  2. I don't care for this. Not for the "gun" reason, but because it puts these sellers at an unfair advantage over licensed dealers. These folks don't have to purchase an FFL, business license, mess with all the bound book keeping, or charge sales tax.

  3. This smallbore is not boring one bit! As I began shooting the TX22, it preferred three out of seven brands of ammo, but accuracy improved with all but one as the gun got down and dirty. Best groups were with Remy Golden Bullet and CCI Blazer. I would say Aguila Super Extra came in third. The best news is that there was not one hiccup or failure! The pistol felt great in the hand and pointed naturally. It earns my double thumbs up opinion!

  4. I don’t personally go to gun shows. It’s been at least 12-15 years since I have been. Now from what I hear, it’s mostly guys who are charging moon bucks for dirt road stuff, or ATF agents. Gun Shows in general have lost their “luster” or appeal for me. The issue I have with the latest infringement is the wide variable interpretation of “earning a profit”. I’ve had friends with ads on other sites that have received emails from ATF explaining their definition change. Basically a threatening email. This will be the new normal. It will only get worse with another FJB term. Still worse but at a slower rate if Trump gets another term. I for one am sick of old rich people making decisions that affect normal working people.

  5. Gun owners pretending they weren't in business are the ones who brought this down. As long as the background check system isn't a bogged down mess, I don't see this going away. As @JohnSutton1980explained pretty well, Congress ceded this authority to the executive branch...they had fundraising to attend to, I'm sure. Better to have something you pretend to care about when asking folks for money.

  6. Smith & Wesson 29-5 4" 44 Magnum Aside from the turn line on the cylinder it's in great shape despite being handled a fair amount over the years. I'd guess I've put a couple hundred rounds through it, nothing crazy. The grips are in good shape but there is some cosmetic wear near the bottom on both sides. Never had any problems with it - just decided to pair things down a little. It'll come with this here Galco OWB holster. Don't have the original box/papers - just the gun & holster. My wife would certainly prefer that I sell it but I might be open to swapping for hell, I don't know, something. 9mm, 223/556, full sized AKs, etc I'm in Manchester but travel through Murfreesboro and Nashville several times per week. Be happy to meet anywhere there or in between. $925 Thanks, fellas.

  7. Legally, no. But practically, there is a record out there attaching your name to that firearm.

  8. Having seen this question pop up before, I always feel like it's a loaded question. By the strictest interpretation there is no gun registration in TN, but the bound book could be considered a de facto registration since the ATF can demand to see it any time they want and to record the contents. There is even a well known video of an ATF agent making an unscheduled visit to photograph every page of a gun store's bound book. Add to that fact that I'd feel like a fool if I actually believed the ATF does not keep all the 4473 forms they receive.

  18. Preduzece 44 was a Yugoslavian gun factory that reworked German K98’s after WWII before they started making M48’s. It literally translates to “factory 44”, not the original year of production.

  19. As above Greg is correct, yes and no. Tn did away with Registration about 1995 and it was only if you wanted to do it. NY and other places still use it. Once on it will always be on unless you move/die and must then be removed, can be costly. Once you buy a gun from a FFL dealer they must retain that record as long as they stay open and then it has to be sent to a U S Gov. warehouse forever. If gun is used in a crime Feds go to say Ruger and Ruger sends info as to FFL that sold it,then they go to FFL and to person who purchased it. If that person did not know the person it was sold to you may be a suspect. Once that gun is sold several times and not through a FFL then they may question fingerprint/Dna results if used in a major crime. Now if you buy a gun say walking around a gun show with a cash transaction somebody could have put three slugs in a person two nights ago and you fire at or shoot a home invader and PD runs all slugs you are in possession of a murder weapon or Grandpa finds his gun stolen after three years and files report you now have a stolen gun you owned a year or more, say a FFL goes to sell it it will come back to you. This is happening often now a days than it did a few years ago. I have bought a couple guns in past from FFL shops and while waiting local gets alert swoops in and picks it up. One FFL asked me if I wanted my $10 background check money back and I said yes and if he had a problem I could have the PD come right back and have a talk about it.

