  1. For those that have not met me I have always been a pretty big guy. One of my favorite sayings was I was not recoil sensitive. I have been over 300 lbs for the last 15-18 years. At my heaviest I was 419 lbs but for the last 5-6 years I have been around 380-390 lbs. With the help of my wife I finally decided to have weight loss surgery. So last year I started working with Vanderbilt to get ready for the surgery. Then I find out that my insurance will not cover it. I can still do the surgery but it would be 21-23K out of pocket. That was kinda a kick to the nuts so I stopped thinking about weight loss for the rest of last year. I was talking to my doctor at my annual physical in February of this year and he suggested I try the weekly shots like Mounjaro or Ozempic. These would have 2 benefits for me. One it would help control my A1c(blood sugar) and help with weight loss. So I took my first shot on February 15th. For the first 2 months I was on Mounjaro. Then there was a national back order and could not get it. So no shot for month 3. He then switched me to Ozempic for month 4 and I have been on that since then. This has been the only medicine I have taken that has made me not want to eat. This medicine works differently for everybody. I have been pretty lucky because I have had only minimal side effects and have lost a lot of weight. In the last 10 months I have lost 150.6 lbs. I went from 380.2 lbs 2/15/24 to 229.6 lbs 12/12/24. I have been seeing my doctor every 3 months while I have been taking this medicine. One other benefit beside the weight loss is that the doc has taken me off my blood pressure medicine. He is also considering taking me off most of my other medicine because my bloodwork is coming out so good. The hard part is going to be starting soon though. Maintenance. I have finally gotten in the habit of eating less. I just have to make sure I do not revert back to my old habits once the doctor starts reducing my dosage. One of thew worst side effects of lasing weight is being constantly cold. I use to rarely wear a coat. If it was above freezing I was in short sleeves. Now I wear long sleeves in the house. I bet I have worn more sweatshirts and coats in the last 2 months than I have in the last 10 years. For visual reference I went from this: To this:

  2. Updated 12/13/2024. Just got a text from Kathy and Jim passed away this morning. AuEagle (Jim) has been fighting some serious health issues for the last year or so. He fell recently and broke his hip. He has not been able to bounce back from the fall and surgery with everything else going on. He went into hospice last week. He hadn't responded to my texts the last couple of days so I knew something was up. I just spoke to his wife this morning and he doesn't have long left. Please keep him and his wife Kathy in your prayers for a peaceful passing. Jim and I have been friends for many years and I was at his house just a couple of months ago. He told me then he was at peace and ready whenever God called him home. The fall was unexpected and basically just moved the timeline up some. It's been a tough couple of weeks. Another dear friend who was my office manager for years and a 2nd momma to me found out she had brain cancer 4 months ago. She went into hospice yesterday. I visited with her this morning. I am always amazed how fast an illness can move. This is a reminder to tell the people important in your life what they mean to you now. Things can change in the blink of an eye.

  3. I texted him a few days ago and he is at peace with his situation. He knows his Savior is waiting to welcome him. I had the pleasure to share a pot of coffee with him a few weeks back at his house. A wonderful, knowledgeable man.

  4. The pics from the Texas hunt were the first time I had really seen the difference in a pic. I thought damn I look sickly. Luckily my health has never been better. The weight loss may be extending my life span but it sure has made me look older. l'll take it though. lol

  5. That's fantastic! Might be time to start into some exercising. I'll bet you'll be surprised by how strong you are. You can't be a weakling carrying nearly 400lbs around all day.

  6. The wife and I are close friends, too. Although you wouldn't hear him complain, we know that he is giving it all he's got to overcome his health afflictions and fights the good fight of faith every day. May God multiply His grace upon Jim and Kathy as we all pray for a victorious outcome.

  7. I am putting my CZ 75BD (decocker) for sale. It’s like new. I put 32 rounds (2 mags) through it to make sure it functioned and it ran flawlessly. It also has after market grips which I like much better. It was to be my bed side pistol, but I have something else now for that. Comes with the box, two 16-round magazines, all the goodies, aftermarket grips and the original grips. Asking $525. For sale to Tennessee residents who can legally own a pistol. TN DL or HCP flash. Located in Nashville.

  10. I know from experience how much better (and colder) you feel! I did the same thing with compounded semaglutide at my doctor's recommendation (no insurance) & dropped from 285 to 205, 44" waist to 34. I'm sure your doc already told you, but before you reduce your dosage, start making a food journal. Literally write down every single thing you eat. As you come down, refer back to your journal & treat it like a recipe book. It's really, really easy to add an extra ounce or two of food, here & there without even realizing. Stay strong Bill! The effort is absolutely worth it! It does get kinda spendy buying new clothes though, doesn't it?!

  11. I’m putting this out there to see if anyone is interested. If someone is, we can discuss the particulars off thread. This is a B&T StationSix 45. It comes with the bag, pistol, 2 mags, suppressor, and suppressor box. It’s a cool pistol but I just need to want it. I’m gonna take a bath on it, (I paid more plus my tax stamp). I have put exactly 8 rounds through it. It is my understanding that an NFA item (the suppressor) can be sold person to person with out an FFL as long as we are both TN residents. I would file the Form 4 and once the tax stamp is in the buyer’s possession, I can hand over the can. (I will do more research and discuss it with my FFL/SOT $1000. It is for sale to Tennessee Residents who can legally own a pistol. The buyer pays for their own tax stamp. Located in Nashville.

  12. You have Ozempic face. Weight loss in the facial area due to taking the Ozempic shots. I have the same. I went from 295 to 232 this morning. Still on it but weight loss has tapered off. Way to go. Once you stop the shots you must be careful, or you will gain some weight back.

  22. This is the bottom line right here. Safety is paramount. Legal or not, if you endanger others, you're wrong. 20 years or so ago I was at a group shoot up in Missouri. We were on one guy's private property and using a large hill as a backstop. One of the neighbors came over and complained that bullets were flying over his property and were dangerously close to his house. Frankly, we thought he was full of it and just wanted to be a PITA. That hill was huge, no way it didn't stop every round. But, just to be sure, one of our guys went over and took a look. 10 minutes later he came running back yelling "Cease Fire!" The bullets were ricocheting off that rocky hill and were indeed landing on this man's property near his house. There was never the slightest doubt among any of us. We immediately stopped shooting and never used that area as a range again. Safety has always got to be the first consideration.

  27. Congratulations! I've been on Ozempic for a while now, My blood sugar was ok on my old meds but I was having issues with it. Ozempic has controlled my A1C and I've dropped 60 lbs. Of course part of that was thyroid. I do feel better, amazing what shedding a little weight does.
