  1. The secret service director did something amazing yesterday...she united the two party leaders on the most partisan, made for TV sparing committee in Congress with calls for her resignation. You can probably count on one hand the number of times these two had co-signed a letter as Chairman and Ranking Member for something related to actual government oversight and accountability, and this being an election year no-less. https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/2024-07-22.Comer-Raskin-to-Director-Cheatle-re.-Cheatle-Resignation-Letter.pdf Seriously, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability is functionally nothing more than a political debate show if Fox News and MSNBC had to co-produce one. Look at the members on each side and tell me I'm wrong. For them to actually come together and issue a statement like this is wild, but well needed given all that happened.

  2. Congress gets to shoot their mouths off for the TV cameras, Cheatle will be sacrificed as the scape goat and then the whole incident will quietly fade out of the news cycle. Meanwhile, the truth and any actual facts will be buried away while internet conspiracy theorist argue how many shooters, where the shots came from, etc and so on for the next 50 years. And in the end, nothing will change. Basically, just another standard government cover up.

  8. I think there was a much more recent version of this thread, but since @Omega pulled it from the archives I figured I would respond. Pretty easy Snaveba is A.B. Evans (my initials and last name) backwards. This goes back to trying to create an email address on AOL almost 30 years ago. Everything I tried was taken. AOL kept offering AEvans (and some number) so I just did abevans backwards.

  9. My wife loves the Glock 44 as well. She also has a Walther in 22lr. She practices a lot and can dump every round in very tight groups. Too me, staying proficient is much more important than the caliber.

  14. Its all show. Trying to convince voters that they're trying to do something about crime. They know very well it'll never fly. But they get that good old victim outrage when it gets publicly shot down. IIRC they tried something along these same lines a couple of years ago and the State Attorney General set 'em straight real quick. I hope he repeats that.

  16. I am selling my Remington 700 chambered in .300 Weatherby Magnum. It is the detachable magazine version. I don't know much about the rifle; I got it used, and I've only fired about 20 rounds through it due to the cost of ammo. Only issue with the rifle is some slight finish erosion underneath the scope base. Asking $800, but open to trades for a Winchester Model 70 (controlled round feed models only), or Winchester lever action rifles. Located in Dayton, TN, and would prefer to meet here.

  18. Regardless of constitution, the state claimed all oversight of guns laws several years ago, as you are aware. They know this but are too inept to do anything else. My ideas, as much as I hate to say it, are without a doubt unconstitutional. A big chunk of my birthplace needs to be walled off and forsaken.

  19. From what I KNOW, the main difference was the trigger. Basically if you like shooting yours, then you have a gen2. The gen 1 had close to a 11 lbs trigger pull. I really love these rifles. Obviously Sig does too!! They just want 4k for theirs! I bought it so my wife and girls wasn’t so intimidated when shooting an AR. I really like that wood!! Maybe at 6.5 Grendel and use it as a real deal hunting rifle that only weighs 6 lbs!

I have 1 of these on a 6 ARC, and the lower power version on a .223 SPR. https://www.eurooptic.com/Ares-Scopes.aspx Cheaper place to buy it. https://athlonoptics.com/product/heras-spr-6-24x56-aplr7-sfp-ir-moa/ 2nd Focal Plane I don't have heavy recoiling rifles so I can't really speak to that part. I'm testing a new Arken Optic scope now on a .22LR. So far, it ain't looking promising.

  24. I’m another fan of the .32 revolver! There are several out there to chose from. Taurus as really up their game with QC, so you might look at a 327. As noted early it will chamber .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R Mag and .327 Fed Mag. Charter Arms makes the Undercoverette in .32 H&R Mag. Ruger makes the LCR and the SP101 in .327 Fed Mag. S&W makes the 432 in .327 Fed Mag. All these are 6 shot revolvers. Most are under 20oz. Most have a 2” barrel. Prices start in the high 300s and gun up from there. These are current production guns, but there are a bunch of older models not made anymore in .32 S&W Long too. I recently purchased an older S&W Pre Model 30 I-Frame for $440 out the door at my local LGS. It’s a sweet heart to shot with wadcutters. A couple of years back I passed on a Rossi, because I was being cheap (and stupid), that I could have had for $300. It had a perfect Nickel finish. https://www.taurususa.com/revolvers/small-frame-revolvers/taurus-327/taurus-r-327-matte-black-327-fed-mag-2-in https://charterfirearms.com/collections/undercoverette https://ruger.com/products/lcr/specSheets/5452.html https://ruger.com/products/sp101/specSheets/5784.html https://www.smith-wesson.com/product/model-432-ultimate-carry-revolver-32hr-mag-black-with-no-lock

  25. Lots of wisdom in this thread. Where you hit is way more important than what you hit with. Choose the gun you will carry. I'm a big fan of the Keltec P32 but I'm learning to love the micro 9 Practice. Lots.

