  6. I have noticed that "Hate Speech" is in the ear of the beholder.....1st Amendment be damned....if you are not in the group of power your speech is hate. Anti abortion, The Gospel, Country music, all examples of what is no longer correct....political or not.

  8. Your favorite NFL jersey worn in an opposing team's hometown will invite smart-assed remarks from people who want to feel big about themselves. People can be assholes, as you've noticed. Anyway, I what I really wanted to add to this conversation is the basic necessity of being competent in verbal judo. We're all going to invite attention to ourselves sooner or later - even if it's because of something we can't change about ourselves. When that happens, the best initial course of action is de-escalation if at all possible. It would suck to get injured or murdered by a small-minded idiot because you took the bait and got into a battle of words with them.

  9. Those days are long gone. The sooner everyone learns how to hold their tongue the better. 1st Amendment allows basically unfettered verbal agitation and smart-assedness just like the 2nd supposedly allows free access to all guns. Regardless, no one has any business or right telling a complete stranger what is right or wrong based on their own personal beliefs

  10. I think wearing a controversial clothing item, while your right to do, is akin to a girl with her ass hanging out of her shorts and complaining of men looking and making disparaging remarks. You are free to do it, but not free from the consequences it brings forth.

  11. Purchased new in 2023. Been in soft case in safe ever since. Comes with everything from factory to include 2 mags, box, soft case, paperwork, etc. Looking to buy a Ruger No 1 which is why I’m selling. That would likely be the only trade considered. Ammo available if needed.

  12. I have a HK VP9 OR 9mm w/ HOLOSUN SCS Green Dot Sight. This came as a package deal from HK, it's like NIB. Includes all the paperwork for the SCS Holosun, and HK VP9 Manual, Orginal Box, all the Back Straps, Grip Inserts, two 17rnd Mags w/ Loader. I got this as a partial trade deal I made, it appears unfired or very little. The HOLOSUN SCS does not require batteries it runs on solar power, so no worrying about changing batteries. It's in great overall condition. $700 CASH FTF. I live in the Whitehouse area and can meet locally around Goodletsville, Hendersonville, Gallatin and Nashville area for FTF deal, and I can drive to a half way point to meet and complete the transaction. Thanks for looking, let's give this a new owner.

  13. I have this t-shirt that has an Israeli flag on it and says, "Proud to support Israel." My church has had a long relationship with a synagogue in town. I was wearing this shirt yesterday when my wife and I went to the grocery store. I had 4 people in the store walk up to me and thank me for wearing the shirt. One lady and I talked for a while about what this country has become. Then this man walks by pushing a cart and says, "You know you are supporting baby killers, don't you?" The snarky look on his face, the fact that this was happening in a Piggly Wiggly, one of the last bastions of rural American culture, I snapped back, "Hammas are the baby killers, hiding behind women and children like cowards." I guess he wasn't expecting this, not being from the South and all. He went on a mad tirade about the history of the middle east and how much he hated the Jews. Then he walked up into my face, with is chest all bowed out. He didn't seem to notice when I dropped my right foot back a little. He probably didn't know I was thinking about the best way to take him down if he touched me. Then he finished by saying "You shouldn't be wearing that shirt!" My response was calm and subdued, "I will wear whatever shirt I want to and you can kiss my LARGEMOUTH BASS!" He decided to walk away suddenly, and I turned around and saw the security guard walking down the aisle. I said, "There is something wrong with that guy, I think he's on drugs, you might want to go talk to him." Which he did. Thus ended the confrontation. Some may say that I was asking for trouble, wearing a shirt like that. Maybe I should have turned the other cheek. I didn't want to hurt the guy, but I will make my stand to live and die a free man, as long as my wife approves.

  14. Yassin’s business hasn’t been hurt by this. At least not at the downtown location. Had lunch from there the other day and will do so again. While I don’t agree with his opinion, I still respect his right to have it and to disagree with me. I’ve never known him to be the belligerent sort. I be I believe the protest was peaceful and nonviolent. He just refused to leave when told to do so. I will also add that he has done a lot of good in our little city in various ways.

  15. And how has that worked out over the past 233 years? The point is. The vast majority of people think that the 1st gives them the right to run their mouths and confront people without repercussion . I submit it does not. If people would mind their own business then we would not be discussing some asshole at the Piggly Wiggly. On another note, I had no idea that Piggly Wiggly is still in existence. It was the first self service grocery ever and started in Memphis.