  21. As et45 said, technically/legally no.... but going back to Janet Reno they were keeping the books, making copies of books etc. in violation of law.

  22. Tn doesn’t have a registration law.The dealer you buy it from records it in a bound book. They keep the book/books as long as they are in business. If they go out of business or give up their FFL they turn the books over to the ATF who is supposed to destroy them.At least that’s what I heard.

  26. I hate to say it because I despise the ATF and think they should be abolished, but you're not wrong. You see them at every gun show, guy has 6 tables full of guns, lots of NIB and never been fired stuff and a big sign telling the world that he isnt doing background checks. Lots of reporters and anti gun activists at the gunshows just looking for their next blog post

  30. It's like mudslinging, trow everything you can and see what sticks. They have to know this will go through the court system like a runaway freight train. where is the line between a hobby and a business? Anyone can make a "profit" but can you sustain it and actually make a living at it.

  33. And this is where the ATF will play pigeon chess. (If you don't know what pigeon chess is, pigeon chess is playing chess with a pigeon. Even if you beat the pigeon at chess, he's going to $#!t all over the board and tell everyone else he won). I expect that they will try to make examples out of a few (otherwise) law abiding citizens. A savvy defendant won't be able to recall exactly what he paid for it and know whether or not he is actually making a profit due to inflation and whatnot . But I'm the process is going to spend so much money in legal fees to clear his name that he will never to a private transaction again. The silver lining here is that it gives gun guys the ability to say "sorry honey, I just can't sell any guns, it's too risky."

  37. Hey David, I'm going to go into the past here. Remember the first(?) TGO shirts? Had the TGO/TN tri-star logo on the Chest. Had the "What part of shall not be infringed" on the back. Is there a chance we might see something similar again? Especially the chest logo. I wear this quite a lot and get the " where can I get one" question fairly often. Would it be a big seller now? I don't know, but I'd certainly like a couple more. I've got holes in mine from an old pair of suspenders. LoL. Just wondering.

  38. Hey Y'all, I've had the Mantis X dry fire training system for a little over a month and it has been a pretty interesting device. Works for both dry and live fire and it gives pointers on your trigger pulls, grip, etc. I got the extra version that works for ARs, Shotguns, and Bow's (no clue how it works for bows yet). I've been enjoying their product so much that I have ordered the Laser Training Academy. It is my ultimate dream to own land and have my own backyard shooting range so I can practice daily. Until then, this has been a great way for me to keep my trigger finger fresh, work on draws, and improve my overall pistol shooting while in the burbs. Highly recommend. I'll let y'all know how the laser academy goes as well.

