Bump for a beautiful rifle ... but ... Kimber, if you really like it, use it! Quick story, my dad bought a beautiful new German made .300 Weatherby Mark V in 1967 for a hunt to Alaska that never happened. It sat in his gun cabinet sighted in but unused for 24 years until he passed in '91. My older brother got the Weatherby and hunted hard with it, with great success, from Ky to Colorado for the next 33 years. There are scuffs and dings on the stock, bluing rubbed thin on the barrel and bolt, that tell stories of many great hunts and downed game. I always thought he gave justice to a rifle that was built to hunt ... no matter how pretty it was.3 points

I just finished building a small deck on the back of my house. I had material left over so I had 2 tables that I made 20 years ago. I decided to clean them with a high-pressure washer, then apply Thompsons Water Sealer. While I was at it, I decided to replace the top on them. I had some Trek flooring left, from the deck, so it installed new tops on both tables. They looked good afterwards. The old tops were made with Yellow Wood and had become weathered and rough. Yesterday I walked to the range with he intention of practicing some. I have several spots that have very thin grass and when it is wet, I have a mud problem. I stood there for a few minutes and then remembered that my son-in-law had previously brought me a load of gravel to spread on the driveway. I had him dump a small pile, of the chip size gravel, for future use. I got my wheelbarrow and proceeded to haul loads of grave and put a thin coat of gravel all around the newly remodeled table area so we would not be forced to stand on mud while shooting in wet weather. I also installed an angled "rifle wing" on the shooting range table so we could put my Led Sled on it and scoot up without being in a strain when firing. I am a righty, so I lengthened the right side of the tabletop and proceeded to add 17" of additional angled tabletop to it. Now I just set my seat over next to the extension and am in total comfort while mounting the rifle and looking through the scope. The extension works rather well for rifle shooting and is a total compliment to the Led Sled. Now I can comfortably go out in any weather condition and not worry about cleaning mud from my shoes or messing up my wife's carpet afterwards. Improvements are always satisfying. OH, the things we do when in a state of boredom. I was home by myself, and all our holiday company has gone back to their homes. We had 24 eat at our home on New Years Day. It was an occasion in honor of my sisters-in-law 80th b-day party. My wife had taken SIL to the shoe store to purchase a b-day gift for her. I slept good last evening guys. "We Were Tired!" I am sore this morning but have a good feeling of accomplishment so I thought I would share it with you guys. What did you guys do yesterday? Edited to add content3 points

So I have to brag on my wife a bit! I have been wanting a SIG SAUER P320 for a while but been putting it off due to the price.I decided to sell one of my other pistols to help fund my new one. I sold my Taurus and was going to just save up the rest. Well I when i got home today from selling the Taurus My wife walked up and handed me the rest of the cash( she hides money around the house worse than squirrels hide nuts) for my new SIG and said "I know its the one you have wanted for a while, go and get it !!!!" I was completely floored so i drove straight to the gun store and was like a kid in a candy shop ...... now all that is left is to put in the trigger time and break it in well.2 points

I'm glad you live in so far away, I've already got a Highway Patrolman, but in my mind I can only think how badass it would be to have a brace of them to wear together. GLWS, that's a gorgeous piece1 point

I’ve decided to sell my Winchester Model 70 SUPER GRADE 7mm Magnum - W/Scope & Mounts, due to my inability to make myself take it to the woods. This rifle was setup with a Nikon Monarch UCC 3.5-10x50 scope, in Leupold mounts. There’s no bluing wear etc as it’s never been hunted, but having been shot to sight in it’s used.. so I’ll call it 98% condition. Absolutely a magnificent piece that I’ll never end up taking to the woods for fear of beating it up. $15001 point

I totally understand. I started selling off deer rifles about 5 years ago ... I averaged using about 3-4 different rifles per season. I started feeling silly about it and sold off quite a few, some that hurt like my Mannlichers in 6.5x55 and .243 ... a few Ruger 77s...at least half a dozen lever actions. I'm finally down to half a dozen deer caliber rifles and half a dozen varmint caliber rifles. Think I'm good to go now. I understand the recoil thing. I no longer desire it at 70. I sold my Weatherby Ultra Lite .300 Weatherby Mag years back...that one hurt ... my shoulder that is. Somebody is going to get a nice rifle from you, I hope they hunt the heck out of it.1 point

There are definitely some big differences between the two. Most importantly to many is the price point. Remington 870 is going to come in at a much lower price. Also, one is pump action vs semi-auto. Both are 12G and this 870 will hold the same amount of shells as the 1301, and both will get the job done.1 point

I really thought that Georgia was going to win it all, but now I'm thinking Ohio State, although any of the remaining four teams has a legitimate chance. The most important thing for me was that the filthy ducks fell on their faces. I didn't think that AZ State belonged in the playoffs, but clearly I was wrong. They were pretty good and gave Texas all they could handle.1 point

I'm a full service gunsmith here in Chattanooga (mill, lathe, restorations and repair, full custom match rifles and handguns, etc). I just finished manufacturing a select fire (full auto) MP5 for your rental gun arsenal over there at Shooter's Supply - I hope your customers enjoy it! MP5-SSRange02.mp41 point

I am honestly shocked that CZ decided to produce this. Not many manufacturers are cranking out .45ACP double-stack guns these days.1 point

Cutting zip ties at gun shows is very common. Any seller will cut a tie for you to examine a gun, make a holster or whatever. Then simply put one of their own back on when you're finished. Happens all the time.1 point

Yep, pure BS. 3D printers have come a long way, a good way to waste ammo and get a LONG stay at the Gray Bar INN.1 point

Speaking of zip ties, I was looking at a pistol at a booth at a gun show. A teenager was keeping an eye on the booth for a few minutes while his dad checked out the competition. While I was waiting for him to return to buy a pistol an elderly gent, likely in his late 70's, wanted to look at a gorgeous old Colt revolver in mint condition, but was frustrated that it was zip tied to a security ring in the table. The kid said he'd cut it off of there for him and turned to get some small side cutters, before he could turn back around the old guy had slid the blade of his pocket knife under the zip tie. He was kind of shaky and fumbling and I knew what was gonna happen so I asked him to wait, so he didn't scratch up the gun. Too late, he cut it by prying the spine of his blade on the side of the revolver and sure enough left a huge, ugly gouge in the metal. I said, sorry, I tried to stop him, but the kid was almost in tears. He pointed out the big scratch to the guy and said "my dad is gonna kill me for this", but the elderly guy and his wife just left. The kid was losing his mind, so I waited to tell his dad what happened and pointed out the man, now way down the row of booths. I didn't stay to see what happened, but I doubt they got any justice from the ordeal. I'll never forget that, felt so sorry for them.0 points
