  1. Getting away from punishing lawbreakers and becoming a more coddle-the-felons jurisdiction has made things worse in Shelby County.

  2. Don't get me wrong...I'm a Libertarian. I think seatbelts laws and helmet laws shouldn't exist. I think you should wear your helmet and seatbelts, I just don't believe the government has the right to mandate it. The victim is never at fault. Did the victim make it easier for the criminal to commit an illegal act? Could very well be the case, but that act is not and shouldn't be illegal. No crime is committed until the bad guy commits the crime.

  3. A co-worker used to be a dispatcher for THP and she is the only female I’ve ever met that understands what you mean when you say “it’s northeast of such-and-such” or “go south on highway whatever.” Her brain needs to be cloned.

  4. I am convinced there is only one female brain, and they are all somehow wired in to it. A giant mainframe of confusion if you will.

  5. I left the keys in my work truck for 30 years. Apparently, Memphis has something we are lacking locally.

  6. When we lived up north we locked our car inside a locked garage. That was in the 70's. Our family never locked their cars, hell they left the key in the ignition. People tend to do what those around them do, I was always afraid I'd lock my keys in the car but guessing the thought of it prevented that. If you look back at the discussion of the Memphis police officers being shot by a criminal released on recognizance you'll see what I think of the problem. Our current state of disrespect for the law should not be happening. It is a symptom of lack of respect and responsibility brought about by anti Christian ideals promoted in our schools. Now I need to use my soapbox to prop up the mower deck while I rebuild it.

  8. I have a used scat blast cabinet by tp tools. These are high quality cabinets and this cost over $1k new. It has been used almost everyday for about a year, so it shows so wear. Part of the grate in it has worn away so we just screwed down some sheet metal to cover the hole. Fully functional and comes with several extras. It has a vacuum system, vibrator that keeps the media flowing well and it has the wheel kit so it can roll around. It will need a new light in it and it wouldn't hurt to put a new nozzle on it as well, but all parts can be purchased online at tp tools. Functional and ready to work. You will want at least a 5hp compressor to run this cabinet, it uses a lot of air but blasts very effectively. We use this to blast and prep for cerakote. Its well used and dirty but still functional. Looking for $250, and located in Crossville.

  9. It shouldn’t be this way. Preventing, or at least deterring this type thing IS a reason for having a government. Since that no longer seems to be happening, what good is a government?

  11. Thats all nice and fine, but here in the real world, risk mitigation is a part of life. Failing to take reasonable measures to operate in the world in which we actually live only makes one an attractive target for the criminal element. At some point, it’s just acting as an accessory to the criminals by enabling them. Reminds me of the meme about the guy talking to his neighbor who says “the coyotes keep eating our cats.” ”Where do you get the cats?” ”The animal shelter.” ”Sounds to me like you’re just feeding the coyotes.” Then the guys kid just runs away crying

  13. Great pistols. Great Guy to deal with. I'd be all up in his face for this one if I didn't prefer the full-size Caniks to the compacts. LOL. Serioulsly good pistol here. Snap it up before I get crazy and try for it!

  15. I agree with the overall sentiment here. I was never advocating for criminalizing the victim of property crime, but there are other ways to enforce societal norms and discourage poor behaviors. One of them is shame and public condemnation. Just because an action shouldn’t be illegal doesn’t make it a good choice that shouldn’t be roundly discouraged.

  19. Safer than what? If they had done five minutes of research, they would have found that Germantown Parkway through Cordova has been a hotbed of car thefts/break-ins.

  21. I'm surprised at some of the responses here. Did y'all actually read the article? The National Hardwood Lumber Summit moved their conference to the Cordova area because they thought it would be safer. Yet 20 cars were broken into in one night. Welcome to Memphis. I agree, the person who steals the gun is the criminal. I also agree that you have the right to leave a gun in your car if you want to. But all you're doing is making the criminal's job easier. Common sense says don't do that.

  24. Ok. Another old Winchester joined the stable. I may or may not keep her. I have to “do my thing” first. Tear down, clean, likely remove old varnish someone added at some time. Once I’m done I’ll post more photos and then decide if I’m keeping her. 1907, Winchester Model 1894 in 30WCF. 26” half-round barrel with a short mag-tube. Crescent butt plate. Some bluing left, much turned to a patina. Looks to possibly be a thin layer of varnish on the receiver (it will be removed if it’s there). Early DW King rear sight (likely not original but close to period). Update.. what I thought was varnish on the receiver is just a really light tan patina. Almost looks like old case coloring, but from what I know, there were very few case colored 1894 rifles. I will say this one is quite clean inside. The last two I got did not look like they had ever been cleaned. The carbon and dirt build up was crazy in those.

  27. I should be able to lay a gun on the hood of my car in downtown Nashville for 3 weeks. The guy that takes it is the criminal. My car/truck should not be required to be locked. My house should not be required to be locked. A woman should not be required to dress a sertain way to prevent rape. The person that rapes, murders, or steals shouldn't be suffered.
