  2. HK USP 45 Compact Stainless V1, date code AB (2001), for $1500. I'm the second owner. I came into possession of the pistol at the end of 2023. I have 200 rounds through the original barrel and 100 through the threaded barrel. All upgrades and updates listed below were made in early 2024. HK made a number of updates over the years. I wanted to keep the pistol up to date. Updates made were firing pin, firing pin spring, firing pin block, firing pin block spring, catch and hammer. Upgrades include match nickel sear spring, match hammer spring, extended mag release (HK45C mag release), meprolight tru dot night sights, recoil assembly, 2 x 10 round magazine and HK threaded barrel (Date Code CD, 2023). It also comes with the original box, manuals, factory test casing, 1 x 8 round extended mag, 1 x 8 round flat mag, all the original parts and Odin Valknut holster.

  3. An incredible humanitarian and an utterly shi##y President. We can thank him for 90% of the problems that we have in the Middle East and 100% of the problems that we have with Iran. Everything else nice said about his presidency is an attempt to whitewash history. I grew up in the 70's. I remember how bad it was.

  7. I changed to a Springfield XDs in .45 about 10 years ago. It's light, compact, reliable, ergonomic, and relatively inexpensive. I've got a Colt Defender, too. But the XDs is lighter and feels better to me.

  8. David... Like most all ambitious men who stand ( or stood ) on the world stage; Jimmy Carter was mindful of his legacy. His legacy wuz terrible. Carter earnestly set out ( I think ) to rehabilitate that legacy, and did to some extent. That success is evident by the comments we see here on TGO and elsewhere. I was 30 years old when Carter wuz elected; like you, I witnessed the damage, not just to America, but to the world. In sum: Jimmy Carter's damage to humanity in Iran and the Middle East far outweighs the home based humanitarianism he demonstrated for the last fourty plus years of his life. The Middle East is full of graves that that are direct casualties of his ( and America's ) actions as president. If Carter had any sense of reality, he had to realize the devastation and suffering his actions brought on the Middle East. I would like to think that it changed him. Here's hopin it did... That said, only God can give absolution and forgiveness to Jimmy Carter. Here's hopin he did. The consequences of Jimmy Carter's actions as president were nothing less than horrific. leroy...

  9. He had more success than people realize. The feelings about his term, coupled with the way Reagan's optimism told the tale of the terms after cloud things up a bit. Jimmy Carter helped bring Egypt and Israel to peace; pretty hard to overstate how important that was then and now. While Nixon may have went to China, Carter gave them formal diplomatic recognition. Domestically, he pushed deregulation in the oil, airline, and transportation industries. Yeah, a Democrat removing regulation. He also appointed Paul Volker as Chairman of the Fed, knowing full well the plans Volker had were likely to feel draconian, and his presidency would suffer just as badly. That and the "malaise" speech are a moral courage we just don't get anymore in our politicians. His life before and after the Presidency were pretty impactful too. I'm grateful for the service he gave throughout his life.

  21. It will not- Gen 5 Glock 17’s use the the glock 19’s locking lugs so not compatible with Gen 1-4 Glock 17’s. It will however work on Glock 1-5 Gen 19’s as it uses the same locking lugs(just will be a bit long)

  23. Here's an alternative historical sketch n musing y'all might be interested in: "...Jimmy Carter's family was far from poor. He was raised with a golden spoon in his mouth and was admitted to the Naval Academy on scholarship thru a bunch of back room political mascinations. I can't remember his degree, but he attended Nuclear Propulsion School when it was in it's flower and there wuz lotsa research goin on. He was dispatched to Britain to act as part of an advisory group on how to handle the Windscale Nuclear Disaster ( take the time ta research this one. ). He was critical of nuke power and thought the dangers outweighed the benefits. He came out of the Navy and became the Democrat Governor of Georgia, and later became a presidential candidate. There is one reason that Jimmy Carter was elected president in 1976. The presidential pardoning of Richard Nixon by Gerald Ford. This sickened the citizenry of the good ole USA regarding " the political class " and they took it out on the Republicans. Once elected, Carter picked a group of anti American, anti capitalist incompetent buffoons for his cabinet. He also set about upping the pressure on Iran ( as others had done ) to save and re patriate the " Real " Iatolah Komeni back to Iran, which destroyed modern Iran forever. Komeni lead a " revolution " that killed and displaced almost the entirety of the citizenry of Iran, and is, in fact, the father of the Iran you see today. He replaced a pretty reasonable modern moderate citizenry with mad dog Islamic jhadist shouting " Death to America".. Jimmy Carter backing and coddling of Komeni was principally responsible for the killing of millions in the Middle East, including what you are seeing today in modern Iran. He was paid back for this backing of Komeni by the new Iranian regime taking Americans hostage in Iran; where he held them and taunted Carter for his entire presidency. They were finally released when Reagan won in a landslide some 444 days later. Carter was just as inept at home, as he implemented a bunch of economic policies that caused an inflation rate north of 17 percent, destroying many middle class American families in the process. He appointed S. David Freeman as the Chairman of TVA to dismantle the TVA Nuclear Program. He cancelled 7 nuclear units and delayed two more. Jimmy Carter was a one term president who symbolized all that is wrong with the political class. He was consistently on the wrong side of every political and technological issue of his time. He retired into obscurity to be considered the worst president in modern times ( until Obama n Biden showed up ). Carter knew his political legacy was trash, so he set about to re-invent himself from a failed politician with blood on his hands, into a grandfatherly, seemingly kind, alturistic, simple, good hearted philanthropist who sponsored n helped poor folks into homes AKA " Habitat for Humanity ". This strategy worked over the 40 or so years since his unceremonious outster as a one term president who damaged America's influence, the American people, and the people of the middle east in terrible ways. This old man has the blood of countless innocent men women and children on his hands, not to mention the ruination of countless Iranians ( several of whom I worked with at TVA ) who had to flee Iran to save their and their family's lives... They were the lucky ones. Jimmy Carter's life has been far from that of a grandfatherly, alturistic philanthropist who helped people and served as an example to all... He is simply another scheming, dirty, foolish politician with blood on his hands looking for public approval and absolution, much like Andrew Carnegie. I simply will not give it to him. I saw first hand the damage he wrought in the Middle East, America, Israel, and the world... All this from a 78 year old crumedgeon who saw it all and felt it's effects. The truth is that I wished Carter had lived to be 150, so he could continue to remember, be sorry for, and hopefully, do pentinence for all the bad things he caused. Thus endeth the lesson from your ole buddy leroy who saw it all unfold. Do not mourn for Jimmy Carter... He was the " worst of the worst "... "...

