  1. I live very near Memphis and can say without a doubt that it is totally run by Democrats- They still like other cities haven't figured out that putting and keeping violent criminals in jail will help- Instead like most Democrats they just always blame the gun- What a complete set of tools these idiots are-

  2. Six to eight weeks? And that passes for customer service? Are they that swamped with returns of defective guns? Making a note to myself re future gun purchases.... Hope things work out for you, Whisper

  7. I doubt the Memphis city council ever thought that their control push would get past the state, but now they've signaled their virtue and can use it as a campaign tool.

  8. needs a new home: Smith and Wesson Model 625-2, .45 ACP and Auto Rim, 5-inch barrel, excellent condition. These don't come up for sale often in this condition because many of them from this era have been beaten to death in bowling pin or falling plate matches. No lock, no MIM, just all-round revolver goodness. $1100

  17. That might makes sense if we were talking about intelligent, savvy politicians. Memphis is run by imbeciles.

  18. I think Memphis understands that and made a PR stunt. Sexton and McNally, probably think they have options.

  21. I've come pretty close a time or 3 to doing a Fly-N-Ride to buy a motorcycle. I've lucked out and found something local every time. Still wouldn't hesitate to do it. Glad your sale worked out.

  26. Well, surprise, surprise. While Sexton and McNally’s petty, vindictive bullying were a bit over the top, the whole thing is a losing proposition for the state. Memphis can no more enact gun regulations than the state can withhold their share of sales tax revenues.

  29. Brother Leroy, As I love riding a motorcycle, and find myself with spare time now, if you have a hammer and center punch, I’d be happy to come to you and give her a swing. If not, I can provide the hammer and punch as well. ETA…looks like you found a superior solution.

  31. My project is poured and top finished. They will come back and take the forms off soon. It is 24" above ground level on the far end from the driveway. Looks like a deck but poured out of concrete. I almost built a deck however I am glad we decided on concrete. No cleaning and staining or upkeep. The patio is 15'X60' and is large chunk of concrete. Thinking about sloping around the edges, however I just may keep it like it is. Kinda like the raised deck look. I will purchase one concert step to exit if I keep it like it is now.

  33. Welcome! Yes, the rifle and cartridge you are looking at will be fine for elk & bison. The 7 PRC is essentially the same "power" as the good old 7mm Rem Mag, but the PRC barrel twist is faster, allowing heavier (more ballistically aerodynamic) bullets to be used. Elk are tough. They don't usually "bang, flop" so just keep shooting until it goes down, or no longer presents a shot. Better to 'overkill' vs losing an animal that is potentially wounded. Some dislike this philosophy due to potential meat loss. Elk are huge. There will still be plenty of meat to eat. Imagine how much meat you've lost if the animal walks off and dies miles away, never to be recovered. As for bison, they have huge hearts & huge lungs but they are not bullet proof. Same guns suitable for elk and moose, like the 7 PRC, will take out a bison. Same rules as elk apply (don't just shoot once and figure its all over; keep firing for effect.) I shot a bison with a .308 Win (150gr Nosler Partition bullet) and another with a .338 Win Mag (250gr Hornady Interlock bullet.) Neither bison died faster or more dramatically than the other. Don't be worried about needing more gun. Just use good, deep penetrating bullets (i.e., Nosler Partition, Nosler Accubond, Barnes TTSX, Swift A-Frame, Hornady Interbond, and other bonded or controlled expansion bullets.)

  36. X2 on making lanolin/alcohol mix for bulk necked case reloading. It’s basically the same as the Dillon lube.
    1 point
  37. really depends upon what you are using it for. If you are doing precision reloading, case forming, etc, then it's hard to beat imperial sizing wax. If you are doing mass quantities, I prefer a spray. One shot is a sure fire way to getting stuck cases IMHO. I have moved to lanolin/alcohol mix. You can buy pure lanolin oil on amazon, and 95% alcohol. Mix up 1:10 (lanolin:alcohol) and put in a spray bottle and you are ready to go. Get a cheap plastic tub from dollar store, spray lube over cases, shake around, let alcohol evaporate, and smooth as silk resizing/loading.

  38. Just picked up this little guy last week to replace my G29 as the new EDC. I absolutely love how 2011s fit in my hand. First time I felt the base model RIA DS 10mm, it was a match made in heaven. 1911s are cool and all but they always felt odd in my paw which is why I don't own any. Maybe it's dainty manlet sized hands, who knows. My only real complaint is the slide release is an awkwardly long reach for me. Both on that Bul Ultralight but also my Cosaint Arms COS21 10mm.

  40. My default mags are MecGar. I have some McCormick Shooting Stars as well, and they have been reliable. I've got a couple of Wilson mags, but don't see that they work any better than the MecGar. They are prettier, though!
