  3. I've had this gun for 8 years. Original owner. Purchased from Buds. Unfortunately, it became a safe sitter, and I need to downsize my collection. This is as rare of a precision gun as there is. If you know this gun you know the legendary legacy it has. This is the same action and barrel (just stainless) that the legendary M24 was equipped with. This rifle is clean. It has been kept in a dry safe it's entire life. Less than 350 rounds (likely less than 200 rounds.) Trigger is very light and adjustable. Crisp. Manufacturer: Remington Model :700 Milspec 5R Caliber :.308 Win (7.62x51 NATO) Barrel: Stainless steel heavy contour 5R Barrel Length:24" Twist: 1:11.2" RH Trigger: Remington XMarkPro Stock: HS Precision Kevlar Composite Metal Finish: Matte Stainless Weight: 8.25 lbs (3.75 kg) Overall Length: 41.75" $1050 obo PM me please. *Must be a TN resident and legally allowed to own a firearm. 5. I’ve always answered this question with a question, depending on the age/sex of the asker. For Women I ask them how many people they’ve slept with, and for men I ask them how much they’ve got saved for retirement. To me both of those are as personal as asking me how many guns I have, only my wife and those closest to me will ever know the answer…maybe. I will say that I really nerd out on keeping track of my inventory, to include detailed spreadsheets on round counts, how much I’ve spent on each gun to include accessories, how many rounds I have on hand for each, and guesstimates on current value that I try to update every year. At this point I probably spend as much time in the spreadsheets as I do actually shooting.

  12. As a spin off to NO compensators, does any one have experience with laser, Crimson Trace on edc, in particular a Kimber micro 9 Rosewood with CT? I've read a lot of reviews about fingers getting in the way etc. I have medium size hands with thin fingers, so I think that would be less of a problem for me. The big thing is this, the eyes just aren't getting any better! How well does the grip switch work?

  14. Maybe, but it also simplifies the shot. Simply paint the target with a a visible dot and pull the trigger; stance, body position, sight alignment, “finding the dot in a window” don’t matter.

  15. Guitar Case-Sold Violin Case (Middle). 9"Widex30"Long. $35 Violin Case (Right). 9"WideX26"Long $35 I used other ones when I lived in a Condo so the neighbors did not see a gun case when going to range or hunting. If fitting is required it is simple and foam can be added or Velcro to mount in place. I used mine a lot when checking into a hotel and not wanting to leave him in car, they are just great to have. Bring gun to check fit. Pick-up Nashville Airport Area.

  17. Not on many new firearms now a days. Seem to be mostly available an add on. Would only consider one built into the grip. Under barrel is a no go. Can be of use at home for a inside night time threat engagement. On the negative side, it shows the assailant exactly where you are. h

  19. IMHO, the best argument for a laser is that you can't always fully extend your arms and/or get a perfect sight picture. I'm gonna rely on proper stance, grip, and sight picture as my go-to whenever possible, but I think the CT laser grip on my LCP and the TLR6 on my P365 could be difference between a hit or a miss in the dark or when shooting from retention.

  21. I agree with you on the red dots. They stick out too much. Same on the doulbe stack guns. I remember reading what the FBI stats were on law enforcement shootings. Less than 3 shots fired at a distance of less than 3 yards was the majority of encounters. On a practical note, I have had numerous occasions to use my EDC to dispatch varmints on my property coming home at night. My Sig has night sights and have done much better with that than my Kahr, which just has white lines. This is where I thought the laser would be a big help.

  22. To me, lasers are in the same group as compensators and red dot optic sights, they are not needed on an EDC gun. IMO, 99% of situations are going to be close up, and probably going to happen fast, as in no time to think about anything. And this is why I dont carry anything big, with lots of rounds. A single stack 380 or 9mm is what I carry all the time. I dont see needing more than 7 rounds. Just my humble opinion of course.

  23. Yes, I seen that. Beating Pearl is quite a feat. I really thought this was Marshall county’s year, but Pearl beat them. Pearl was down 21 points in the fourth quarter against Marshall on the road and came back to win. If it wasn’t hunting season, I’d make the trip to C-town and watch a few games.

  24. They beat Pearl Cohn Friday night. We’ve always had problems with them. It’ll be a tough hill to climb, no doubt. I’m glad to see them get here no matter how it turns out.

  30. I think it's good for the newer shooters. Those of us who've been around a while tend to get into the newest, best thing and wind up at the range with some wild ones that are really race guns. The manufacturers love to sell more so they promote them. Can't blame them, they have to sell enough to make a profit on the tool up. Just as an example, I have a new "need" in the Kimber 2K11. I wouldn't EDC it but it would most assuredly see range time along with "yeah it's the baddest thing out now" or something like that. Now it's not comped but it is cut, funneled, adjustable target or optic sighted, two toned, light triggered. I don't compete, I don't need a compensator, but new people don't know they don't need a comp for a carry pistol. As far as opinions, I don't think a carry pistol needs optics. That's my elbow's worth.

  31. Well that changes things somewhat. I risk ruffling the feathers of the Vortex fanboys, but I am not a fan of them for a couple reasons. That aside, that Strike Eagle is a lot of scope for a deer rifle. Perhaps too much. It is a 56mm, which means you will have to mount it pretty high. It weighs 30 ounces (it’s kind of a pig). It’s first focal plane, which means the reticle appears bigger as you increase magnification and gets smaller as you decrease it. Sometimes on big magnification FFP scopes, the reticle is almost too small to use on the lower magnification (and I suspect nobody cares because the lower magnifications are rarely used on them). I haven’t seen a Strike Eagle 5-25, but I suspect the reticle at 5x (a good general place to put it when hunting) will be less than ideal. A 3-9x40mm is about perfect for a deer rifle, but a 4.5-14 or maybe even a 4-16 second focal plane scope would work and would provide some extra magnification for longer stuff. On a rifle doing double duty in a deer stand and shooting paper targets way over there, compromise is not a dirty word. Also, don’t get hung up on all the hype about bigger objective diameters. Yes, a 50mm will gather more light than a 40mm, but it has to be mounted higher (lower is better IMO) and it’s only beneficial at high magnification. I read an article years ago that explained that you can divide the objective diameter by the magnification and calculate this benefit. In other words, a 50mm objective divided by 5x = 10mm. Your pupil (where light enters your eye) is typically 4 or 5mm in diameter, so it’s overkill until you are at 10x, which kills your field of view. Welcome to the world of getting down in the optics weeds.

  34. Yes. as indicated the Vest Pocket Model came out in 1908. The Colt Junior aka Astra Cub didn't come around until the 1960s. It also has an external hammer making them easy to tell apart. OP has a nice gun there. Somebody should buy it.

  35. Astra came into the picture later I believe, with the colt junior. I think this 1908 predates the astra involvement. Right?
