Here's one you don't see everyday! All original High Standard "Sport King" pistol in 22lr. Serial number shows a 1951 date of manufacture! I picked this up at an estate sale. Very tight, no rust, no nicks or dings. In original box with original instruction manual! Let's keep this local to Spring Hill/South Nashville area. $500 Cash or $550 for those who like to negotiate!4 points

I was smart, after a few times of doing that, I started parking on an incline. Danged starter for a pre-tacoma back then late 80s, was $400, after almost a year of doing that I took the starter apart, ended up just needing a $7 bent piece of copper.4 points

Many, not all, homes were within the homeowner's budget when they bought them, but inflation and tax assessment hikes have taken their toll. With all those Californians and New Yorkers making all the homes and property go up in value, the new, and probably temporary issue has left many homeowners in a bind tax wise. My assessment went up over 60% for the 24 tax season, so those on a fixed income will definitely feel it next April, so living within their means right now is out the door next year.3 points

Cleaned and took to the range today. Shot a variety of ammunition without any malfunction. A great 1911 for the price.2 points

The problem is that politicians have personal financial interest/benefit in these corporations doing what they do, thus no corrective legislation will be pushed. Just empty promises to make people think they are looking out for the masses BS.2 points

I feel for her. Just gotta keep on keeping on I suppose. Or push for those better jobs and promotions. At least she's 24 so she's got plenty of runway to catch up. She's doing better than most just by having a place of her own.2 points

I, like numerous other parents, have a child that's just graduated. It scares the heck out of me that he can't afford to live anywhere around me. Single bedroom apartments are charging rent that's as high as my house payment. So unless he buckles down and makes well over 6 figures (impossible at his age), he's gonna be living with me or shacked up with 2-3 friends 'house poor' in some crummy apartment.2 points

What do you want it for? Home defense? Hunting? If so, hunting what? Skeet or trap shooting? All this matters to find the right gun, many choices out there.2 points

I'm also unhappy with the price of groceries these days. But I'm old, retired, live alone and financially secure. I don't like it, but I do just fine. For those who do struggle, the internet is plumb full of info on how to make every grocery dollar count. You won't eat fancy, but you will eat. But then some people refuse to substitute hamburger for steak. They're also real fond of fast food and restaurants . Much of their problem is in their own dietary habits and tastes. As for mortgages, then you hit upon one of my pet peeves. For individuals, the housing market sucks! Big real estate corporations are buying up single family dwellings all over the country. Often buying sight unseen and for thousands over asking prices. First time home buyers can't compete with that. Or worse, end up buying more house than they can actually afford because that's all there is out there. For many young couples, the dream of buying a home is just that, a dream.2 points

I am not a Harley fan at all so hack and spray away! There is a reason those original parts sell for such good money though. People want to restore wrecked or previously hacked up versions of the bike back to "original" Seldom do modified bikes bring original bike money.2 points

Depends on who your roommates are. Some are much better than others. My oldest son shared a house with a "friend" and his wife. They finally recently moved out. Thank God!1 point

Projects like this go way better when the builder is older, wiser, and more frugal. Too many young whipper snappers would just go buck wild with the grinder instead of waiting on parts and waste hundreds or thousands of dollars by chopping up high-dollar parts. I have a ton of respect for your restraint, both economically and mentally.1 point

The new owner will likely divide it up, build a bunch of houses and list at $250,000 or more each.1 point

As a younger guy, I can remember shoreline fishing, picking mayflys off a nearby tree. I could get bites on every cast as long as there was a fish nearby. I bet the cicadas are making things tough for sure.1 point

Remington 870, slug barrel and a smooth bore 22 inch barrel set up with choke tubes. As well as a short barrel for home defense. I think the most versatile firearm out there.1 point

And having the biggest, newest, pickup truck on the block in a neighborhood they can’t afford living in with insurance rates skyrocketing to match the grossly overinflated house values in this state. Not to mention everyday expenses that are unaffordable due to previously mentioned commitments. “But the bill just says minimum payment due”. That kind of ignorance has a lot to do with it as well. And none of that has jack #### to do with the government.1 point

I’ll argue it was for a home they could not afford to begin with.1 point

I'm going to take them off & replace them with aftermarket copies. My original plan was to attack the rear fender with the grinder & repaint them all matt black but they're so clean, I can't bring myself to do it. And I saw how much they sell for as a complete, matching set... There are a couple of sets on ebay right now that're priced at more than half what I paid for the bike! I'm not expecting or wanting that much, but I'm fairly sure I could get 4 figures for them.1 point

Been there, done that. Once I was drowning in credit card debt. Its especially hard on young people trying to get themselves established in this world. The interest charges will eat you up. But many do it to themselves. They want what they want and they want it right now! I think all of us have had to stand in a checkout line waiting while the person in front of us tries multiple credit cards to make their purchase. Or worse are the people who buy little items such as one soft drink or fast food and pay with a credit card. That sort of thing adds up real quick. I got myself out of credit card debt some 30 years ago. Today I have one credit card and its used primarily for internet purchases. I also pay off the balance every month. For most everyday items, I pay cash. If I don't have enough cash, I just don't buy it.1 point
