I'm making this as a separate thread because I don't want it to get lost in the larger discussion. When you are looking up information on yesterday's events, please be careful and validate where you're getting your information. Just like what happened with COVID-19, there are groups capitalizing on the subject matter by standing up fake websites that contain malicious software packages. There were countless fake John Hopkins websites for instance. Clicking a random link is a surefire way to get malware/Trojans/spyware, etc. If it looks fishy, it probably is.13 points

I put this thread on timeout for the moment in the hopes that we all will be able to lower the temperature and tensions, a little bit with a breather. In the meantime I will leave this for consideration and reflection.9 points

On the other hand, controlling a pissed off 6'3 loudmouth New Yorker who has just been shot by an assassin may not be as straightforward as one may think.7 points

Crooks (the shooter) had not yet reached his 21st birthday. Fox states he was a registered Republican but that he'd donated to a leftist organization. I think the press gets a portion of the blame for this assassination attempt. For years they've been telling us that Trump is a fascist, that he's a threat to democracy, and that he must be stopped by any means. Some on the left have actually called for his assassination. We shouldn't forget that a rally attendee was killed by the shooter, and two others were seriously wounded. Hell of a thing!7 points

The Secret Service is just another Federal Agency. With the current administration, DEI and all the other various BS that's invaded our government, plus the obvious failures of other alphabet agencies, why would anybody expect them to actually be competent? As far as I can remember, when was the last time SS was actually called upon to protect somebody? The Reagan shooting? Quite frankly, I kinda doubt the Trump detail had their best available agents anyway.6 points

Seems like I might have touched a nerve there. That ain’t him, but you wouldn’t know that. I do. I find his views based on his experiences of value to consider, or I wouldn’t have shared them. Folks can do with them what they will. It’s ok that one may be put off by an assertion that so directly contradicts the accepted narratives surrounding the SS. I mean, 20-30 years ago who would’ve imagined the FBI having the reputation that they have developed?6 points
-
For those wondering about the ineptitude displayed by the Secret Service yesterday, I’m going to share the thoughts I’d a friend of mine who worked as a PMC in security capacities in and out of war zones. (He’s now a firefighter and a family man.) “Firefighters im riding with are like “How did this happen?” And im like “guys, this sounds ridiculous but I have almost a decade of protecting diplomats under my belt and we do *not* regard the secret service well.” These are the guys whose A-Team ####ed up an entire GD diplomatic mission because they stiffed an underage prostitute for like 30 bucks.“ So there may not be anything more than luck and myths working that this hasn’t happened more often.6 points

Lots of speculation, woulda, shoulda, coulda, disinformation and out right lies all over the TV and internet right now. Conspiracy theories abound. The simple fact is that there' very little proven info right now. So just hold up a bit and wait for real facts before making any conclusions.5 points

Just saw Dan Bongino saying much the same as I did about the counter-snipers and the overall failure of the SS. I had forgotten that the SS director was a female. DEI appears to have been in play here. Am I bad for thinking that?5 points
-
I said something similar within moments after I saw the shooting. I’ve worked with the SS for Presidential security for 2 Presidents on 2 continents. EX-Presidential security is not as intense, I would imagine, but also I would have thought that that would have ramped up for the campaign. Whether it’s B team agents or lack of funding/number of agents and resources, something is wrong here. There just wasn’t that much high ground here with line of sight to Trump. Each of those spots should have been covered, if not with dedicated anti-sniper oversight, then with local police or SS control of access to those roofs. Their response didn’t seem Tier 1 either. One other thing I noticed is that there seemed to be an high number of female agents after the attempt. I know there are female agents that would have no problem kicking my azz but honestly, in the overall scheme of high level assets, those numbers are just way lower than the number of males in the same job. I’m not saying the fix is in, but I am saying that Trump should have had better coverage nd planning.5 points

For someone whose "people" have been stereotyped for far too long, you sure do paint with a mighty broad brush there.4 points
-
Well, according to the Carrot Top witness, the cops he was yelling at were like "what do you mean?" and didn't react very quickly. So SS may not have even been notified. Notified or not, not having eyes on that roof is baffling.4 points