  18. While I don't agree with Yassin's new-found "activism" or his stances on may things, I think maybe the University's response (including UTPD) might have been just a little much. Buy all accounts he's a helluva nice guy. He now has three locations of his "Yassin's Falafel House", still well liked and the food is excellent. I don't think his reputation has been damaged at all. https://www.knoxnews.com/story/news/crime/2024/05/16/knoxville-restaurant-owner-yassin-terou-injured-during-protest-arrest/73712670007/

  19. How can I call myself an American, if I am afraid to utilize the rights that my forefathers fought and died for. If we cower from bullies, we will soon be ruled by bullies. A Piggly Wiggly on Thursday afternoon is not an ATM, late at night, in a bad neighborhood. Chuck, I will fight for your right to support whatever you want. I thank you for your response and for talking to me straight, an admirable quality.

  20. As someone who holds views on this subject much more in line with the person you encountered*, let me first say that his behavior was indefensible. I’m just not the type to engage with strangers over things like that because there’s almost nothing to ever be gained from it and the risks of things going badly, quickly are way too high. But if I were to engage with someone over a hot button topic, a calm demeanor and open attitude go a long way to encouraging understanding rather than enmity. The flip side of that is that if one wears clothing or bumper stickers or other metaphorical flags on controversial issues, you must be prepared to encounter those that are less than rational on highly emotionally charged subjects. You’re going to draw them to you like a moth to a flame. I view it much like going to the ATM in a dark parking lot in a bad part of town or anywhere else where the odds of needing a gun go exponentially upwards. Sure, I should be able to do it, but is it smart? No. Not really. Would I hold a certain level of responsibility for intentionally putting myself in a bad situation? Yeah. I absolutely would. It’s a simple risk mitigation equation. Is this inherently risky behavior I’m about to engage in, is it worth it if it goes really badly? *edited to clarify, my issues are with the secular nation state of Israel, not Jewish people in general. I realize that may not have been originally clear

I don't think his reputation has been damaged at all "... I think the jury is out on this. My son is a " Falafel House " regular customer n cheerleader. He ain't now, since this incident... Yassin may survive this, but there ain't a business nor publicity model that I know of where this is anything other than a catastrophe. The point is; he could have simply avoided this by not being present. The truth is that while Yassin is a valued community member; he is a minority, whether anybody likes or approves or not. That position has its own share of unique problems. We can quibble about fairness, equality, and all the high minded, eloquent principles that argue against stereotypes and promote the " brotherhood of man "; but people do, in fact, make judgements and have preferences. Yassin may well survive, but I'ma thinkin that lotsa " good will capital" has been totally been wasted here if this becomes widely known. In sum, there is no way this is good for him in any demographic other than the " Anti Israel IDF Baby killers " one. I'ma guessin that demographic is infinitesimal in these parts, even counting the jhadist, loonies, n misfits from UTK and surrounding edifices of " Higher Learning ", and the occasional Anti Israel native sons and imports... leroy...

  33. If you are considering trying your hand at competitive 22 LR shooting, here is a great way to get started. This Heavy Barreled action is installed in a compound bedded Bergara HMR stock to assure a snug fit between the action and stock providing consistent contact. It has fewer than 700 rounds passed through it. I had hoped to do some competitive shooting, but I am in my seventies and the weight of the rifle is just too much for the arthritis in my hands. This will certainly make a great rifle for anyone wanting to up there shooting game. The Barreled action came from A&J Sporting in Oklahoma. To my knowledge they are the only importers for this configuration. The HMR stock has been modified so the barrel will free float. It includes a Trigger Tech Primary Straight Trigger. It’s topped off with a Leopold 20 MOA Picatinny scope rail. I will only sell to a TN resident 18 years or older with a valid Tennessee driver’s license. I will also require completion of the ATF Private Transfer Form which is basically a signed bill of sale to protect both parties. Barreled Action only Description: Bergara 20" stainless MTU type contour barrel, 16 twist, threaded, factory installed on the B-14R action installed with a Trigger Tech Primary Straight Trigger, (factory adjustable trigger included) and 2 factory magazines. This barreled action is a Remington 700 short action foot print allowing for a wide selection of aftermarket chassis, triggers, etc. Barreled Action only Specifications: Weight: 7.5 Pounds (3.4 Kg) Barrel Length: 20" (51 cm) MTU type contour barrel Barrel Material: 410 Stainless Steel Twist: 1:16" Barrel Thread: 1/2X28 Muzzle Diameter: .93" (23.6 mm) AICS Type magazine 10 round (2 included)

  35. I have worn t shirts that support Israel in public and more folks ask if I'm Jewish. I say no but my Savior is and I'm supposed to be like Him. The times are getting darker and our light we shine draws them from the darkness. We were told persecution would come to us. It is something not taught in the "churches" today. Be ready brothers, the storm is coming!
