I do not open carry. But I guarantee you, that I notice those that do. And being a cautious person, I keep an eye on them.3 points

Way back in 2001 I was visiting a friend in Missouri. At that time. there was no concealed carry, but open carry was legal. So I open carried while I was there. Nobody said a word, but I could feel all the eyes on me everywhere we went. At one point I was standing in a line with a Police Officer. He gave me a real hard eyeball, but didn't say anything. Frankly, it made me uncomfortable. I have not open carried since and likely never will.3 points

He had a farm up here in Macon County. A local realtor has an annual benefit auction for St Jude. Bonsall would bring children’s’ books he’d written and donate them to the auction. He’d stay and autograph them for the winning bidders. He was also a regular at my buddy’s gun shop. Seemed like a good guy to me.2 points

Or maybe they are trying to not make it a huge issue for a voting block that may actually be considering Trump due to how bad Biden is. Sometimes it’s better to hide your intentions and gain what little you can. That may not be it at all, but no 2nd amendment person is not voting Republican anyway. Or at a minimum not voting Dem. They are trying to grab people in the middle.2 points

I carry openly when out in the woods, but never in a public place where I expect to meet other people. Generally speaking, I think that those who are in the OC crowd want to be noticed. I prefer not to be.2 points

I doubt there's much reliable "proof" either way, but my experience with members of the OC community aren't pleasant. I get a sense that most (not all) OC'ers are seeking attention and like @deerslayer said, most often have junk holsters you can buy at Walmart and almost zero sense of situational awareness. Plus, I'm all for our rights, but I feel like it's a game of trying to scare teh anti-gunners and/or wanting a confrontation.2 points

I live down McFarlin off Kidd. It would not be the same neighbors as I can hazard a guess and say I am 2~4 miles from you but there is fairly frequent weekend gunfire at a property over the hill from me and I have never heard a complaint or noticed any law enforcement visits. No posts on the neighborhood Facebook groups for the nearby subdivisions that I have seen either. I did see a post pop up on that stupid Next-door App my wife signed up for once and the general replies to the post from other users were, "this is the country, not the city", "mind your own business", and "they can do what they want on their property so leave them be". Build it safe and be respectful of the time of day you shoot. If you can shoot suppressed, it is wonderful. If all else fails make friends with some of the neighbors that might also shoot and invite them to use it on occasion. Make allies incase the enemies come knocking.2 points

Like voting I really don't think it's anyone's business if I'm armed or not. For me there is no sense advertising.2 points

To each his own, but I never thought the open carry thing wuz a good idea unless ya were goin hunting, working on the farm or woods, or goin to a shooting event. To me, it's a relic of times passed and it opens the door to lotsa potential problems; not the least of which is panic calls from the " less reasonable and informed " to police that an armed madman is on the loose. I would much prefer that my pistola(s) be much like my sainted mom's petticoat slip n bloomers; very demure and out of sight of prying eyes... leroy...2 points

The pictures don't do this jewel justice! It's super gorgeous with only a mark or two on the rear of the stock. I've shot maybe 10 rounds through it over the years and there's ABSOLUTELY no signs of being loaded on the loading gate. Really nice, fellas!! Attachments1 point

Hey guys, anyone in the Nolensville unincorporated area that shoots on their property? Especially around Kidd Rd? The area has a lot of new subdivisions going up and I was curious if you are getting noise complaints? I would like to build a 100 yard range on a 10 acres piece of property. It will be completely surrounded by woods and I plan to put berms and sound barriers up of some sort but I’m sure it will still be loud. I want to be very respectful of my neighbors but also want to express my right to shoot on my property for an hour a week or so during working hours. Just have a feeling with this area being so built up the complaints will be coming in. anyone in the area dealing with this? Thanks!1 point

Just because nobody started a conversation about your gun doesn’t mean they didn’t notice. I bet somebody took note.1 point

The specs say hard chromed finish 4140 steel barrels. There is no mag disconnect safety. if you can make it through all the blah, blah, blah, this guy unboxes one of the color cased ones.1 point

I am aware of one land owner in that general area that shoots fairly often on a home built range and from what I have been told he gets complaints and has had LEOs stop by but he is all legal and there isn't much complaints will do other than waste time. Strategic Edge is only ~30 minutes from Nolensville and you can shoot all you want with no complaints.1 point

I'm glad we have open carry for this reason, but most of the OCers I see are Fudd-types or wannabes who could probably be disarmed by my daughter. A crap holster and no situational awareness make a lousy combination.1 point

Not sure if Ginex primers are any good but the price and free hazmat shipping, they might be good enough for the price. https://americanreloading.com/product/ginex-small-rifle-primers-free-shipping-hazmat/?mc_cid=5015fe51ac&mc_eid=2ad0ff8406 https://americanreloading.com/product/ginex-large-rifle-primers-free-shipping-haz/?mc_cid=5015fe51ac&mc_eid=2ad0ff8406 https://americanreloading.com/product/ginex-large-pistol-primers-free-shipping-hazmat/1 point

Your neighbors can stop back yard shooting whenever they deem it a nuisance or annoyance under that prevision. If I wanted to shoot in my yard, on a regular basis, I would find another property. Gun haters are everywhere, and they can move in tomorrow the way property is selling today. Most of my neighbors have been here for years and they know I shoot from time to time.1 point

Sorry just seeing this and Thank You Pop!!! We didn’t win the bid on the house. Just came back here because now we are looking at another house in a different area. We just about signed the papers and my son found the below restriction on the Deed and it has me pretty concerned to the point we are currently not going through with the sale until I can talk to some neighbors, even then if they are all ok with shooting, I still have reservations! Aesthetic Requirements: No non-functioning vehicle(s) of scrap or junk parts may be kept in plain view. Any such items must be housed in an appropriate building. No tract shall be used as a dumping ground or holding place for trash or rubbish. Tracts shall be kept clean and sanitary. No objectionable or offensive trade shall be carried on upon any tract, nor shall anything be done thereon which may become a nuisance or annoyance to the "neighborhood".1 point

I am all for carrying anywhere and everywhere. I also believe I shouldn't have to pay for a permit to exercise my rights. However, I am not a fan of open carry. The one who open carries is the first one shot. The one who open carries may have his/her weapon taken from them from behind. The most likely though is to have some liberal call 911 to report a man with a gun.1 point

I’m mostly interested in preventing something like this from ever happening again in the future. If there is something in those notes that could help with that, I think keeping them locked away is an injustice. I cannot begin to imagine the grief those involved live with every day, but I’d think they’d want to prevent a repeat of this as well.1 point

In case you haven’t noticed, our government, as well as the media, have recently proven themselves quite untrustworthy. This, coupled with the fact so many folks are adamant the public not see this material makes me think that something very bad is being covered up.1 point

There's nothing you can do about what other people complain about. If it's legal, you're doing it safely, and at reasonable hours, have at it. Any complaints will stop after the Sheriff's deputy stops by a time or two, sees all is fine, and tells the Karens to quit calling.1 point
