  1. I expect that we will discover that this is a handmade silencer. I also think that in light of that, he made a deliberate decision to manually cycle, the pistol, instead of attempting to manufacture a Nelson device to provide the requisite back pressure necessary to cycle a silenced pistol. His target was in Midtown Manhattan, and the likelihood of encountering any sort of armed response, was extremely low. That said, I do not believe based upon the reporting available that this was a pro. This was very likely a highly motivated individual with a personal act to grind who put a lot of planning into the assassination. The casings found at the scene had “deny“ “defend“ and “depose“ written on them. It is believed that it is a reference to this book. https://delaydenydefend.com/ While this particular solution isn’t in the book, it does appear that the assassin took the subtitle too heart and decided to do something about it. The online reaction has been something to watch. The Internet as a whole has pretty much zero sympathy for the deceased, and in many cases is expressing quite a lot of glee regarding the events. I doubt seriously that those in the industry will engage in any amount of introspection with regards to why the public has reacted the way they have, but I will be highly interested in this trial if they do catch him alive. I expect that his defense attorneys will put UHC and by proxy the entire insurance industry on trial. This guy could very well turn into a Marvin Heemeyer style folk hero, but at a much larger scale. Most people don’t have much of a beef with their local governments. The number of people who feel that the health insurance industry have wronged them easily numbers into the tens of millions, if not most of the country.

  2. Murder is never a reasonable solution. I have huge empathy for his family. They're living their worst nightmare right now. The shooter is definitely an amateur with an axe to grind. A pro would have been invisible. That said, having personally gone to war more than once with UHC over claim and treatment denials, I have no love for the system he administers. They F with people's lives for money that isnt theirs in the first place. They employ quack doctors who lost their license to review treatment for people they'll never see. Like banks, they're a leach. They provide very little value and suck billions out of the system. They're a parasite. Violence is never the answer, but like the events of January 6th, if this sends a message to remind certain people who their customers are and the power they hold, I hope some good comes of it.

  6. Welp....I went to the painter today. We had a long, meaningful conversation & he gave me a cost estimate. We then had a much shorter, more pointed conversation about how far up his a$$ his head was & if my boot would possibly help the situation. THREE-AND-A-HALF FREAKING GRAND!!!! Seriously. To paint a 2½ gallon tank, oil tank & rear fender! I've literally had entire cars painted for less! Needless to say, I'm currently shopping around for painters who don't have a secret, 5 gram a day coke habit to support I'm waiting on 2 estimates from a body shop in Tullahoma & another custom paint hobbyist in Murfreesboro.

  7. I'm also suspicious of the vent. The water going down the drain is pushing air in the pipes, which is supposed to escape out the vent. When the vent is clogged, the air follows the path of least resistance, which is back up the pipe in your case. My in-laws washer wasn't vented correctly so it would gurgle in their adjacent kitchen sink every time it drained. They never believed me that it was wrong until they had their kitchen remodeled and the plumber said, yeah that's wrong, and fixed it. Get a big stock pot full of boiling water and pour it down that drain with a funnel. That'll help clean the pipes.

  8. Speed Queen? We recently got a Speed Queen and had the same issue. I researched it and decided to stop using the ECO setting. Something about using less water on final rinse. No more suds. Now we use Permanent Press or Heavy Duty.

  9. Looks like a couple people with Speed Queens have had an issue like this. This guys video may give you some info to try and diagnose/resolve. Seems that the machines pumping out a lot of air during the end of a spin cycle after most of the water is gone causes this issue. He starts to explain this at about 3 minutes into the video. Ties into what tercel89 just posted, as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vevgJseIL0 Reddit post with issue, as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/Appliances/comments/18sws10/speed_queen_suds_coming_from_drain_pipehelp/

  10. I just did a load of clothes on the "Heavy Duty" cycle and there was no suds coming out the back ! My wife said that she has always used the "Eco Wash" setting which makes me think it uses less water and might build up soap. I think I'll run an empty load on hot water and a little bit of vinegar. Maybe it will cut any soap build up.