  24. I own several FAL's, several M1A's and PTR GI model G3. Out of all of them, including a 18in FAL, is my 18in M1A. It just balances and feels right, but the Bush SAR48 is close second

  25. Steel AR550 level 3. last time I saw them at the gun show they were $150 for one plate. Now, that is gun show prices, so $150 for the pair seems fair enough. Would trade for 5.56, 9mm or .45 ACP ammo.

  28. I’ll admit I am a coffee snob and probably spend way too much trying new coffees all the time. I just tried a new coffee from Bucknuts Coffee and I love it. Group of deer hunters got together and started roasting beans. Picked up a bag locally here in Murfreesboro and it is the bomb. I still enjoy some Black Rifle blends—Blackbeards Delight is still my go to from them.

  34. Growing up in CT, we would walk out in the woods behind our house and shoot 22's. Never a big deal. One of my favorite stories about liberals- There was a gun club in a small town that was there since the 1930's. Pretty low key, mostly did trap and skeet shooting Sunday mornings. In the 1980's some couple from NY bought property close to it and build a huge house (it was their weekend house). Apparently the realtor forgot to mention the gun club-lol. Anyway, they sued the gun club and tried to get it closed down. In the end they lost, but the club spent a lot of money on a lawyer. Another club, the oldest in CT I believe, had a guy claim he found a bullet on his property about a mile away. He showed it to them, the bullet was still in the case-lol. But they still found a lawyer to sue them .There was a lawsuit, and the club had to put these blinder things on each rifle lane. So if shooting a rifle from the bench, there is a wall several inches above the barrel so as not to shoot too high. I hear it gets in the way of big scopes. Ive mentioned before, so glad to get out of that ****hole state You dont even want to know whats involved in doing a gun sale or trade there.

  35. I carried an Old Timer lock back in a sheath on my belt in high school. I never had a question. I've said before, I read an article by an old gun writer who grew up during the depression, he stated he took his 22 rifle to school every day and hunted meat on the way home. He said the teacher put it in the closet with the rest of them. Americans have been duped into it's a gun problem. It's obvious it isn't.

  37. It's awesome to have friends to shoot with, but it's even better to create your own. My 9 yr old grandson clearly favors head shots. Even at only 50 ft, I think he's doing pretty good for his age, especially with open sights. If he keeps this up, he'll be my 1st round draft pick in the zombie apocalypse draft. He shot a mix of offhand and with a rest. My dad was a hunter, so he taught me to use a rest whenever you can. I think that's solid advice for hunting, but I want my grandson to be more well-rounded. This is his favorite firearm, a Rossi Bravo lever action .22lr that we bought from a forum member last year. He might actually love shooting even more than me, LOL. We really enjoy the TWRA range, SRHEC, on Percy Priest lake. I think next time I'll see how he handles 50 yards with and without a scope.

  38. There are replacement barrels that can be had. Even original Long Branch barrels have show up. If you go that route, I would send it to a professional with experience with re-barreling SMLEs. Not a job for Bubba unless you want to risk a twisted receiver. You might look for some 8mm bore brushes. The SMLE has a .311 bore, not .308. So, normal .30 brushes sometimes don't do a good job of cleaning out gunk in SMLE and 98K bores. You might also try some bore paste. I've seen barrels I thought were hopeless turn out OK after an extremely thorough cleaning.