  39. Last night, during dryfire practice, I hit my 1,000th “shot” with the Mantis X training program, so I figured it would be a good time to do a review. While I had long heard of the Mantis system, and was interested in the concept, the price still seemed a bit high to experiment with it. However, several weeks ago I joined their email list on a whim and the promise of “a chance to win $250 off your next order!” A few moments later I received an email stating that I indeed had won the drawing. After looking at their website, I chose the X10 variant, as it claims to be the most versatile and at a cost of $249.99 was within my price range. Shipping was free as well, so I got the whole thing at no cost to me! Unfortunately I spent most of the next two weeks out of town, so my real time on the system has been over the last 2-3 weeks. In that time I’ve done about 850 “shots'' of Dry Fire and 150 of live fire. The vast majority of those reps were with my EDC Gen 5 Glock 19, but there were also a few rounds with my 34 as well. The X10 model that I have is also supposedly designed to be used with rifles, shotguns, and bows as well, but I have yet to try those features, so that review will have to wait. The device itself is pretty cool. Compact and lightweight, it attaches to the rail on the pistol and apparently uses some gyroscope technology to track the orientation of the weapon. This allows for some pretty cool things. The system is precise enough to tell the difference between movements pre and post trigger break. In its most basic set up, shots are scored on a percentage system where the movement of the front sight post ignition is compared to its position prior to the trigger press. It then collects and stores it in a couple of different formats, with the base being the equivalent of the oft-chagrined diagnostic target, complete with the same “helpful” suggestions on your shooting errors. While the advice offered is the traditional “meh” quality, the empirical measurements are beneficial as they definitely keep you honest in tracking the front site. In this format, I can really see the usefulness for teaching true novices how to dry fire effectively. Outside the basic analysis settings, there are over a dozen other useful drills to experiment with, such as strong hand or weak hand only, reload iterations, and a unique daily challenge of some sort; all of which can be done either dry or live fire. Of these, I have found the most interesting to be the Holster Draw Analysis. Rather than tracking the front sight, the device acts as a shot timer and tracks the draw, breaking it down into its various segments of Time to Grip, Pull, Time with the gun Horizontal, Time to find the Target, and Time to Shot. I think this is a really cool feature, as it gives useful metrics to see where you can improve most on your draw. According to the stored records on the Mantis X, I have cut nearly .4 seconds off my draw to shot from concealment, and gotten my open carry draw (Pictured) to around one second. However this functionality is not without issues though, as fast draws sometimes wont register some of the metrics. Similar to this is one of the most difficult of the challenges the program has, which is the Hostage Rescue drill, which combines the two functionalities. In it, you have 5 repetitions with a par time and score threshold to reach, and both must be met in order to save the hostage. Ive been using a post it note on the living room wall at 7 yards and its pretty difficult. I haven't even tried the advanced setting on it yet. This drill is good for me, as it forces me to “take my time in a hurry.” I can get the par time easily, and I can get the trigger press I need, but doing the two in conjunction needs work. In order to complete this challenge I had to remind myself that I had time to spare to get it under par, so slow down and get the hit I needed. My livefire time with the Mantis X has been more limited, around 150 rounds or so. To be honest, I don't see quite as much functionality in the basic modes here, as the bullet strike reveals the same problems as the screen, although identifying the flier out of a string could be quite useful. During live fire, I first tried out the shot timer feature, hoping it could drop by Bill Drill time to 2.25 from concealment. Unfortunately, I had some issues doing this, as the software did not pick up all the shots in the string each time I attempted it. I quickly then moved on to the Holster Draw Analysis again and didnt have a problem. My guess is that during really quick shots it can't pick up the firing pin strike through the continuing recoil and subsequent driving of the gun. I need to do another attempt with it on the range, and I'll update you if my results are different. Lastly, there are some interesting additional features that encourage repeated use. The Groups function is pretty cool, as you can create or join a group and follow each other’s training records in things like number of shots or average score. I made a Tactical Indifference group if anyone wants to join, right now its just me and Pliskin though. Or if you don't want to go that route, the app also has Courses with various challenges to complete. If you are a video game guy, it reminds me an awful lot of the achievement function on my xbox. So far I have completed the 2 “Combat” courses, and am apparently supposed to get some velcro patches in the mail for doing so, but they haven't come in yet. In all, I would say the Mantis X is worth the money, if you actually are going to use it. As I have reached 1000 rounds, I essentially would have paid it off by now (had I actually paid for it out of pocket) in comparative ammo costs. I also have been more diligent and consistent with my dryfire since getting it, so that is a big plus as well. In all I'd say it's a good practice aid and potentially a great teaching tool in a private lesson type format. I think it also should make a very good gift to someone just starting along the path. I give it 4 out of 5 stars

  43. IMPORTANT - READ THIS! (2/1/18) Guys, I froze existing orders and halted new ordering for the time being. I am in between meetings at work and really only have a few seconds to type this. I'll explain more later and re-open the store as soon as I can. I don't think anyone noticed that the logo didn't have the bullet holes inside the state. Just stars. Working with Queensboro to make sure that we don't let anything go out the door with the wrong logo, taking care of existing orders, etc.