I'm reading some very thoughtless, evil, and incendiary posts here. The usual suspects have started the baiting. I would recommend that the moderators turn this thread off and let things cool down. This stopped being about news about page 3 as near as I can tell; and has been the usual " resident know it alls " against the exasperated and agitated from about page four on. You resident know it alls are doing nothing other than inflaming tensions and doing what they always do --- that is to put on a full show of know it all commenting and baiting, bantering words, and belittling those who don't see things their way. I for one, do not understand why this thread has not been shut down and these usual suspects warned. The truth is that a very high profile public figure has survived an assignation attempt and bystanders are dead and wounded. This also appears to be very stinky to most folks, and I'm one of em... That is the take away and my thought for the evening. leroy...4 points

TDS! Just kidding, I just figured I'd call it first so nobody else will. If someone is going to respond to his post, at least try to make it well thought out.3 points

I agree - let's get some facts and not go riot. I was chastised as a racist the last time I made this observation. The video is definitely odd, but appears to be the same guy that SS killed. Maybe it's another "cheap fake." If the video is legit, I doubt it will be broadcast all over MSM. So yeah, Indian news may be more relevant these days.3 points
-
Another thing I find odd or negligent is that a witness saw the shooter maneuvering on the roof and yelled to LEOs and pointed to the roof. In my experiences with these situations, there would have been a SS agent inside the dispatch center or command post that has radio contact with local LEOs. Upon a report like this being radioed in, the agent would have immediately notified the anti-sniper teams.3 points

Stop the bickering. Every single time this man comes onto the forum for “tennessee gun owners”, which he in fact is, there are always several who want to start in with some direct or passive aggressive insults for someone who might not be in line with their personal opinions. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. So many might want to respect that.3 points

No. We all kind of thirst for details in moments like this considering reports as of now, and what I can discern from the images and videos of what appears to be in AR style rifle. I’m going to assume that it was a 223/556.2 points

I don’t support either candidate. I’m simply anti-Trump. I’m no fan of Trump. As I stated in an earlier post , Trump started his campaign in 2015 with negativity and divisiveness. Trump has increased his negativity and violent rhetoric year upon year. Trump has a history of housing discrimination and cheating contractors. He made jokes when Pelosi’s husband was attacked, he wanted/wants to use the military instead of law enforcement against protestors, and older black people remember Trump wanting the death penalty for five innocent teenagers wrongly accused of rape in Central Park. After they were exonerated, he didn’t say a word. I was a fan of “The Apprentice”, but nothing about that Mark Burnett fantasy production was real. As I stated yesterday, I hope Trump takes this assassination attempt as an opportunity to tone down the rhetoric, but I don’t see that happening. Yesterday’s attack will be a political cash cow and ease Trump down the road into the presidency. I’m one of the few people who believe Trump is vain enough to support the Heritage Foundation’s democracy destroying “Project 2025” and still be anti-gun, especially after yesterday. Lastly, from my point of view as a minority in this country, I believe Trump has made open racism acceptable again with a certain, insecure, older segment of society. To me, that’s unforgivable. As for Biden, I have no allegiance to him or the Democrat party. They are rotten, self serving politicians who take the black vote for granted, but so would the republicans if they could ever regain a footing on that ground. Most blacks have always had mostly conservative leanings, but it appears that we are not welcome in the GOP, especially when no one in that party openly speaks out against the rise in the white nationalist/supremacy movement that no longer lurks in the shadows. At least the democrats fake their desire for diversity. I don’t wear Biden paraphernalia, I don’t watch Biden speeches, I don’t donate any money to Biden. Biden’s only redeeming quality that will earn him my vote again is simply because he’s not Trump. I also believe that Biden should have dropped out of the race in favor of someone who is not so divisive within his own party.2 points

