I fell into the credit card/interest bondage when I was single. I spent a lot trying to impress the young ladies. I finally married a frugal woman who minored in math in college. She watches the bills and checkbook like a hawk. We live modestly and don't go for all the latest and greatest gizmos that lure others into debt. We bought used cars and she is a Golden Gloves champ at negotiating the drive-out price. We do give a good sum to missions and other charitable works, but have never had need of nothing except God's good grace. My advice to young men is to marry a Proverbs 31 woman and keep her for better or worse until you ride the big, black hearse.6 points

Those that spend irresponsibly deserve what they get. The people I was referring to are the ones who can't afford everyday things & are forced to charge these things & then can't pay off balance. They end up with huge interest charges. We use ours for gas, groceries, etc & are blessed to have the funds to pay off balance every month. BTW-Fjb for putting people in this situation.3 points

Been there, done that. Once I was drowning in credit card debt. Its especially hard on young people trying to get themselves established in this world. The interest charges will eat you up. But many do it to themselves. They want what they want and they want it right now! I think all of us have had to stand in a checkout line waiting while the person in front of us tries multiple credit cards to make their purchase. Or worse are the people who buy little items such as one soft drink or fast food and pay with a credit card. That sort of thing adds up real quick. I got myself out of credit card debt some 30 years ago. Today I have one credit card and its used primarily for internet purchases. I also pay off the balance every month. For most everyday items, I pay cash. If I don't have enough cash, I just don't buy it.3 points

Our Founding Fathers said our right to bear arms was given to us by our Creator and .gov couldn't infringe upon them. Our .gov servants have chipped away those rights to the point where most of the country thinks we are beholden to them. One of 2 things will happen, we'll be completely disarmed in the near future or a minority of patriots will try to take back our rights by force from a majority elected .gov.3 points

I have little sympathy for financially irresponsible people who get wrapped up in credit card debt. People who suddenly lose their jobs or have unforeseen massive medical expenses are an entirely different matter.2 points

There is a lot of blame of the financial system and government when, ultimately, the responsibility is of the individual. Most people have no clue what "living within their means" actually means. They think that Starbucks, McDonalds, Chipotle, Doordash, Uber Eats, etc, etc, are mandatory requirements in their lives and there is no way to convince them otherwise. They think they would rather be homeless than to give up any takeout food or drink, that's the level of delusion they are at. The modern credit system as we know it has been around for over 40 years. Payday loans at least 20 years that I know of. The interest rates are right there in the paperwork the individual signs. It's pretty basic math. Plenty of time and opportunity to educate but based on the spending habits of average Americans, that education may as well not exist. If people actively choose to be debt slaves then that is their choice. I seem to remember a time when actions had consequences but the more days go, that concept seems to be going the way of the dodo bird.2 points

I second Jeff43, I have bought most of my steel from https://shootingtargets7.com They use flat rate boxes so their shipping is reasonable but the mailman don't like their boxes much. If you get on their mailing list they send out all their sales, and they have lots of them. They have nice charts to help you buy the right thickness for what you plan to shoot. Since I shoot a bit of everything on my range I color code my targets Green handle anything I own, Yellow carbines and handguns, red .22 only. If you make everything for the biggest caliber they don't ring that well on lower caliber. As long as your buying targets, I found that just buying what ever paint was cheap didn't cover well and in the long run cost more than good paint. I found https://www.rangestore.net that sells high pigment target paint in a bunch of colors. They cover fast and a can last awhile.2 points

Oh, I get that. That's exactly what happened to me. We were young, two small kids and even though we both worked, things were tight. We managed as long as things went well. But that rarely happened. Something would break, the kids need clothes, yadda, yadda, yadda. Unexpected expenses just came along and always at the wrong time. Back then, credit cards were hard to get. There were long forms to fill out and they actually checked up on you. Many people got declined. I did get a MasterCard which I used sparingly. But then I managed to hit the mother load. I got a Sears credit card! You could get anything you needed at Sears! It saved my butt many times. But it also drowned me in credit card debt. The interest was outrageous! The day I finally paid it off was a huge celebration for me. I canceled the card and cut it up in little pieces with a huge smile on my face. Now days they hand out credit cards to anybody and everybody. They don't care at all. Here, take it, no problem. Enjoy! I can certainly understand how well meaning people can fall into the trap. I was one of them. But I still believe that most people today did it to themselves. Financial responsibility seems to go right over many peoples heads now.2 points

