  1. I have 3 Taurus 617 style 7 shot SS 2" brl 357/38 revolvers. One is blued. They are K frame size. No issues with any of them and have had them 10 years. Carry one of them every day and have for the past few years. All shoot to aim and have smooth triggers on them. One is an ultralight and only fires 38 special and is + P rated. I highly recommend later models of Taurus revolvers. The one I carry has several rounds (1,000+) through it. Is still very tight and functions well, although most of the rounds through it was 38 spl practice ammo. Have fired 4 boxes of 357 full power through it though.

  3. I've owned a 605, 605 polymer, a tracker, all .357, and I've loved them all. Granted, I don't recommend shooting hot loaded .357 magnum out of the 605 polymer unless you have some strong wrists and hands, but the 605 poly was a great backup edc, kept one in an ankle rig for a couple of years with Hornady Critical defense .357 mag. The metal 605 is a nice backpacking carry, and I've used my tracker for a trail gun when I use to ride horses. Note: D/A pull on the 605 isn't the smoothest until you run about a 700 pulls, so some snap caps and dry fire drills are a want, just to help break in the trigger without having to go through ammo, or causing harm to the firing pin. S/A they're decent.

  6. It's like trading in a car to the dealership. You're not going to the same money as private party because they've got overhead. Since prices fluctuate regularly, you have to go in and see what they will offer you at that time.

  9. Part 1 was fantastic. I got nervous in part 2 when they went deeper into the secret society stuff.. and as expected, they took it too far. 3 had good action and that's about it. Didn't watch 4. I'm sure i'll catch it at some point. I can only take so much Keanu. He seems like a legit nice guy. He's also really good as an action star. Acting though.. not so much. He's fine in the Wick or Matrix flicks because he doesn't have to do a lot of dialogue. He's very stiff and really only excels with broken sentence one-liners. However, he was really good as the voice of Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk. Back on topic. Even if the plot is bad, this is the kind of movie I want to see in theaters. I don't want theaters to go away because i selfishly want Hollywood to get their act together and start making good movies again.

  10. Absolutely @Moped. 100% I read Pistol-Forum daily (around 10 years) as I do TGO (for around 15 years). Lots of knowledge on both forums, just a difference in focus usually. I learn from both. 50-50 issues seems to be about right from what I read there (P-F), and a lot of the folks are active or retired trainers within their departments, active professional trainers, or industry folks, and some very knowledgeable "hobbyists" . If I weren't buying a 30+/- year old S&W Revolver (usually "shooter-grade") that's within my limited gunsmithing skills (parts replacement and a little honing) I would seriously look at current production Taurus. But it's certainly not unusual for each to occasionally make trips back to the "Mothership" for tweaking... I think the risk as it relates to a Taurus 856 having issues is relatively low currently. But the risk just seems to remain with both S&W and Taurus...probably most gun manufactures these days, sadly. But Taurus customer service seems to have improved dramatically over the past couple of years. That said, I've had a great experience with Smith's customer service just last year. Life has risks

  14. Yet again I'm having another " Old Age Mania ".. I'm wanting to carry a " K " frame size 3 or 4 inch 38/357 revolver, but I don't want to take one of my beloved Smiths out of the safe. That said; I'm interested in the brotherhood and sisterhood's opinions on medium and small frame Taurus Revolvers, along with any recommendations. Thanks as always... leroy ...

  18. Does anyone besides young people still regularly attend a movie theater anymore? When my kids were much younger, they attended Central Day School in Collierville, so every Monday I would go to the Collierville theater to watch almost anything. When I walked in, they knew I wanted a large Coke, a hot dog and a small popcorn. I always went to the first showing, so I almost, always had the theater to myself. Now days I prefer watching movies at home. I have so many streaming apps that I can wait to see anything new that comes out. The exception may be Costner’s “American Saga.” I had planned to wait for it to stream, but the other night while watching a recording with my wife, the trailer for American Saga came on and I decided to watch it again instead of fast forwarding like I normally do. Well, the wife saw it and screamed “that looks like it’s going to be good!” I agreed, then told her about the excitement being generated about the movie. So, if see wants to go to the theater, we’ll be going to the theater. My out may be that my wife has a short attention span and does one hundred things at once, so she may never mention the movie again.

  20. Leroy, let us know what you end up doing. While I like Taurus Revolvers, I also like old S&Ws. My two latest revolvers are a Model 10-5 (1983) pencil barrel which is a joy to shoot! The trigger is smooth as butter. I do wish it were a 2 or 3” though. I also recently got a pre Model 30 (early 1950s) .32 S&W Long 6 shot I frame with the flat latch. It’s very accurate, but the tigger is no where near as smooth as the Model 10.

