I tried finding the metadata for the publicly available image but it was stripped before publishing. Do not be alarmed, this is very common for photographers to do when exporting from Lightroom/Photoshop. I wouldn't assume that the lack of detailed exposure settings means anything is at food. So, I'll assume that depending on aperture and ISO the shutter speed (the only thing that matters when it comes to blur) was probably 1/250 to 1/1000. So that means the shutter was open for somewhere between 1/250th of a second all the way down to 1/1000th of a second. What a 5.56mm velocity? It depends. Lets say 3000fps, that's feet per second. However, we don't have the shutter open for a full second, we have a mere fraction of that. 1/250 = .004 1/1000 =.001 Proportionally, (assuming that the change of the speed of the bullet is constant and does not slow within the first 1/1000th of a second), we have. 1/3000 = .004/x 12' bullet travel at 1/250 shutter speed 1/3000 =.001/x 3' bullet travel at 1/1000 shutter speed If the shutter speed was half of 1/1000 (it would be 1/2000) you'd have roughly 1.5' of travel. That's approximately what you have in that photo, give or take a foot. So depending on the details, it is entirely possible that the bullet was captured. Newer cameras, depending on mechanical vs. electronic shutter, can shoot a constant 30fps. I think some of the Sony cameras can do maybe twice that with an electronic shutter. It's a sunny day, you have lots of sunlight available. Assuming a decently fast aperture or a heightened ISO, I could completely see myself shooting 1/500 to 1/2000 shutter speed. It's the ex-POTUS, so a press photographer likely "sprays and preys" with his camera in hopes of getting a moneymaker. With my photography background I'm going to claim it is entirely possible he did capture a bullet on that photo. I can setup a GoFundMe if you all want me to test it

I will throw my vote in with the Ruger Mark series crowd. Hard to beat overall. Lots of options in that family. Known to be reliable...(as .22lr is...).

I've owned a six round, 4" barreled, blued GP-100 since the late 1980s and it has been shot a lot over the years. It was bought to replace a S&W 686 (no dash) that I really liked but the factory had screwed the barrel on crooked and it spit a ton of debris out of the barrel cylinder gap. The GP-100 has been very accurate, especially with 140gr XTPs. It is still 'in time' after all these years and high number of rounds put thru it. Trigger pull is smooth and reasonable weight after lots of use, but it was actually pretty good out-of-the-box. Since your goal is lots of shooting and reloads, go for the extra thickness/margin of safety of the six shooter. The 7 shot gun would be preferable if you were going to compete at matches w/it. Since that's not the intended use, the simpler/stronger six shot will serve better. Oh yea, I bought some PACHMAYR® grips all those years ago thinking they'd cushion the recoil more but found I preferred the feel of the factory rubber and wood grips better. Seems like Ruger got those right, at least for my size large-glove hands. I hope you get as much enjoyment from your GP-100 as I've gotten from mine. They are great guns for someone that actually likes to shoot a lot.

Honestly, I never cared for the GP-100. The thing has the ergonomics of a brick. Never felt comfortable in my hands. But that's just me. However, I'm a huge fan of the older "Six" Series DA revolvers and own 3 of them. You have nothing to fear. Rugers are built like a tank. I doubt if you could hurt one if you tried.

What little I could find says the victim was shot near Raliegh-LaGrange Rd and Sycamore View. Then drove north about a mile to the Kroger store in Bartlett seeking help. Bartlett PD found him there. No other info at this time.

Yeah, my P-07 came with those parts too. I personally prefer the decocker over the safety so I kept the parts in the box.

I’ve had 3 CZ pistols, P01, P-o7 and a P-09. I kept the P-o9 as I liked it best. As tercel89 said above, it’s a great gun. Full size, but very versatile

With all due respect for @GlockSpock doing the math and lending his photography experience, I would speculate what we saw was not a bullet but ear tissue and blood spatter. The calculations he did make that most likely. I wouldn't think an ear would slow a bullet much. On the other hand, DJT was moving and there is no blur so it may have been high shutter speed. I know you use higher speeds for action shots.

