  1. I'm also unhappy with the price of groceries these days. But I'm old, retired, live alone and financially secure. I don't like it, but I do just fine. For those who do struggle, the internet is plumb full of info on how to make every grocery dollar count. You won't eat fancy, but you will eat. But then some people refuse to substitute hamburger for steak. They're also real fond of fast food and restaurants . Much of their problem is in their own dietary habits and tastes. As for mortgages, then you hit upon one of my pet peeves. For individuals, the housing market sucks! Big real estate corporations are buying up single family dwellings all over the country. Often buying sight unseen and for thousands over asking prices. First time home buyers can't compete with that. Or worse, end up buying more house than they can actually afford because that's all there is out there. For many young couples, the dream of buying a home is just that, a dream.

  2. Using Kroger as an example, I have literally seen nearly 100% increase in prices on some things in the past 4 years and I swear every week I go in there something I want has been jacked up again. As far as housing goes you hit on an even greater issue. It’s literally tearing the fabric of society apart, especially in TN. Just imagine if all these people raising hell about language, he/she’s, Palestinians, and whatever the outrage of the day is started focusing on the increasing threat to their daily lives then we might start seeing some of that “change” everyone talks about.

  7. Excellent Rifle that has been shot very little, if at all. Added the Archangel stock, changed the flash hider, added springfield scope mount, vortex scope, 1 20 rnd mag, quick disconnect sling, factory Rifle bag and factory stock included. $1900 cash without Scope and mount.

  10. If I could only do one, it would be the TFA without question. John and the crew work their asses off for us and they are in our yard. ANY one who is even aware of this site and lives in TN should be a member of the TFA and making regular contributions, if possible.

  12. Going to replace the batteries in my truck. It has 2. The ones in it now are 5 years old and we travel to out of the way places so I don't want any battery trouble, if I can help it. Been running O Riley's batteries because I can get a large discount on them. Son in law has an account and I get them wholesale.

  14. I’ve bought the last several batteries I’ve needed for different vehicles and my tractor at Pull- a- Part. They have them up front and I usually find one with a date sticker on less than a year old.

  15. I primarily use Hornaday. Critical Duty in the full size guns (>4” bbl) and Critical Defense in my sub/micro compact (<4” bbl) guns. That round choice split is based on the manufacture’s documentation in how they were designed for best function and performance. (The names are a hint.)

  16. Not completely disagreeing with you, but from another angle they could simply argue that you are a wanna be LE vigilante using super effective killing ammo without the training.

  18. Blued Colt XSE 1911 in .45. Has 10-8 sights, Wilson Combat BP ambi-safety and a Smith & Alexander magwell. At present, spends all of its time in the safe and would rather this go to someone who will actually use it. Has slight holster wear on slide/frame from some range use and 347 rounds down the pipe. Asking $875. Willing to meet a buyer either in Knoxville or between Knoxville and Clinton. Buyer will need to show TN ID (ideally CHP). Will accept cash, venmo, or paypal FF.

  19. reliable function in. your carry platform is critical. beyond that, I choose what local/state/federal law enforcement uses. strips away one more thing an aggressive prosecutor may try to use against you in a justified self defense case. HST are a solid choice for me.

  21. Be sure to hang the targets correctly because you can get bullet splatter coming back at you. The targets need to be swinging or mounted at an angle to the ground so the splatter is directed downward at the ground. I had a whole lead R N bullet hit me on the shin and I was shooting directly into a seasoned Oak hardwood target backstop and it came straight back at me and brought blood on my shin. Don't ask me how but it can happen. I don't get closer than 21' from my swinging metal targets and wear protective eye safety shooting glasses. They actually recommend farther away than what I do. Edited to add; My 6" pistol rack is slanted toward the back, at the top, and they direct the splatter upward and behind the target. They fall backward and are not solid mounted when struck by a bullet. Be safe with steel!

  26. Gold Dot, HST, Ranger all good as are most modern makers defense loads. For cold weather situations, FMJ gives better penetration through heavy clothing. JMHO.

  28. Most any good defensive load will get the job done. But every gun is different. I suggest you buy several different boxes of quality defense ammo and go to the range. Whatever is most reliable and shoots the best in your gun is what you go with.

  30. Chambers is a good one for sure but his wait times are probably a year or two right now as with most top smiths. I liked my two NightHawk's and my Wilson CQBE, I've probably got close to 20,000rnds + down it and all I've had to replace were the springs and an extractor. Gun Crafter by Alex Zimmerman is another good 1911. If your looking for a custom built one PM me I know a local builder that is great, he builds 1911's and 2011's just as good as Chambers and few other top smiths plus he personally knows most of them.
