1) You are correct on the whole about teachers an admin. Those like me are a minority, but we are there, and in greater numbers than many appreciate. 2) My vision is that armed teachers and SROs work to complement each others. Armed teachers essentially acting as hard points to “fix” an attacker in place, while SROs can close with, Flank and Finish. 3) This is pretty accurate historically. I’ve done fairly comprehensive research on the School Attack issue, and while Security Personnel have failed and fled in the face of an attack, I do not have a single case of a teacher doing the same. Instead you have numerous examples of men like Aaron Feiss of Stoneman-Douglass, who made a 40 yard dash under fire, taking several wounds in the process, and dying with muzzle burns on his hands BECAUSE HE GOT TO THE B*******. Sorry, I get emotional with this stuff.5 points

The currently problem with “Ask the Teachers” is they don’t ask all of us, and then speak for us as if they did. I know of 10 plus teacher just at my school who want to carry, but we are denied by admin without even a conversation. There are also others who agree with the policy, but don’t want to have it known in the building. It’s not about arming unwilling teachers. It’s about not Disarming the willing ones. As for the societal issues… we can’t agree on what makes someone male or female. What makes y’all think we can fix problems infinitely more complex?5 points

After reading stuff like this, I'm seriously considering carrying my AR in the car now. Currently I only have my EDC pistol with me in my vehicles.4 points

I think that parents have to come to grips with the great truth that the education profession at the managerial and political level is, by and large, an idealistic, even jhadistic group of folks who; on the whole, disagree with the Second Amendment and intend to usurp its implementation in school self defense in every way possible. They tend operate under the Ole " we are experts and we know best " axiom of all those who know what's best for us " Delightful Rustics " and their progeny. After all, they are experts and the smartest people in the room. That is exactly why teachers should be teachers and SROs should be charged with the protection of life and limb in schools. The " Armededucator " is a very distinct minority in the teaching profession. I am thankful that he is willing to speak the truth and stand up for the protection of students in his care. I think there are other educators who would selflessly sacrifice their personal safety to stop a shooter, but could not bring themselves to shoot back to stop a threat when seconds count. We have seen this over and over thru several of these tragedies. leroy...2 points

When you're in high demand in low saturation you can pick and choose. Look at the price on a high end full custom 1911. The more exclusive you make yourself the more you can charge, providing there is reputation and demand. I'm thinking of Minton T-Bird resto shop. I can understand not working on vintage/historic pistols like OLD Colt's SAA. I can understand not working on some of the copies as there used to be some truly substandard reproductions. From What I've seen of Bowen, he really likes S&W and Ruger DAs. I can't say anything about any other custom smith. Not throwing shade at Cimmaron for sure. They make great replicas.2 points

SACS 1911 is in beautiful shape. Not even broken in yet. If you know semi custom 1911s Springfield’s custom shop pistols were some of the best. Looking for a full size semi custom 1911 in 9mm. It will come with everything pictured. Mainly interested in Wilson, NHC, ACW. Thanks again all.1 point

Best recommendation I can give is to get about 3-5 estimates from different companies. I got 5+ estimates for a job in the past and the price differences are crazy. Haven't seen so much price variation when getting estimates from different trades1 point

If you find a suitable ‘smith, be sure and let us know. I have an old Bisley that could use a tightening up.1 point

I've not seen his work in person But I did see some of his stuff in magazine back in the day. My HS friend spoke highly of him as a person so I believe it. I've always been in awe of those who take one and rebarrel, change from 6 to five shot or any of the things he does. I would LOVE to do what he does but I'm way past the point of getting a return on the investment. In the end, if I'm in the market for a top end revolver, I know where to go hands down.1 point

One of our members posted what his investment was for his Cali shop. Cost would dissuade most. It's a long learning curve also. Mr Bowen is to my understanding a true smith who could build a firearm from scratch.1 point

Bowen is indeed a true master. But I'm betting he's backed up at least a year, maybe two. All you need is a simple trigger job. The SA Army isn't that complicated. Watch a couple of YouTube videos and you can do it yourself.1 point

RE: " Selectivity "... We spent quite a few hours n a few bucks with Hamilton. Toward the end of the " Real " Colt era ( think 80s thru early 2000s ), he said it was almost impossible to get Colt SAA parts. As I remember, the colt clone parts thing was a problem as well, along with the hit or miss quality of replacement parts. I think that many times, the gunsmiths will specialize in things they can readily find parts for and things they are passionate about. That allows them to deliver repairs and mods to us gun folk in a reasonably timely manner. No one wants to wait 6 months to possibly years for their special repair or project to be completed. Hamilton likes slicking up and modifying all flavors of Rugers and Smiths. More Rugers than anything else, just as papa has said. He did some absolutely beautiful work on two third generation Colts for us, along with a couple of Ruger single actions. He is, in fact, an artist as well as a great gunsmith; and a lovely, professional, kind, and gentlemanly man as well. He is, indeed, a credit to the artisan gunsmith craft as well as being a thoroughly lovely man. I know of no better craftsman, artist, or gentleman in the guncraft business. I have the highest regard for him in every sense of the word. leroy...1 point

I used to have a rifle that had a white oaks armament barrel. It was a tack driver, well as good of a shot as I could do. The barrels came highly recommended from some dudes I knew in the AMU when I was at Fort Benning.1 point

$600 Only shot 20 times. Super fun gun, accurate with the iron sights, but would be a knock out with a red dot. Comes with 100 rounds of Hornady Black .450 Bushmaster ammo.1 point

Asking teachers what their thoughts on anything 2A related is like 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. They are going to take a dump on our 2A rights 10 times out of 10. The ones who don't wanna touch guns would NEVER be forced to, but they want to prevent the ones willing from saving lives. If a teacher is smart enough to educate our kids, he/she is smart enough to be trained to protect our kids. SROs are not any smarter than a teacher and the amount of actual firearm and situational training would likely be about even. If I need an opinion about astronomy, NDT would do. On religion, school shootings, and politics, he has proven himself to be a moron.1 point

There have been enough advancements in the past few years that a person who hasn't revisited their carry-options in 10-years or more really ought to look at what is available today. Having 17-rounds of 9mm available in an optics-ready, micro-compact format like the Sig P365 Macro wasn't possible a decade ago. If you wanted 17-rounds and a red dot sight back then, you were toting a full-size pistol.1 point

Yeah... uploading from a phone can result in trying to send a MASSIVE file to the server. Since yesterday I made some more changes to our software config that will allow most photos to be uploaded, but the forum software is still going to shrink them before attaching them to posts. This whole thing is a never-ending game of Chase The Rabbit since every new iteration of phones seems to bring even higher resolution photos with larger file sizes.1 point

The call logs show the Gray family contacting the school and having a 10 minute phone call with the school counselor and text message about a half hour before the shooting.
