are close. I have to add that my wife is accustomed to me constantly scanning when we are out. She has learned I'm not looking for another woman but rather keeping the one I have safe. My friends know that my lack of eye contact in conversations isn't lack of interest in what they have to say but interest in us not being a target. Just because one is paranoid does not mean there isn't someone out to get them.

  42. Bear in mind that you'll need a good supply of projectiles, powder and primers. Seeing how difficult it is to obtain primers, in particular, you should be sure that you have a committed supplier. A second thing to consider is liability insurance. It might make sense to talk to an insurer before committing too much time and money. Good luck with your project!
