That's awful , but he's in a better place I'm sure. I always wanted to have his voice in my GPS LOL . he was also fun in The Big Bang Theory when he and Sheldon went to an Ice cream shop and then rang Carrie Fisher's door bell and took off running . But lets get this out in the open , THERE IS NO OTHER VOICE THAT COULD EVER DO DARTH VADER !!!!4 points

needs a new home: Smith and Wesson Model 625-2, .45 ACP and Auto Rim, 5-inch barrel, excellent condition. These don't come up for sale often in this condition because many of them from this era have been beaten to death in bowling pin or falling plate matches. No lock, no MIM, just all-round revolver goodness. $11001 point

I feel like this is a sign of the economic crunch everyone is feeling. 12-24 months ago this would be gone in hours. I’ll give a bump to a great seller, everything he sells is better than described. Great guy to boot.1 point

I have an SPR that I built with an 18” White Oak barrel in .223 Wylde. It’s a tack driver. I’ve had it 10 plus years and it’s still serving me well. I can’t remember what contour it is, so I’m no help there. My whole setup is rather heavy but I expected that with how I built it. I think you will be happy with one of their barrels.1 point

As bad as I hate saying so, try Walmart. They used to carry uncle Mikes's like you're asking about. If that doesn't work, try ACE CASE direct. I have one of these that's over 20 years old and still works as intended. It's on my bump in the night go belt. Extra Mag Holsters (Various Sizes) Nylon | Ace Case Manufacturing, LLC1 point

One of our members posted what his investment was for his Cali shop. Cost would dissuade most. It's a long learning curve also. Mr Bowen is to my understanding a true smith who could build a firearm from scratch.1 point

The currently problem with “Ask the Teachers” is they don’t ask all of us, and then speak for us as if they did. I know of 10 plus teacher just at my school who want to carry, but we are denied by admin without even a conversation. There are also others who agree with the policy, but don’t want to have it known in the building. It’s not about arming unwilling teachers. It’s about not Disarming the willing ones. As for the societal issues… we can’t agree on what makes someone male or female. What makes y’all think we can fix problems infinitely more complex?1 point

And yet they sent him off to school anyway. If that's true, that's quite the amount of cowardice on the family. Pass off their problems on the school staff. As for security, the buildings I work in are far more secure than the schools my kids attend. That's a problem.1 point

In a one in a million shot, I find myself agreeing with Link...I'm as shocked as I'm sure he is. What is being described here is a variation of the Israeli School protection model. They use private contractors who are fully combat trained and are REQUIRED to engage any trouble. There is one way into the school... Period... The contractor(s) are at that door. These contractors ( guards, if you will ) are vigilant and engage anyone ( student or otherwise ) who don't look right or seem to fit... Random questions, random search... The ratio is one guard per 100 students. These guards are, in fact, guards, not older, ready to retire LEO folks. There are barriers around the school that cannot be breached with vehicles. There is one door in. The other doors are " exit only " and are locked to outside entrance. The guards continually move and surveil the school property after the students are accounted for and in class. The school principal knows the security plans, but does not administrate it. The security contractor does security, and the teachers and principal do teaching. I like these techniques alot. As others have said; we are living in a completely different world and society that most of us grew up in... It's way passed time for the individual states to get serious about this school security thing . leroy...1 point

I have 3 adopted children. 4.5 in total if you take in account the 22 year old I have treated as mine for 6 years. (He's not officially adopted)I have a safe in the garage, a safe in the bedroom, several interior doors require key codes. My Wife doesn't have access to either safe. She does know the key codes because one is to the bedroom door. To get a gun you need a key code for the room and access to a safe. Home defense guns are accessible from the bedroom, if you're in the bedroom and you know what to do. My Wife and I are armed at the house. 3 of my adopted kids have issues. The main issue is the absolute absence of emotions from my oldest son. He knows it's an issue. Guns are not apart of his life even though he knows its apart of mine and his older siblings. My youngest son is the opposite. If he witness something get hurt, he'd be devastated. We spend a ton of time in the hospital or Dr with our youngest Daughter. We have had a few issues with the old Daughter due to the amount of time we spend with the other kids, but it was relatively easy with her. It's a delicate balance with them all. Stuff like this scares me to death. My oldest Daughter has won F-Class championships at 1k and 600 yards at 10-12 years old. My 14 year old son doesn't know how to take a safety off an ar15. My Daughter is almost 21 and slinging cows blood on a white background at MTSU so she can get a degree in forensics. It's not always the parents fault however sometimes it is.1 point

The “change” everyone always harps on is not going to come from voting, elections, or the seriously pathetic excuse for people we have running the country from towns to cities to states and finally, the country. This is the society we have created. No one is responsible. Children have equal rights as adults. Those in government are self serving idgits whose only talent is talking. Rampant idealism with no grounding in reality or history. People pumping out kids and expecting the idgits to raise them but they can’t.1 point

I think some people just need to come to the realization of several things. First of all, if you or your 13 year old kid is questioned by the GBI, FBI, or whatever law enforcement agency for threats made in person or online, you have some major issues that need to be resolved. Secondly, part of that resolution sure as hell is not going to involve providing something like an AR to an obviously troubled child. Especially after the previous point. Thirdly, parents are in fact responsible for their children. Period. If you enable your child who already has a “history”, you are culpable. i could go on but there is no point. Many of us grew up in a very different time. Unfortunately, times and people have changed…for the worse. Oh, and if things like this continue “they” will take all the guns, regardless of the constitution, although the idea is absurd.1 point

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. By "securely stored" I meant to imply that the father would also securely store the key and/or combination as well. I think it's safe to assume that the son was unsupervised when he accessed the rifle and shot up the school. This notion that parents shouldn't be accountable for the actions of their kids is one of the main problems with our society. Complicity is not the only reason for liability. Negligence counts too. If you have a child you should be a parent.1 point

If your kid causes trouble, the repercussion falls on you as a parent until they reach the age of 18. Sometimes bad kids come from good parents, but that is an anomaly in my experience.1 point

As I get older, I am enjoying shooting the old guns more and more. Especially those that use black powder. This is a reproduction of a Sharps 1874 in the "Gemmer" style with the cleaning rod running beneath the barrel. It is chambered for 45-70, has a 32" barrel and is crazy accurate. I have just added the venier tang sights and look forward to seeing what they add at longer distances. While I have fired some factory loads through it, it works best with the black powder loads that a friend of mine creates. He has all of the equipment to cast and load all calibers and the process that goes into finding just the right grain of bullet, the primer and of course, the amount of powder is just a fascinating thing to work with. I have a lot to learn, for sure.1 point

Here's what I found on another site. I cannot verify it's accuracy. I actually think there are a few post war transitions in the 535xxx range. Without a factory letter, I wouldn't know how to know for sure, but I expect you'd be safe in describing it as either a pre war model, or else an unsolved mystery. I take the word "transitional" to mean they used up whatever parts were available at the time while in the process of making changes. WWII was a pivotal and tough time in our nation's history. Manufacturers were trying to keep the bills paid while gearing up for wartime production, and then later, transitioning back to commercial production. Collectors stress over such issues, but collectors seek pristine examples. To me, this one represents a well used I frame 22, which is still desirable in it's own right. Were I buying it, pre war/post war would not make a difference on what I would pay. Fact is I've been impatiently waiting to see you post it in the classifieds.1 point
