I have a need for the Taurus 1911 duo-tone. I think the blackened against stainless is terrific looking though some I have seen on GB look poorly finished. Nice Colt though, can't say you were wrong. I had a stainless AMT Government Model. I miss it. Can't go wrong with a good Colt though. The Rock Island is like a base model Harley, it will turn into a money pit. But that's what I wanted. We will see how it shoots before throwing money at it though.2 points

Deerslayer, you hit the nail on the head. My use for handguns is only for self-defense. It is my worry that if I spend money for a good dot sight it really will be useless for me with considering mission. That is why I posted this thread.1 point

I just received the Kore Essentials nylon gun belt I ordered last week. So far..so good. It seems to be a solid belt1 point

I've been planning to build a nice deer blind with plenty of room for my son and I but with the cost of materials being so high, I haven't made it a priority. Our church recently replaced it's steeple due to structural issues and I was able to grab the fiberglass base from it. It should make an excellent blind and should really only need some paint, a few hinges and latches, and a piece of plexiglass for the windows. I will have to put something on top to seal the hole as well but that's not a big deal. It's 6*6 so it should be plenty of room for us.1 point

I've always heard that but I'm assuming they'd still see some sort of major contrast difference wouldn't they? Stark white against darker woods colors? I'll of course be brushing it in and it will be inside of a woods line.1 point

I have a lot of trigger time with dots over the past few years with four different platforms (Glock/2011/Walther/CZ75). I have found that they offer two advantages: they are better/faster/easier at distance (20+yards) and they can be handy in some low-light situations. At typical handgun fighting distances, they offer no advantage and I think I am quicker with irons inside 10 yards, but I don't subscribe to the you-must-focus-on-the-front-sight train of thought.1 point

I like sticky holsters. I have one for several of my guns. I don’t pocket carry much anymore since I retired, but when I do pocket carry my Ruger LCP Max, it’s in the sticky holster. They make one specific to most guns and unlike several other pocket holsters I’ve used over the years, the holster stays in your pocket when you need it to. I keep a gun in different rooms of my house and also use pocket holsters for those guns too, to help protect them.1 point

That’s awesome. All the work y’all put into this really shows. Those families must really feel the support.1 point

New member here and saw this thread but no mention of Mean Gene belts. I have two and have nothing but good things to say about them. No affiliation, just like the belts. https://www.meangeneleather.com/product-category/belts/1 point

I am also a pretty big fan of the Kore and have been using mine for two years now. I couple buddies made some jokes about the clicking noise while tightening the belt but the ability for small increment changes in size is great.1 point

I have a Kore , I got at my LGS. It’s my favorite belt so far. I like the minor , quick and easy adjustments you can make with it. I have a Hanks belt , but it seems like it’s softened up over time. Not much better if any than a belt I had made that a Omish man made for me for about $20 while I stood there and watched him make it.1 point

I agree. Kore Essentials is my favorite everyday carry belt. Love the incremental adjustment.1 point
