One part of TripleGGG is gone but will never be forgotten. The best dog I've ever had. 09-26-2024 Ginger was more than just a pet—she was family. She was the kind of dog whose wagging nub of a tail could light up the darkest days and whose presence brought warmth to every corner of our lives. From the first day she bounded into our hearts, Ginger was a source of unconditional love. She had that playful spirit, always ready for an adventure, but also knew when to sit quietly by your side, offering comfort in her quiet, gentle way. Her eyes spoke volumes—filled with kindness, loyalty, and the unspoken understanding that only a true friend could offer. Whether she was chasing after her toy frogs or curling up next to us after a long day, Ginger was always there. She had a way of knowing when we needed her the most, as if she could sense the moments when a wag, a lick, or a nudge of her nose could make everything just a little bit better. It's hard to sum up the depth of what she gave us—so many days filled with laughter, so many nights with her soft fur beneath our hands as we rested together. Ginger’s love was pure, without hesitation or condition. She taught us the true meaning of loyalty, of joy in the simple things, and of being present for the ones we love. Though she's no longer physically with us, Ginger's spirit will forever be part of our lives. We'll see her in the quiet moments of peace, in the familiar places she loved, and in the countless memories she’s left behind. Ginger may have had four paws and a wagging nub of a tail, but she had the heart of a giant. She taught us about love, patience, and living each day with a sense of adventure. And for that, we will be forever grateful. Rest easy, sweet Ginger. You were the best, and you will never be forgotten. Your paw prints are forever on our hearts.4 points

I hate to see what the next couple of days are going to bring when all the damage is fully reported. Can’t imagine the chaos these people are dealing with.2 points

What a loving tribute. Hope it hurts just a little less tomorrow, and a little less each day going forward.2 points

Sorry for your loss. I had a hole I thought nothing could fill when we lost our last dog. I didn't agree at the time, but I'm thankful my wife was smarter than me and pushed for getting another dog sooner than later. Turns out I needed something to redirect that love towards more than I needed to mourn.2 points

Unfortunately, I don't trust any of them and the reasons should be pretty obvious. More than likely, I will be voting independent or writing in a name. "That's just throwing away your vote!" "Why not pick the lesser of two evils?" Because I can't in good conscience cast a vote for either of the "sides" that have shown themselves to be unfit to lead the people. Our government has been out of touch for quite some time and the amount of money and power it has accumulated isn't going to be surrendered for the good of the people. That "representation" is gone. I'm not sure I believe the federal election matters anymore. Local and state have a much closer impact on day to day life and can make the difference when there is federal overreach (and - on the flip side - quite destructive if the wrong people get in). It's really hard not to be cynical and right now I can't see the country getting or keeping a good leader with wise counsel for very long. That type of leadership is exactly what we need to help correct and guide our course forward, but make no mistake it won't be one president alone that solves the issues we are facing. The other part is that we the people need to be honest with ourselves about our part in this mess. Everything that we have allowed to happen because of the obsession with convenience, our selfishness, fear and apathy. We have allowed our lives to become so busy and narrowly-focused that we no longer look around to make sure our country hasn't gone adrift. That being said, as a Christian, I know that God can and will flip evil action and intention for His good purpose (Christ has already won). I'm hoping and praying to be surprised this year for the better, or given "peace beyond understanding" and increased faith if He allows our country to fully enter the dark.2 points

I grew up in Marshall, NC a small town about 20 minutes north of Asheville. The entire Western NC area is having major flooding with 2 dams failing. Trees have been blown down and power is out in most of the area. The last texts I received from friends said it looked like a war zone over a vast area. My hometown has a foot of water from the French Broad River running down main street. The Pigeon River has washed part of I40 away and both directions out of Newport are shut down. People are stranded, missing, etc. Communications are down in most of the area. Below is a screenshot from an announcement by the power company in that area.1 point

My Lord. Prayers for all. Thanks to all for sharing the information.1 point

Yep, Hell-ene only blew the trees and loose debris around for a couple of hours. We're counting our blessings. Yet, it's not over for a lot of folks out yonder.1 point

Prayers for sure. I’ve got people in Keaton Beach and elsewhere in the Big Bend area. We’re expecting a total loss event.1 point

I love making crispy veggies like Brussels sprouts or sweet potato fries. Just toss them in a bit of olive oil and your favorite seasoning, and they come out perfectly crisp.Another tip: try making homemade chicken tenders. Coat them with breadcrumbs and a little parmesan, and they come out golden and delicious. As for something a bit different, I’ve been adding a splash of barley juice to my smoothies for a nutrient boost. It’s surprising how a little change can make a big difference in taste and nutrition.1 point

I could when a scout leader 50+ years ago but probably would need at least some barn burner matches now. Many years ago I was put in charge of doing a campfire for our church group. I didn't want to mess with a slow starting fire and laid a nice traditional fire but hid a large piece of wax log in the middle. A friend that knows more about everything than anyone else came up and started giving advice and I told him it was fine I knew what I was doing. Stuck a match back in the right spot and caught the wax log going and had a great fire. I don't think he ever gave advice on fire building again and I never told him about the wax log.1 point

Why can’t we have normally named gun stores anymore? Like Bob’s Guns or something. It’s all armory this, tactical that, and now “modern warriors”.1 point

Copy that. I only stopped in this time as I was looking for an item and had checked almost everywhere else for what I was looking for. Says a lot when I live a couple miles from them.1 point

In my feeble mind, the idea of OC ( other than hunting, woods walking, or on the farm ) gives away the greatest advantage of a pistola, which is surprise. The revolutionary war was won generally on the element of surprise. It works. In the two recent times I've needed an equalizer, it's sudden appearance made the difference. Nobody likes ta suddenly see a pistola in the hands of an old crunudgeonly geezer they thought they could easily push around. leroy...1 point

If they'd be happy with thermal then these are not bad and almost in your price range. I've had lots of Flir equipment. Not a single complaint https://www.flir.com/products/scout-tkx/?srsltid=AfmBOoop5JKIWiC7YrIljhMPqWRB9uAwE0ly6THgdAhnbi-7-sjGIC--MWo1 point
