For fun and plinking uses, I like to Ruger Mark Series. The S&W Victory is pretty good too. Taurus TX22 is a pretty good gun too, and is a little better as a training aid in my opinion; if that’s something you are looking for3 points

I was curious if there are any locals getting together to chat about "things" It would seem a good idea to get to know each other. Or if anyone rides motorcycles we can meet for a ride. Then have some conversation over a burger, beer or Sweet Tea. Who knows what events the future will bring and it would seem logical to know who and where our "people" are.2 points

@gun sane it gobbles up subsonic all the same as well which is quite impressive1 point

TX-22 was my pick. Optics ready from the factory on a non-reciprocating mount and a threaded barrel made it an easy decision for me.1 point

Super tempting considering my name is written all over it1 point

Taurus TX22. They just released their revised TORO version. I like it far better than my Sig P322 and it's cheaper.1 point

Man, why is it so hard to find a decent mosin for anything under $400? Trying to find my first one, but I'm not quite ready to spend $500 on a plain one with no ammo. I wish I could still find them for dirt cheap like a few years ago. Anyone getting rid of one? Hahaha.1 point

I've created a list of vendors that don't charge sales tax so I'll cross-reference that when searching. There are a surprising amount that don't charge and also have decent prices and lower cost shipping.1 point

I'll say one thing about Amazon, when you have an impulsive itch it can get scratched quickly. Ordered last night and already here this afternoon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C9Y445KR/?tag=akfnfal-20 Thanks to another forum member, this little guy is almost exactly what I was looking for. Compact, fairly light, range bag friendly, precision movement and absolutely handles the weight of this big ol Vortex w/o the least bit of wobble. Not sure how it will do prone, the legs will go flat, but probably not ideal. I’m guessing a Creedmoor style will be better for expert competition, etc, but this had a relatively low $ risk to try. I don't know if it's a low-end feature but the guide handle on my current cheapo, POS tripod will allow horizontal/vertical adjust by untwisting (convenient). This is thumbscrew adjust.1 point

Have you ever purchased a firearm through a FFL? If so, there is already a record of you being a gun owner.1 point

Golden rod, I have very high humidity where I keep mine and it keeps the rust away.1 point

I just wanted to give a hearty recommendation for Volunteer Firearms in Vonore. I am new to TN and was looking to pick up some AR lowers. I stopped into Volunteer and met Bob who runs the shop. He was super nice and welcoming, even to a new face. Unfortunately, they had just run out of stock for the model I was looking for so I ended up buying them online from Primary Arms. After the purchase, Bob was super quick to email his FFL to PA per their instructions and then he called me right away when they got delivered. It seemed near impossible back home to find a shop that would check their email and communicate clearly. When I showed up to the shop there was no wait and the lowers were ready to go. Transfer cost was very reasonable compared to some other shops that I called.1 point