I’ve had a Ruger Mark IV for several years and it’s been great. Volquartsen makes an accurizing kit for it which trigger performance significantly better

Spent the weekend on a birthday getaway with my lovely bride while the kids crashed at Mamaw and Papaws house. We visited Pigeon Forge and stayed in the hotel we honey mooned at 16 years ago. On the way up Friday we stopped by Harveys Pistol and Pawn and for my birthday my wife got the Cosaint COS21 out of layaway that I had. I ran by the range at Buds and pumped 150 rounds through it to make sure it would function and then carried it all weekend. It's riding in a Kusiak American IWB that was built for a 1911, I wet the holster and slowly stretched and reformed it until it fit like a glove. Using a new belt that I picked up at Buds, a Nexbelt Supreme Appendix, and the Spyderco Ronin 2 was a $40 flea market find this morning. So this vacation has been one that added a lot of options to my edc. Enough of my blabbing, here's the new setup.

Sharp looking in more than one way-

I have seen pistol bullets (or their “trace”) fired from handguns numerous times and they appear to be several feet long. It’s usually a .45 shooting into sunlight early and standing near, but not directly behind the shooter. A 9 or.45 has three or four times the bullet going 1/3 the speed, so it shows up a lot better than a 5.56 would. No idea how long the image is actually there for the brain to process.

Well, frankly that math I posted is something I think is on par with 4th or 5th grade. It’s been a while, it’s 6th at the latest.

The photographer works for the New York Times and is very well respected. I don't agree with the NYT's political positions, but I do think they're above doctoring photos. The short time profit wouldn't be worth the loss in reputation. I've seen lead-trails in the air from bullets I've fired from handguns when I was pushing the bullets just a little too fast. This is different, of course, but just a bit of moisture in the air can result in something like what happens when vapor forms over the wings of an airplane.

That’s scary, but does not surprise me. If a shooter is in any way a martyr for the cause of gun control, shooting politicians instead of children may have a bigger effect on policy.

My old son carried me shopping yesterday for much needed supplies. He uses a gym and gets home about 4:30 am. I wanted to go earlier before the heat got high. Years ago I bought a Medline wheelchair for my wife. Auction house price $35. It is spiked black/silver in color. The leg/foot support is solid black. Not a match unless needed work is supplied. The less than 24 hours in ICU messed up my sleeping. I don't shop at one store, to many things needed from other stores too. Don't like to be stuck with a brand or product we don't like and trash it at a later date. Plus the price is better than others. We went to 6 stores. First stop was Sam's Club in Southaven. I did fine with my left leg over my right leg in midair with him giving me a push with the cart. At the next store I got an electric scooter. Had to run it slow for him. Back home and got supplies almost square away. I'm worn-out from my first day of outdoor adventures and took a nap. When I awaken I open the front door, planned to check the mailbox. Oh, there's an older wheelchair sitting at my front door with supports so I bring it in and forget about the mail. It will be washed with Peroxide before use. I don't know who left it to give them a thank you or hug. At 2:30 am my son sent me a text. "Found the wheelchair, left it at the porch." This morning the hospital sent me an email survey to fill out. I tried to leave good comments and it had space for replies. I requested a meeting in the room I had, with a few department heads and they will sit in their wheelchairs as I conduct the meeting. Yep, I'll be letting my male B shine.

Seems like I might have touched a nerve there. That ain’t him, but you wouldn’t know that. I do. I find his views based on his experiences of value to consider, or I wouldn’t have shared them. Just saw Dan Bongino saying much the same as I did about the counter-snipers and the overall failure of the SS. I had forgotten that the SS director was a female. DEI appears to have been in play here. Am I bad for thinking that?

Another thing I find odd or negligent is that a witness saw the shooter maneuvering on the roof and yelled to LEOs and pointed to the roof. In my experiences with these situations, there would have been a SS agent inside the dispatch center or command post that has radio contact with local LEOs. Upon a report like this being radioed in, the agent would have immediately notified the anti-sniper teams.

As soon as I saw the news, I told someone. TGO will be going Ape ####.. Wonder when political forums will get removed by David again? I'm reading some very thoughtless, evil, and incendiary posts here. The usual suspects have started the baiting. I would recommend that the moderators turn this thread off and let things cool down. This stopped being about news about page 3 as near as I can tell; and has been the usual " resident know it alls " against the exasperated and agitated from about page four on. You resident know it alls are doing nothing other than inflaming tensions and doing what they always do --- that is to put on a full show of know it all commenting and baiting, bantering words, and belittling those who don't see things their way. I for one, do not understand why this thread has not been shut down and these usual suspects warned. The truth is that a very high profile public figure has survived an assignation attempt and bystanders are dead and wounded. This also appears to be very stinky to most folks, and I'm one of em...