  29. I too am concerned my wife wouldnt be able to clear a jam. So she carries a Smith 317 8 shot 22 revolver. I know, I know folks will say its only a 22. Its almost all aluminum and weighs nothing. 3" barrel, and I put some smooth wood grips on it so it doesnt snag. But she feels comfortable carrying it. And who am I to argue with her-lol

  30. This. My wife had the same concerns. The rental .38 snubby we tried was the single worst pistol I've ever shot. She said my .45 compact was easier to shoot, and settled on a Shield 9.

  31. Technically, the shooting happened in Memphis. The guy ended up in Bartlett looking for help. But I'm also fairly familiar with the area where he was shot. A bit run down, but not dangerous that I know of. I'm surprised. I'm guessing the victim is OK and all is well. If he were dead it would be all over the news.

  32. My truck was full of building materials that needed to go to my daughter's house before that first attack. The truck has sat long enough that the battery is dead. I got my granddaughter to give it a boost. She has no clue so I did the work, not bad just warm. She drove, she's short, hard to see the road. The oldest son met us there, some material was stacked in the carport to be used soon and the rest in the storage building. Took him about 20 minutes while I watched. Dang, wish I could help. We swapped to the car at home and headed to Kroger. The 4 that helped me that day were working and I had a chat with each. 2 of 6 employees that I like to chat with were there too. So the 3 bag $90 trip was long. Instead of walking with a cart I got a scooter. I watched a zoom auction that's in Senatobia, MS last night. Dang, everything sold close, at or over retail, I bought nothing. Example: Grainger brand vaseline, small jar 2/$3, walmart brand $1. I'll watch his dealer's sale tomorrow, if I don't buy anything I'm done with them. I didn't take a nap so I started nodding near the end. Went to bed at 9:10 pm, up at 2 am hungry. We keep boiled eggs in the fridge, never know when we'll need 1 or a few. I had 2 and a small drink of 7-up. Back to bed at 2:45 am. I woke at 8:20 am. Best night's sleep since I returned home. I found out today my beekeeper, 81 year years old is retiring/ closing business in 30 days. I buy 5 to 6 gallons per year from him, no sugar used by me. Honey only since 2012. He just went up to $50 per gallon when I bought my last, about half gallon left. Need to go soon and get a bulk order. Looking at facebook and marketplace honey is double if not more most places I see it, plus the extra miles to get it. I found a cold tonic years ago and followed the recipe, too much, If I get a cold now a fresh batch is made at half recipe and some gets thrown out. 2 to 4 doses the first day and the cold is gone. No need for a doctor's visit or over the counter drugs.

  36. They work, but why do you want one? What are you trying to accomplish that can’t be done with a normal barrel? I find them to be highly unnecessary. With pistol rounds you really aren't getting much in the way of benefits. that said, the counter argument “it’ll mess up your night vision if you shoot it at night” is overblown. Can suck while shooting from compression though.

  39. I've been there once. Walked in and was greeted. Walked around and browsed. I was asked if I could be helped, I politely said no thanks. While I was squatting down checking on items I might buy, I was told I couldn't carry my gun in the store without it being in a holster. I carry my g26 at 6 oclock in a 20yr old hybrid comptac iwb as I have for as long as I've owned that holster. When I lifted my shirt to show it was in a holster, the guy got offended that I would carry a gun like the "idiots" do on TV. I told him his attitude and statement lost a customer for life and asked where is the store manager. He said he was the "floor" manager. I just walked out. There is a gun store/range in Maryville called Gunnys...got treated like crap there too years ago and never went back. It's changed owners since then but I'll never go back to any place that doesn't respect their customers.
