I cannot remember where I heard this. But it goes something like this. You can live in a $5 million house. You can drive $100,000 car. You can own a $3 million boat. When you die, you will not be remembered for any of that. But touch the heart of another human being, and you’ll be remembered forever.4 points

I've seen a bunch of em. Looks like a Pontiac Aztec bred a DeLorean. Not enough bed to be a useful truck. A decent status symbol or climate change virtue signal I guess.3 points

Speed limit is 45. I'm no genius. That was just basic high school math back when I graduated in 1972. I seriously doubt anybody under 30 could solve this today.2 points

I am not offended. Being born in 1961 I wasn't available to ensure the Acts of congress in 34 and 68 infringing were thrown out as treason. I have voted conservative since the first election I was eligible. I have went into the school when my children were in and let them know they could not force their liberal acceptance issues on my children who were raised with Christian morals. I stand and tell everyone how foolish gun controllers "common sense' is. I have stood in front of a judge and told her she did not have the authority to make me sell my guns. (she backed down) I have refused to obtain a CCW permit because federal case law states that you cannot apply a fee or test to any God given constitutionally guaranteed right. Not because I couldn't pass the test or pay the fees, because it was wrong. I carried before our Tennessee lawmakers saw fit to have "shall issue" permits. Every sheriff's deputy and half of the city police knew it, knew me, and were unconcerned. I stand up for myself and vote for the lesser of two evils. Many voted for the man who used his office and power for sex and lied at every turn because "It's the economy stupid" was a good slogan. I had no reason to have a gun rack in the back window nor carry a firearm in school but I did carry a large lock-back in a sheath on my belt. I took vocational classes and it was a tool like any other. I won't shrink from the fundamental statements made in the bill of rights and other writings of those who wrote them and signed them. I have been counted, my beliefs put a target on my back and that's fine with me. I am tolerant but I don't have to be accepting nor am I to judge others.2 points

The biggest flaw to gov't assistance is the fact that they don't give people a chance to work their way out of poverty. They boot them off the dole before their first paycheck arrives. It's almost as if they want the poor to stay poor and dependent on them.2 points

FBI was looking to change guns after the 1986 Miami shootout. They were, at the time, still using .38 Special and wanted to go to a semi-auto. They started testing 9mm and .45acp. They wanted a cartridge that would have the same terminal performance as their .38 Special 158gr +P semi adjuster HP rounds. At some point, someone brought in a Colt Delta Elite with handloaded ammo. Testing revealed that the 180gr bullet could be shot at the same velocity and hit with the same amount of force BUT have less recoil than a full power 10mm Auto. And since that meant less powder and more air space in the brass case, they had enough room to shorten the case so it would fit In 9mm framed guns. Ta-Da, .40 Smith and Wesson (or .40 short and weak, whatever). Doesn't really matter what you carry as long as you train and shoot with it consistently. Just my .02. Hits count. You WANT cns hits, but in most cases if you damage the chassis, the targets brain will make them stop and assess.2 points

@10-Ring I think you may have missed that Moped got the Glock 21 trade-in which is .45 ACP. Not the Glock 22 which is a .40. So you suggested Moped change his .45 to a respectable caliber . . . oops.2 points

Not really other than MLB has a strict no-gambling policy, for or against your own team doesn't matter. It was meant to eliminate managers or players fixing games (like the 1919 White Sox), but fixing a game only works when betting against your own team, not for it so there's really very little (ie none) indication of corruption in Pete's case. The punishment was meant as a warning to others and Pete was made an example by the Commish.2 points

This is how liberal states operate. They rape the folks that work and have money. Especially the middle class, since a $450 registration isnt a big deal to a rich guy. Then they give it to the folks that dont work, kind of a payment to them to vote democrat.2 points

When I was in HS at Powell, in the late 70s - early 80s, shotguns in the windows of pickup trucks was a common sight in the school parking lot. I myself carried an Uncle Henry folding Hunter knife in a sheath, on my belt, daily. Try that now and you’ll get suspended if your a student.2 points

This is why there are no school systems adopting the teacher carry law. Our higher education system has good and bad points. Pushing socialist agendas and pacifist practices are positively on the bad list.2 points

I've been saying for years that the American educational system has been intentionally brainwashing our kids into stupid, liberal sheep. They've been playing the long game for many years and now its starting to pay off for them.2 points

I was a freshman in High School. I went squirrel hunting with a friend. After we went to school and went to class. I had a big Ford LTD 4 door like a tank lol I had put a old 22 cal Ithaca saddle gun single shot in the back seat forgot about it My fault I was 14 someone saw it I got called to principal office. He asked why. I told him I was stupid. He agreed and told me to never bring one back. There was not a swat team. No expelling that was the end of it I would be in prison today And we all carried knives No one cared Very thankful I grew up in that timeframe I wish the world was that simple today.2 points

