We currently have a Henry Golden Boy lever action 22 and a CZ 75 SP-01. I have a Shield Plus PC and Shadow 2 inbound, and an AR15 is next up. Any range advice would be very welcome, including skeet or trap ranges. Cheers!

  16. Another fan of .32 S&W long. I’m another old guy with arthritis and can still handle moderate recoil but why beat up my wrists and do more damage. I recently traded a beautiful nickel Smith M37 for an unfired 1953 Colt Cobra in .32. I had never owned one and never fired one but all it took was the first time. I’m crazy about this gun. It hardly weighs anything and .32 is extremely mild. I’m not sure there’s any more recoil than my Smith 317 22. I’m hesitant to let my wife shoot it because she’ll say it hers and I’ll be out my .32. I’m thing I’ll let her try it and if she wants to carry a .32 I’ll pickup another Cobra or Detective Special in .32 or a 2” Smith 30 or 31.

  17. If the Gov. is planning on buying votes for the Next election I don't think $20.00 bucks is going to get it done. Our troops are to smart for that. The Democrats made a mistake when the rigged to 2020 election to put Biden in the Oval Office at his age and now they have to try and get Harris in so I wonder if they are going to try and rig the 2024 election also????.....JMHO!

  21. With my eyes I'm a big fan of optics for any kind of distance. I use a lupold scope on my S&W .357 for white tail, a green dot on my Glock 40 for hogs. But for EDC if I'm far enough away to need optics, I'm planning on running!

  22. Moped yes, I have a Ruger Max 9. I pocket carry the pistol. If I affix a Red Dot to it is questionable if I can still pocket carry it. My thought is if I need to go to IWB carry I would choose one of my MP 9 MM 2.0's. They have slightly longer Brl and hold 15+1 rounds. From what everyone is saying the dots that come with most pistols are substandard or cheepies. I really like the MP's but are not able to pocket carry because of size. Even purchased the single stack MP 9 MM EZ and it is also too large for pocket carry, however very easy to rack the slide. This will be my arthritis choice if/when it gets much worse.

  23. I haven't milled a gun yet, but one less failure point is good. I always use thread locker on clean components and can read torque specs as well as anybody, but I have had several issues on different guns with dots or plates not staying put. A visible iron sight picture in the very bottom of the dot window is ok, but putting it higher where it is nearly on the same plane as the dot sight picture is idiotic. I don't get why people do this - it's a huge distraction. I also remove the fiber optic pipe on the front sight (if it's FO). it's just another distraction. Definitely. I see a lot of new or casual shooters getting advice that a dot will solve all their problems. Dots are handy, but require some regular dry fire or live fire to maintain a needed index that isn't as critical with iron sights. This gets exacerbated when the user carries a J-frame on Tuesday, a Glock on Thursday, and a 1911 on Saturday. It really gets ugly when the casual shooter tries to shoot quickly with one hand. Dots are not always as beneficial as advertised. Somebody who doesn't want to practice occasionally may be better off with irons if some fast combat accuracy is suddenly necessary.

  29. All I know is that there is really not a general standard for AR-10’s as there is for 15’s. If you’re wanting to build one compatibility of components is something to consider.

  31. Hello All! I have the following for sale..... Stealth Cam Deceptor x6 Stealth Cam Reactor x4 Stealth Cam Fusion X-Pro X1 I purchased all of these earlier this year and do not have a use for them. They are all dual network for both AT&T and Verizon. These are all brand new in the box and retain the intact factory sealing stickers. These have just been sitting and I don't see me using them in the near future. Asking $65 each (or $600 for all 10). Will accept reasonable offers for multiples. Thank you. Chris

  32. Not sure if you are looking for a micro/compact or full size range gun. Will share this from my experience. Almost every pre -installed red dot I have seen if lower in quality than Holosun , SIG, Vortex or other aftermarket red dots I have owned. Is that important to you? Depends on what the firearm is to be used for. If just casual range use, then might consider a factory dot. Otherwise I would pick the red dot first, then the gun. btw, love the Sig P365 and Hellcat for carry. Would never be happy with their supplied red dots though. Hey peeps, it's just my opinion. User experience and susceptibility to advertising claimsmay alter one's perception.

  35. I too am concerned my wife wouldnt be able to clear a jam. So she carries a Smith 317 8 shot 22 revolver. I know, I know folks will say its only a 22. Its almost all aluminum and weighs nothing. 3" barrel, and I put some smooth wood grips on it so it doesnt snag. But she feels comfortable carrying it. And who am I to argue with her-lol

  36. Shopping at the same stores as long as I have, I know where each item is I want. I get in and out fast. I was in the hospital 2 years ago for a week in ICU, congestive heart failure. Doctor said to get more walking in. The neighborhood isn't that safe since people let their dogs run loose. Heat during the summer and cold during the winter. I went to the stores to walk. 2 trips through super walmart without buying a thing, 3 to 4 trips through Kroger with a shopping cart full when finished. Some stores have drive thoughts, I walk in. Sam's Club is large with slow moving customers. I couldn't keep my pace going. Losing as much weight as I have in less than 6 months has slowed me down. My neighbor has volunteered her sons to mow my yard to keep code enforcement off me. She has volunteered to take me where needed if my kids are busy. She is just a little shorter than I and less than half of my weight, afraid I'd hurt her when shopping. I haven't received any bills yet. See what insurance paid and pay them $100 per month until paid, face to face. I want the paper trail. I called Medline about the wheelchair parts needed without buying them. Nope, carry it to a bike shop so they can order, pay for right parts. Nope, I'll run it in an ad as spare parts, get some of my $35 back. After one shopping trip I took a nap. Opened the front door for a walk to the mailbox. There's a used Drive wheelchair with leg supports at the porch. Where it came from was answered hours later. It was at someone's trash pile and my oldest brought here. I cleaned it up, made replaces, parts from the Medline. Lubed the wheels with Rem oil. Man, that thing flies. One of the state's outdoor range is about 50 miles south of me at Sardis, MS. I want to go asap and see about setting up a meet and greet for when it gets cooler. Maybe pick up some needed brass too. It's open noon till dark mostly on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. $20 per day to shoot. Make the meet for TN, MS, AR members and anyone else that wants to join us. Set up canopies for lounging with cold cuts, burgers and dogs. If you want 9mm brass here's your chance to get more than needed. Their buckets are full and no place that recycles wants it.

  38. I bought my first one in the early 2000s and it's been a downhill slide into addiction ever since. My single stacks really haven't seen the range very much since then. I've built several and still have a few frames and slide sets I need to do something with.

  41. Well, what money I have is "stupid" money for sure, ha, ha. But as I mentioned in my original post, I already have a Winchester 52 and a 75 which is almost on the same par, but those rifles are very heavy and not what I need for long walks and lots of off hand shooting. I did find something today in a pawn shop. It is a classic from Remington. The model 512P Sportsman. Bolt action and tube fed. This one was made in 1946 and it fits all of the needs that I have. While I have run some rounds through it, I have not sighted it in yet so I will need to get some time to do that and dial it in.

  42. It’s hard to beat a classic 10/22 in a hardwood stock for a woods gun. I just bought one and have a Leupold 4x28 coming in today to put on it. If you keep the scope light or run irons, it’s plenty light to haul around on a sling or in hand. Synthetic would be even lighter but loses that nostalgia for me.
