I am white and I do not live in a bad neighborhood, so I am speaking way out of turn on this one... but I have a suspicion that there are a LOT of people in those bad neighborhoods who are more sick of that #### than any of us on the sidelines are. Because they live with it daily and often are somewhat captive to it. Who is killing whom is best answered by saying it's criminals doing the killing and sometimes it's other criminals who get killed, but often it's also innocent people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. The elephant in the room that no one is ignoring, if you talk to good people who live in those neighborhoods, is that there is a pervasive culture that glamorizes violence. And those good people are sick of that #### too. I don't have any answers. Just observations and sympathy for the people who want out and can't seem to find a way.5 points

The best carry ammo is probably whatever known brand hollow point functions 100% in your carry gun and is fairly accurate that you can find and afford. You can obsess over ballistics and gel tests, but the fact is that most handguns suck for stopping bad guys. Their great virtue is that they are very portable and you can have it with you almost everywhere you go. Having said all that, I carry Hornady Critical Defense 115 or Federal HST 124. They are fairly common and I don't want to have to find and test a new round because my ammo is exotic, hard to find, or always out of stock.4 points

Price reduced to $1,250.00 firm to hopefully move locally and not have to deal with a gunbroker sale. Could use some funds! I purchased this gun a few years ago on gunbroker (you may remember about my gamble on the cheapest citori on gunbroker). Well the gamble paid off, and the gun is very nice but per the usual it is collecting dust. I was going to throw it back on gunbroker for a $1.00 bid auction but don't want to jump through the hoops to get the account eligable to sell again. I figure I will post it up here and see if I can't get lucky with a local sale. This turns out to be a 1978 Browning Citori Field 12G O/U, it has the model code J53 which from what I researched means that it is a standard field but was originally part of a large lot of guns sold to a type of supermarket chain or hardware store chain (i.e. Sears gets a model code J53 for their store resell guns). The gun has a top barrel that is modified and a bottom barrel that is improved cylinder, both barrels are clean as a whistle. The action is smooth and firm but not tight, really feals like it is just worn in right, my new Citori is still tight and it is much harder on a day of shooting, though I'm hoping to use it more with one less shotgun and get it loosened up. I also was able to aquire this case from another member on here in a trade. I believe I traded a PMR 30 for the case and some cash if my memory serves. This case is an older Browning Superposed case according to the member I traded for. I tried to use it for my new Citori CX White but with the 30" barrels, and external chokes, it doesn't fit. With internal chokes it barely fits, so I figure this case is a much better match for the correct era citori instead and have packaged them together. Custom fitted, black walnut grips. Maybe shot 200 rounds. Comes with everything from the factory plus a good quality, leather, cowboy style holster. I bought it for bear protection when I bowhunted out west, but I no longer have a use for it. I'll throw in all the 300gr, hardcast handloads I have plus whatever spare brass I can scrounge up. I also have an Alaris Tactical chest holster I'd part with for an extra $50 to the buyer. $700 firm (I don't do haggling. I list for the lowest I'll accept.) No trades. Can meet anywhere between Winchester & Murfreesboro.2 points

I think that's the reason so many of them ( Active Shooters...oh how I hate this term) seem to take their own lives before being caught. Perhaps if one were taken alive and fully procecuted, it might deter this sort of thing happening. But probably not. The type of person who does this is usually angry about something. And thinking that drawing attention to themselves and their beliefs will cure all the world's problems and we'll all go raise beautiful, sweet smelling flowers. To this I say...Bah Humbug!! Live in the world. If you don't like your world, then work to help it. Not destroy it and kill innocents.2 points

I feel so bad for good people who get bunched in with the thugs. Same for gun owners, us good guys get bunched with the crazed killers.2 points

Have you seen cops shoot? If a teacher is genuinely interested in shooting, they can become far more proficient than most SROs.2 points

Putting this back up for sale: I have a pretty darn nice, lightly used Smith & Wesson M&P10 in .308 Winchester or 7.62x51NATO that I am putting up on the for sale. I have shot probably 50 rounds through it, would be surprised if the previous owner shot many more. Looks like almost new, some handling marks. I'm not an AR afficionato so I don't know much about it or what to look for. I have disassembled to remove the bolt and look at it but that is it. It has a nice floating heat shield installed but comes with the stock one. M-Lock angled foregrip installed on it. Has some nice Troy Industries flip up sights that will go with it as well. 5 Mags with 1 all metal 10 round mag. It is a nice rifle, with everything included, in the bag, ready to go, first $1,300.00 takes it OBO. Trade interest: Benelli/HK 12 guage semi-auto1 point