SOLD Here's a complete P365 setup, ready to put on and go. You get the P365 (2019 production, so there's still plenty of life left in the tritium) with Wilson Combat grip module. Also you get seven OEM magazines -- two 10-round with flat floorplate, one 10-round with pinky rest floorplate, and four 13-round with extended finger rest floorplate. Comes with original box and all accessories, with one exception: I've somehow lost the original SIG grip module. I decided as soon as I bought the gun that the original grip was too small for my Size L hands, so I replaced it with the excellent Wilson Combat grip module, which is still small but feels more usable to me. I like the Wilson Combat much better, but if you'd prefer the smaller original SIG grip module, I see there's one here in the classified ads for $30. To round out the deal, I'm including a kydex AIWB holster. I'm selling this only because I have a P365XL that gets used often while this one sits in the safe. (The P365XL also has the Wilson Combat grip module. I think it's just great.) Since I don't have the factory grip module, I'll sell this rig for $475 to a TN resident legally able to purchase handguns. I live in Chattanooga but would be willing to drive a reasonable distance for a deal. Thanks for looking, Whisper2 points

We have no idea what thoughts were in his head yet. None. We know he was wearing a Demolition Ranch shirt but may not mean anything either. Both sides are trying to cherry pick facts already. You've got people claiming Trump staged this which is equally ridiculous. There is what? That video didn't tell us anything new. Republic World is "India's #1 English News Channel". We get our news from an Indian YouTube channel now? I would not be surprised if the intro to that video is doctored.2 points

I wasn’t stereotyping anybody. I was trying to make a point about not jumping the gun and destroying a city before any facts are known (like BLM has famously done several times). It wasn’t aimed at you, so I’m sorry if you took it that way. If you can’t acknowledge that possibility, there’s nothing more to say.2 points

Not to play mediator or anything, but i "think" the BLM comment was meant as "people escalating things without fact" and not a direct shot at you for being a black guy. Hug it out fellas. Back to our nations duress.2 points

Damn the President was just about killed, and people here are talking how now he will be an anti 2a president, really come on this isn't the time for any of that. You know what no one is perfect and no one will have your pure beliefs, but for my 57 years on this earth Trump is the best President during that time. He maybe an A**hole like the rest of us, but at this point voting for him or not he deserves our support. God bless him and this country we need it.2 points

People who want a new civil war to kick off are morons looking for an excuse to larp around town in their gear and possibly shoot someone. Let's see how you feel when it's your neighborhood and family getting shot up. I swear...2 points

I will try to avoid the political end of this, I'm sure it will be covered. Saw the vid in slow motion, 1. Trump grabbed his ear and kept speaking, looked at his hand and put it back to his ear before SS floored him. Secret Service was slow. 2. How did security allow someone to climb the back of the bleachers. Security was lax 3. Secret Service agent infront of Trump after he was put into his vehicle couldn't find her holster. 4. Shooter got off more than one shot. Several people need more training. And before anyone brings it up, I know about stress and adrenalin and that is what we train for.2 points
-
I want to know how people here already know who did the shooting. They may be correct, but damn, let the investigation begin first. Also, I lost faith in the SS after they deleted those January 6th phone logs.2 points

Stop what? One side has a lot more guns and hasn’t started using them. Just admit that the rhetoric on the left went too far and one of their crazies took it to heart. You really can’t compare both sides at this point.2 points

I'm going to add this to this thread. Something that I've noticed is that there is a list of recurring offenders that seemingly all repeat some or all of the following: 1) Read a comment that someone else has written and then assume it is directed directly at themselves. 2) Reply to that comment in an inflammatory manner, directing it at the other member. 3) Crying foul and then fouling themselves. 4) Assume something was an insult when maybe it truly wasn't. 5) Insult others because of some dispute that was several years back. I didn't name any members specifically, so I don't expect anyone else to name them for me. If this is you, then know this message was directed at you. Now, there is something that I've learned about myself at work. I've noticed I have a higher sense of perception than a lot of people. I can be in a meeting and two or three people can be discussing something and disagreeing about it. The thing is, I notice that they aren't actually disagreeing because they aren't even talking about the same thing. Once I point out directly to to them what each of them are "actually meaning" they each nod their head saying, "Yeah yeah, that's what I mean!". Then they realize they aren't actually disagreeing but rather misunderstanding (or in some cases, poorly explaining themselves). As an inverse of that, I've also noticed that a lot of people seem to have a huge issue with seeing other people's perspective. It doesn't mean that you have to agree with them, but it simply means that you see their perspective and maybe even why they think the way that they do. I say all of this to simply say, stop bickering. Look, I got told I had TDS at the beginning of this thread but has anyone considered that they have TDSS?1 point