I carried an Old Timer lock back in a sheath on my belt in high school. I never had a question. I've said before, I read an article by an old gun writer who grew up during the depression, he stated he took his 22 rifle to school every day and hunted meat on the way home. He said the teacher put it in the closet with the rest of them. Americans have been duped into it's a gun problem. It's obvious it isn't.2 points

Leftest commies are making guns out to bad all the way around. Over time our great grandchildren will be anti gun and vote out the 2nd. Commies are going to make this country over to their liking. All part of the plan.2 points

I know I'm old but I carried a pocket knife in grade school starting 3rd grade maybe younger. I also brought my father's K-bar and a Nazi dagger that my great uncle took from let's say someone who didn't need it anymore, to school for show and tell. Maybe it's the way we were raised compared to how kids are today, maybe it's the drugs we hand out like candy. I know one thing theirs a lack of respect and accountability, until that changes things will remain messed up.2 points

20 plus years ago, two boys were suspended for having a Smoky Mountain Knife Works catalog in school. We have not stood up against these stupidities until here we are. The adage of putting a frog in a pot of water and turning the heat up slowly comes to mind. I hope the family gets a Johnny Cochran type and tears the school system a new one.2 points

It's okay. They make a hog saddle also, but it's out of aluminum. This is for shooting from a trypod. The first time you feel inaccurate, but the more you run one the better it feels. Most guy start with a hog or pig saddle and advice to a arca/picatinny setup depending on the guns that use. I can't see myself not using a trypod at this point, but I've killed probably 400+ hogs at this point and I'm a gray haired man so I believe I'm always right. LOL1 point

Dear folks... The recent flooding in Greene, Cocke, Unicoi, and other East TN counties is the worst I've ever seen in my 78 years. I've been searching for a way to donate as close as possible to ground zero on this. The water supply systems in these counties ( 15 of em I'ma thinkin ) has simply been wiped out by the flooding, and these folks need food n water badly... That said, I'm asking for those closest to this tragedy to post any worthy local organizations that need dollars for supplies. I'ma thinkin churches, benevolent organizations and others, so we can build a list of " the worthy " and help these folks who do desperately need help now. I'll start off with one. " The Mission of Hope " here in Knoxville. They have already set up a giving page. The First Baptist Church at Erwin, TN can also accept donations. https://www.erwinfirst.org/ Our Man Johnny " B " also has some info here: Thanks a bunch... leroy1 point

I'd say so, they don't call it the Lord's Caliber for nothing. I own something in every popular handgun caliber (.40 included) and don't hold it against anyone what they choose to carry. I don't care for 40 myself but if others want to carry it that doesn't matter to me. It's just a whole lot of fun to stir the pot from time to time.1 point

As a younger fella, I've been hearing the "back in my day" stories since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Thing is, they will only ever be stories since we had the rotten luck of being born too late to experience life like it was in "the good old days". It's funny that the same people with the same old stories are also the ones still waiting for "someone" to do something about it. While y'all have been romanticizing the past while simultaneously complaining about how the world around us is going to hell, the opportunity to make any significant change has long since passed so enjoy your little story/therapy sessions while y'all still can. The world will simply continue to burn in the meantime.1 point

Thankfully, I grew up in a community where guns and knives were tools. The gun rack in the truck might hold anything from a rifle or shotgun to a baseball bat or crowbar, or even an umbrella for Mom on Sunday. From my earliest recollection my dad used to say "if a man don't carry a knife, he outta carry a purse."1 point

I think open carry is dumb and FAR too often the only people I see open carrying have some sorry, poor excuse for a holster and usually a cheaper handgun to go with it - all which tells me they are probably new, not very trained and/or experienced in actual practice/training. I saw one person at a family event open carrying a LCP, seriously!? Also, it screams "look at me, I have a gun, this means I'm xxxx". Plus if a situation comes up where you need a firearm, they have possibly already given away one their best tools - the element of surprise. If I was a bad guy going to rob or shoot up a place and saw someone open carrying, I'd just off them first then start the mayhem. And another thing, it probably makes anti-gun people more nervous and fearful for no real gain. Better discussion in my opinion, why would someone open carry? I'll give them comfort, but throw a button up or vest over it you got your comfort and concealment.1 point

Bear in mind that you'll need a good supply of projectiles, powder and primers. Seeing how difficult it is to obtain primers, in particular, you should be sure that you have a committed supplier. A second thing to consider is liability insurance. It might make sense to talk to an insurer before committing too much time and money. Good luck with your project!1 point

When I was a kid, in KY during hunting season, we took our shotguns to school and stored them in the coat room until school was out then hunted rabbits on the way home. A Yankee family moved in our community and the mother found out about our guns and complained. The principal made us bring the shotguns to his office, to appease her concerns, and we had to leave them there until school was over. Edited to add. I was in the 4th grade and 9 Y O. My friend was 10.1 point