So I had the chance to visit the range this AM for my Rugers first outing- It did real well-no malfunctions-eats any ammo-and is accurate with all weights I tried- No brass wreckage and no malfunctions-this is going to hurt some of the Ruger haters- I sighted it in at 100 yards with only 10 rounds and shot another 10 just for fun- Doesn't recoil any worse than my 30-30 with 150 Interlocks- I believe they call this 1 MOA-at 100 yards Forgot to add ammo- 150gr Federal Power Point- 165 Federal Match- 170 AAC Match All fed and extracted as designed- The target is with 170gr AAC Match-1 point

One gun in the hands of someone who knows how to shoot & isn't afraid to approach the shooter can save lives. I believe these shooters are cowards & someone returning fire will stop their advance & probably turn tail & run. JMHO.1 point

70's Frat Party! Ah...those were some strange and fun times! LOL! I remember my date and I getting thrown out into the snow during a 'Bama for rooting for the opposing team. Another time, as the party was winding down around 2 am, some of us were standing in the kitchen of "the house" watching our own personal "Animal" entertain some girls as he demonstrated a masterbation scene! Using his throat! Head tilted back and rubbing his adams apple up and down. He simulated an ending by spitting in the air several times. Meanwhile...my date, and several other gals just stood there with amazed looks on their faces! Yes...those were the days. Archie and Edith should be singing in the background for this. LOL!1 point

My favorite is Federal HST, but I've used Gold Dots, Norma MHP, Critical Defense, Sig Elite Defense. Any of the modern stuff works extremely well. A lot of the expansion and jacket separation issues have been technologically overcome. But for your research enjoyment: https://stevespages.com/page8f9mmluger.html1 point

Found that setting but it is already enabled. Now that I know it’s to do with orientation and not random, I can deal with it. I sometimes read in landscape and sometimes in portrait. In my old age I never thought to look at how I was using it. I was thinking I wasn’t doing anything different. I good now. Thanks for the help!1 point

Agreed on the comments will be varied. I have a "Fantastic Plastic" Ruger Max 9 and I favor heavier along with + P. My Max 9 is stocked with Hornady 147 Gr + P ammo. I also like Hornady Critical Defense which is 115 Gr, and the Critical Duty which is a + P with a 135 Gr bullet and built to Police Specs. Suppose to be superior for metal/glass car body penetration. Several of the premium Self Defense brand loadings will be sufficient in these micro guns. Purchase you a few and see which you, and your Pistol likes.1 point

Most any good defensive load will get the job done. But every gun is different. I suggest you buy several different boxes of quality defense ammo and go to the range. Whatever is most reliable and shoots the best in your gun is what you go with.1 point

In this it is not , really, the iPad. HTML has some quirks that some sites use to try and give you a little more real estate depending on orientation. Some type of responsive web design that affects phones and tablets. If you can find the setting for Desktop Site it should stop that.1 point

Great question on the two states represented. I originally set up the account when I lived in Georgia, but moved to Nashville in 2018. There was never an option to change/modify the account because it only shows my address on the account page as Tennessee. I do not see Georgia referenced anywhere in the account, other than history searching and inquiries for purchases. Hope this helps.1 point

When a person can visit a restaurant in Nashville, and shoot 10 people "because he was disrespected," we got problems.1 point

According to records of the Remington Society of America, your rifle was made in 1913. Hope it isn't breaking any rules to add that bit of info here. Beautiful gun. Cheers, Whisper1 point

TN is not inventing anything new here. Private schools have had the option to permit carry for several years. State universities have allowed it as well for all employees. 33 states allow teachers to carry. I understand all the concern, and teacher carry is not the only answer. Hardened facilities will help. But I would rather have a teacher that is willing to carry and of course that participates in routine training in place than not. It is well documented that response time is proportional to body count. We are our own 1st responder, not surprisingly, no blood in the hallways in the above examples. Just like the concern over the guns in trunk bill, or guns in bar bills.1 point

It’s not “arming teachers.” It’s ALLOWING teachers to arm themselves if they choose. If they don’t like it, then don’t participate, but why not let others who are willing? I don’t think anybody believes it is THE solution, but a fire may not do as much damage if someone with a hose is there when it starts.1 point