  11. I do feel for the man’s family. This has got to be a terrible situation for them and a horrible loss personally. On the other hand, this sentiment, doesn’t come from nowhere. For evidence of that, may I present exhibit a: however, it does appear that others in the industry might actually be taking the hint.

  13. I already had five bikes in the barn, and just bought another one. I'm not a "builder" like you, but I do have the sickness! My bikes tend to run more toward "go fast", but I've often thought of building a bare-bones Triumph hard-tail chopper. Maybe someday.

  14. I picked up my frame from the powdercoater yesterday! I'm running the tank, fender & oil tank off to the painter this afternoon. I shipped off my chromey bits a couple of weeks ago & they should be back late January or early February. Hopefully the painter can have my bits back around the same time. This is my draft of the paint scheme....

  21. UPDATE: Just had a very informative conversation with Smith and Wesson about this 629. Made in 2007. TALO Exclusive made for RSR group. There were 216 of these made before they started calling them the Trail Boss. Think I'll withdraw this for the time being. Smith and Wesson 629 3 inch ported. Bought this a couple years ago used from Guns.com. It's wearing a Hogue smooth grip. I do not have a box for this one, didn't come with one. It has the Mag-na-port style porting, but it's not marked as any kind of special edition like the Trail Boss. Someone told me that Smith was offering some kind of package deal at the time where the customer could pick the Mag-na-port option. I don't know. I don't have any way of knowing how many rounds are through it, but it has been a good shooter during the time I've had it. Shoots just fine with off the shelf .44 magnum ammo, but if you decide to roll some Underwood .44 hard cast through it, well, just grab ahold and hang on. EDIT: UPDATED PICTURES AND TRADES Opening up for interesting trades. Main trade interest is still a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 magnum - Bisley grip and unfluted cylinder only. This would include the Lipseys and Hunter models. Also interested in 1911 Commanders in .45 (true 4.25 inch commander), CZ 9mm, Sig P series 9mm. Others considered, or even multiple gun trades, as long as it's something I can use. Sale/Trade value

  27. The part about the manner in which it cycles that the nimrods at the NYPD miss is that you have to twist the back end to unlock the action to be able to pull the bolt back to cycle it. It does not match the way the assassin was operating the pistol that he had.

  30. Just a WAG, there is some detergent that has built up in the drain line in the machine. So it gets wet and suds when the machine pumps out. Try running a empty loads with hot water and see if it starts to clear.

  32. If you want a small pistol with a lil more power than that keltec, I cant recommend the bodyguard 2.0 enough. It seems so small, but just has the best grip out of small sub 9mm caliber handgun I can imagine. You can get this gun so low in your hand and with the bore axis so low, it has nearly no recoil and a great trigger. A step up from that I would recommend a shield of any kind, but if capacity is an issue for you then I'd get the plus. a step up from that, the 2.0 compact with interchangable backstraps is the best feeling handgun I've ever held. the shield and compact being optic's ready is huge too. Great triggers on all and all concealable. Then for home defense, you could use the 13rd in the shield or a 17rd in the compact to make it a full size handgun. but then again, I'm a smith and wesson guy who thinks glocks grip angle, grip shape, and texture are subpar. you can get a really comfortable grip sleeve for a shield 2.0 as well.

  33. Not to mention that the harshest condemnation I’ve seen about this has been “I’m not saying I condone it, but I understand.”

  34. I would attribute the live rounds to knowing it’s not a guaranteed cycle so choosing to manually cycle it each time regardless. I mean, if I had a single target and was using the same equipment, I wouldn’t quibble about a few wasted rounds to ensure my shots counted. Still, first shot hit him in the calf so we aren’t exactly talking about John Wick here. End results do speak for themselves though.

  38. The money potential from Alabama going to Notre Dame in the first round of the expanded CFP is too good to pass up. Anytime someone thinks the CFP is supposed to be all for merit, I remind them to think of the CFP as television executives before anything else, and their choices make a lot more sense.