  23. I have never run into that and I have gone to South Carolina, Louisville Kentucky, and Cincinnati Ohio to buy vehicles. I rarely have a vehicle serviced at the dealer I bought it from. Always found some good deals looking 100 or more miles from home. Dealerships make money off the manufacturers warranty no mater where the vehicle was purchased. The book hours and rates don't change based on where the car was sold. Since most dealer service departments operate fairly independently from the sales side, including financially, they could care less where a car was originally sold. Dealerships make more money selling used inventory than new inventory. They also make more off the financing, supplemental warranties, and dealer add on services than they do off the sale of new inventory. Bottom line is the actual sale of a new vehicle independent of all of the above is probably the lowest income generator and thus the lowest priority of the dealer. What they really want is to sell you undercoating, extended warranties, fabric protection, and finance plans. Those are their real products, they just happen to be attached to a big chunk of metal and plastic you have to buy first. You can negotiate a good deal locally but I have found better luck shopping online, negotiating a sale via phone one I found what I wanted, and driving or flying to go finalize and pick it up. Saved thousands doing that and it is easier to back them off of all the "extra" crap when you are well outside their region with your own financing. I once had an engine replaced under warranty at 32,000 miles, just inside the factory warranty. Did not purchase it at the local dealer but I did have it serviced there. I bought it new on the other side of the state, cash deal no financing and no supplemental warranties. Local dealer had done the oil changes since I drove it home from point of purchase and they had zero issues replacing the motor when it spun a bearing. it was not really their decision anyway. They had to run it through the regional warranty manager for the manufacturer to approve the warranty claim. They got paid the same by the manufacturer for the work and the OEM sent them the engine to install. Dealer service is the important part of that equation and why I have my work done at the dealer or dealer approved service location while it is still under warranty. When they have the records of regular maintenance and it was performed inhouse it is harder for them to deny a warranty claim for poor maintenance or owner neglect. Once it is out of warranty and I am footing the bill it is either in my garage or at trusted local independent shop.

  24. Only thing that caught my eye are the 21rd 365 mags for the Fuse models. Assuming they make baseplates to fit other grip lengths of the 365 family would be a fun addition to my standard size 365!

  26. I have a Model 627 Tracker 7 shot .357 that’s a wonderful gun to shoot! Very accurate, decent trigger and the barrel ports do a great job taming recoil. I recommend it! It’s been my hiking pistol for the last 4 years. The men and women over at Pistol-Forum.com, mostly think highly of the 856 in either 2” or 3” barrels. Most claim to see as many issues now a days with the S&Ws as the Taurus. I think @Jamie Jackson would back me up on that. I’d be glad to let you try it out.

  28. I've had a few. I'll pick up a 605 at some point as a mate to my 608. Only issue I've encountered was a heavy trigger on a concealed hammer 357. Can't remember the model number of that. Never had an issue with breakage, timing, or accuracy from any of them. To make it clear, I haven't bought a new Taurus in 30 years so I missed the problem years. My 608 was a used import, it's so smooth I have to believe it had some work done by a previous owner. It's heavy of course but the porting and weight make it pleasant even with full power 158gr slugs. At the moment I have 3 PTs in 45 acp and am looking for more. Plan is to own one of every Taurus 45.

  32. Will Carry nailed it. What you want is a knockaround gun that you won't worry about and can just enjoy. One of the old (pre-lock) Taurus revolvers would do that job fine.

  34. This, summarizes the television and movie industry. There’s no creativity anymore. When it comes to series, it’s extremely rare to find one with a decent ending. Again, good points. I’m a DCS flight sim guy, so I’ll watch almost any with airplanes in it. Resurrection sucked! Yep, 80” screen and Bose sound system puts us right in the middle of the action. I have a Butt Kicker on my flight sim chair. The company has an adapter that allows you connect a kicker to your sofa. I’ve thinking about putting one on each corner.

On the blade itself, Protech and Strider small images are mandatory Back to the handle, If you all would just like the design like we did on the Godfather, just the 3 bullet holes, I think that would look the best personally Let me know if you want that, Much more discreet and refined in my opinion

  40. This post was perfect timing as I just recently received a suppressor delivery from CA. Very happy with whole process and coming home to a suppressor at the door was great. Calling CA was so much better than calling Silencer Shop. I've got 2 more pending with CA. I used THP MATT PERRY, COLONEL for the law enforcement notification section. You choose who to use when filling out paperwork after purchase. Here's the timeline it took. Purchased 8/1/23 Certified 8/11/23 Approved 2/1/24 Delivered 2/25/24

  41. Yeah, those Marlin 60's are classics. My dad had one and I gave it to my son. Was originally looking for another one but saw this Remington and I had never owned one of those.

  42. Well, what money I have is "stupid" money for sure, ha, ha. But as I mentioned in my original post, I already have a Winchester 52 and a 75 which is almost on the same par, but those rifles are very heavy and not what I need for long walks and lots of off hand shooting. I did find something today in a pawn shop. It is a classic from Remington. The model 512P Sportsman. Bolt action and tube fed. This one was made in 1946 and it fits all of the needs that I have. While I have run some rounds through it, I have not sighted it in yet so I will need to get some time to do that and dial it in.

  43. It’s hard to beat a classic 10/22 in a hardwood stock for a woods gun. I just bought one and have a Leupold 4x28 coming in today to put on it. If you keep the scope light or run irons, it’s plenty light to haul around on a sling or in hand. Synthetic would be even lighter but loses that nostalgia for me.

  44. Look what I got for Christmas. A BadAce mount and a LER 4x Burris wi FFP, BDC reticle. How could my wife have known !!! It was a very peculiar experience for me to shoot via an LER scope for the 1st time. Will take getting used to. Initially I really do not care for it at all. I always thought these set ups look goofy. Even more so in person. BUT I was able to target out to 300yds. No-go on the 1950’s Yugo M49. Will need a high-power spring in the bolt. I was able to get 2-3” groups with 1990’s Yugo M75 as well as that WWII Nazi 178gr MG ammo that’s been around lately. Actually, I have been VERY pleased with that German stuff. Was getting at and under 2” with my Yugo M48. This last trip was pretty cold and I was irritated by the LER scope so I’m sure when I have some patience it’ll do much better. Plus I forgot a gel pad and after a few boxes of ammo my shoulder was quickly DONE.