I always knew this had been going on a long time. The Bible gives an example which occurred around 600BC. 1 Samuel 13, verses 19-20 "There were no blacksmiths in the land of Israel in those days. The Philistines wouldn't allow them for fear they would make swords and spears for the Hebrews. So whenever the Israelites needed to sharpen their plowshares, picks, axes or sickles, they had to take them to a Philistine blacksmith." Verse 21 talks about the fees (or tax) assessed for sharpening these tools in order to make them functional. 1. Disarm the peasants 2. Limit the ability for peasants, through high cost fees and/or taxes, to maintain any item as personal defensive or offensive weapon 3. Make sure only those loyal to the rulers are armed .gov has been attempting to disarm us for almost 3000 years2 points

I believe this is a steal deal. If I was in the mid-TN area, I would have it. If one had to defend themselves, the police would have the firearm and good luck getting it back. So no great loss. I’ve never had a problem out of my Taurus’s.2 points

i won a shield arms s15 "combo mag pack" (3 mags and a steel mag catch) in an auction from a local pawn shop for a pretty fair price. when i went to pick it up they were second gen mags and i was a little deflated. however after running several hundred rounds through my G43x i've been very happy with them and i am now carrying that instead of my springfield hellcat (which was my carry gun the last couple of years)1 point

The Shield Arms mags have given me zero problems. That said, my Sig P365 X Macro holds 17 rounds in the same size package as the 43X.1 point

Current gen's get good reviews. Their are some that have an extreme bias against Shield for the threatened lawsuit against Palmetto. PSA's mags get the same reviews if you search through both objectively. That being said, the PSA run a little cheaper and you don't have to change the mag release. I have some Shield mags and no issues. Just a preference thing to me.1 point

I had some Cabela points saved up and thought I'd use them on something at my local Bass Pro. I was wanting to get a new multitool for EDC and ended up gettimg the Leatherman Wave+. It has 18 tools. I read it is one of their most popular items. I like it so far. The blades can be opened one-handed which is nice. Anyone on here who has one? What are your likes and dislikes on it?1 point

You may think about this, buddies with G43X/48 Have ditched them and gone with PSA Mini Dagger Mags, they are all metal with a poly strip on them so you can use them without replacing mag release. Function test have shown like Shield function test are at a hundred percent. Last I checked PSA mags were about $10 cheaper.1 point

My teenagers are quite capable of the math necessary to balance a check book. My parents told me to think of it not as a credit card, but a convenience card. I have the money, just not in my pocket. I've only paid interest on 1 monthly bill in 30+ years. I forgot to pay it when our 2nd kid was little. I looked at the bill the next month and was shocked because it was double what it normally is. It didn't take long to figure out why, I just plain forgot to pay it. So I got to add a little stupid tax to the bill. Oops. I plan to get my older boy a credit card in the near term. He's driving and hoping for a summer job so it's time to introduce him to personal finance that's more involved than the peanut butter jar in his room.1 point

I’m not sure which Leatherman tool I have, it’s an older one, from back when I wasn’t aware they made more than one model, if they ever did back then. I carried it for a long while, but for some reason I stopped and it ended up in an office drawer then later a carry bag. I also have a gerber multi tool in the truck. I found that I didn’t need to carry one but still like having one close by.1 point

I picked this up last year used, a Wilson Combat 92G with the Vertec grip. The previous owner had sprung for the mag guide and Wilson's action job which is seriously slick (averages 2.5lbs SA and about 5lb DA on my digital trigger gauge), they had also had a Jarvis Custom barrel and single-port comp fitted along with a Jarvis steel guide rod. When I got it it was a very fast, very flat shooting and very fun gun, so I decided to see what else I could add to it. Smash cut to last week: I got my slide back from Langdon after sending it out for their optic cut. They replace a lot of the little fiddly bits in the slide with ones of their design to facilitate a (slightly) lower height over bore than the Beretta system, with the trade-off that you lose your rear sight dovetail so you are locked in to using their mount plates. They also replace the front sight to cowitness/align with the plate's rear irons. I opted for the RMR footprint but if I decide to go with something else for some reason in the future it's a pretty easy plate swap. Planned to use a 507Comp but after getting it back I decided I wanted to carry it sometimes so I went with the thinner 507C. Anyways here's wonderwall my Langdon Tactical/Jarvis Custom/Wilson Combat 92:1 point

Don't get me wrong...I'm a Libertarian. I think seatbelts laws and helmet laws shouldn't exist. I think you should wear your helmet and seatbelts, I just don't believe the government has the right to mandate it. The victim is never at fault. Did the victim make it easier for the criminal to commit an illegal act? Could very well be the case, but that act is not and shouldn't be illegal. No crime is committed until the bad guy commits the crime.1 point
